It doesn't get much attention, but Jordan Clarkson is an undisputed second-round steal when he first came to the NBA in 2014. When the Los Angeles Lakers picked him with the No. 46 pick, he became a double-digit scorer from the jump.
He isn't as accomplished as some of the other NBA stars who were picked in the second round, like Nikola Jokic, Draymond Green, Manu Ginobili, Khris Middleton, and DeAndre Jordan. Still, Clarkson has proven his worth in the NBA as a scorer, as he's averaged as many as 20.8 points per game and has never dipped below a double-digit scoring average.
Clarkson has also played for quite a few playoff teams throughout his NBA career, as he helped the Cleveland Cavaliers make the NBA Finals in 2018, then helped the Utah Jazz make the NBA Playoffs for three straight years from 2020 to 2022.
Jordan Clarkson Explains What It Means to Join the Knicks
This offseason, the Jazz waived Clarkson, which paved the way for him to join the New York Knicks, who are fresh off their first run to the Eastern Conference Finals since 2000. In an interview with New York fashion brand KITH and its founder, Ronnie Fieg, Clarkson explained what makes the Knicks special.
"This is a place that everybody wakes up and wants to play, wants to be a part of it," Clarkson said (h/t New York Basketball). I think being a Knick, in that sense, you have a sense of pride. It's love around the city always for the Knicks.
"I think when you go out there and be confident and show love and really play for the city and embrace it and wear it on your skin when you're out there on the floor, play with pride and know it's bigger than yourself and this team, I feel like that's when you really are engaged and want to take it to the next level. I'm ready for it all and super excited and ready to get to it."
Clarkson is coming off an injury-plagued season with the Jazz, but still put up solid scoring numbers. In 37 games, Clarkson averaged 16.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 40.8% from the field and 36.2% from three.
The Knicks were dead last in bench points per game last season, averaging 21.7 points per game, per NBA.com. Because of Clarkson's reputation and after the season he just had, he might be just what the doctor ordered in New York.

On a new episode of IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, the podcast the former first lady co-hosts with her older brother, Craig Robinson, guest Dwyane Wade brought up Michelle's 2022 remark that she once "couldn't stand" her husband. Newsweek reached out to Barack Obama's representative via email for comment. Why It Matters Barack and Michelle Obama wed in 1992 and have two daughters together: Malia Obama, 27, and Sasha Obama, 24. Earlier this year, the couple was the target of divorce speculation after Michelle chose not to attend President Donald Trump's inauguration and skipped former President Jimmy Carter's state funeral. Fuel was added to the rumors when Meghan McCain said on a podcast that she heard the pair was splitting up from "reputable people." The Obamas have since shut down breakup rumors. First lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama walk across the South Lawn after returning to the White House on Marine One on July 12, To Know During Wednesday's episode of IMO, Wade, who was joined by his wife Gabrielle Union on the show, said they've been married for a decade, before turning the conversation toward Michelle. "We're 10 years in," the former NBA star said. "I heard you say that you had 10 years where you didn't even like Barack, so I'm like, man, where is that coming from?" "You know, I just tell the truth," the Becoming author told him. "It's like, you have these periods, right? And if you're married for 30 years, like you just look at the odds. If you're going to be married 30 years and somebody told you a third of those times wouldn't be great, you'd still take the odds. You'd take those odds. Those are great odds!" She added that while "marriage is beautiful," it's also "difficult" and "you don't just walk away in the difficult times because you miss all the beauty because you think it's got to be perfect." "It is never perfect," she shared. In December 2022, Michelle got candid about her marriage during a roundtable conversation with Revolt TV. "People think I'm being catty by saying this. It's like, there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband," she said. "And guess when it happened? When those kids were little." What People Are Saying In the comments underneath the podcast on YouTube, fans praised the conversation. YouTube user @KCNwokoye said in a comment: "Michelle is such a beautiful and brilliant woman. I can see why Barack loves her. She's an excellent leader and manager. She's a high frequency Capricorn, same as Dwyane. Gabby is so thoughtful. Starting 5 Season 2: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on August 21, 2025, 19:00 IST Last updated August 21, 2025, 11:13 IST Yo, basketball junkies! Starting 5 on Netflix had folks glued to their screens with its first season, and now everyone's hyped for Season 2. After dropping some serious NBA drama in October 2024, the show's ready to bring more heat. Let's break down everything known about Starting 5 Season 2—release date guesses, the star-studded cast, and what kind of stories are coming. Starting 5 Season 2 Potential Release Date Nobody's got an official date yet, but let's piece together the clues. The first season came out in October 2024, right after the 2023-24 NBA season wrapped. Season 2's already filming, capturing all the action from the 2024-25 NBA season, including the playoffs. If they stick to the same rhythm, expect Season 2 to land around October 2025. That gives the crew time to film the season, catch those clutch playoff moments, and edit it all into something epic. Some fans on X are tossing around ideas about a fall 2025 premiere to sync with the 2025-26 NBA season kickoff, but it's all speculation for now. Keep your eyes peeled for a trailer around summer 2025—that'll probably clue us in on the exact drop date. Starting 5 Season 2 Expected Cast The cast for Season 2 is straight fire, with a mix of NBA vets and young ballers ready to shine. Netflix spilled the beans on five players who'll be front and center: Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics) : Dude just snagged Finals MVP in 2024, and now he's back to defend that Celtics crown. His story's gonna dig into his Olympic team drama and that beef with Nike. Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) : KD's a legend, no question. He's chasing another ring with the Suns, and you know it's gonna be a wild ride watching him ball out. James Harden (Los Angeles Clippers) : The Beard's at a crossroads with the Clippers. His storyline's probably gonna be all about proving he's still got it. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) : Shai's an MVP contender and a straight-up star. Expect him to show off his leadership and maybe make a deep playoff run. Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers): This kid's blowing up, and his breakout season's gonna be a big focus. Could he lead the Pacers to the Finals? Big shoutout to Shams Charania for dropping the cast news. Oh, and fun fact: Jayson Tatum, who was a Season 1 star, handed the spotlight to his Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown after their 2024 championship win. This lineup's got something for everyone—old-school fans and newbies alike. Starting 5 Season 2 Potential Plot Season 2's bringing that same Starting 5 vibe: raw, real, and packed with hoops and heart. The 10 episodes will track the 2024-25 NBA season, diving into the lives of these five players both on the court and off. Here's what to expect: Jaylen Brown's Grind : Fresh off that Finals MVP, Brown's got the weight of Boston on his shoulders. He's dealing with the pressure to repeat, plus some personal stuff like getting left off Team USA and his issues with Nike. Kevin Durant's Mission : KD's all about legacy. He's pushing the Suns toward a championship, and you'll see him battling to stay at the top of his game. James Harden's Fight : Harden's future with the Clippers is shaky. His story's gonna be about proving doubters wrong and finding his place in the league. Shai and Tyrese Takeover : These two are the future of the NBA. Shai's leading OKC with swagger, while Haliburton's got the Pacers dreaming big. Fans on X are already hyping a possible Finals face-off between these young guns. Big Themes: Look for stories about pressure, family, loyalty, and dealing with the media spotlight. Season 2's aiming to fix Season 1's pacing hiccups, with tighter episodes and more emotional punches. With LeBron James' Uninterrupted, Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions, and Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions behind it, this season's gonna be slick, emotional, and full of those 'whoa' moments—think insane dunks mixed with real-life family vibes.
