Colombian migrant's grim take on life in United States stuns South Americans
Geivy Santana, 30, explained that it may not be easy as it seemed with all the monthly expenses that a small family like hers can incur.
The married mother-of-one offered her followers inside her apartment complex, where she finally settled in after arriving from the South American nation in 2022.
'And having a vehicle here in the United States isn't a luxury; it's a necessity,' Santana explained in the TikTok video that was originally posted on July 6 and has more than 300,000 views.
'Imagine yourself in a job where they pay you $500 or $600 a week and you have to pay Uber every day. Now, a job where, let's say, you earn $2,000 a month is practically worth the rent in many states.
'Where I am right now, that's worth the rent. So, if I were alone, it really wouldn't work.'
Santana said that had she been on her own with her daughter, her monthly salary would have barely been enough to cover her home rents along with 'utilities, internet [and] food.'
'So, what am I going to live on? And often these kinds of situations happen,' she added.
Santana used the example of couples who voluntarily turn themselves in to border agents at the southern border and are often split, leaving one to handle the responsibilities to taking care of a household.
'When they turn themselves in to immigration, one may make it through and the other may not. The other may be released later, because that doesn't mean they're going to be deported, but it has happened many times,' she said.
'It happened to me with some friends: my friend was released first, and the girl was detained for about three months.'
Santana works as a life coach and speaker, and also works as a hairstylist out of her home.
Anyone looking into abandoning their homes for a new life in the United States should really sit down and do their research before committing a life-altering decision, she counseled.
'Because it's really sad to work and work and not even have enough left to eat an ice cream,' she said.
One of Santana's 298,000 TikTok followers sided with her and suggested that incoming migrants could do without owning a vehicle due to the high home costs until they are stable.
'In many things she is right, the car is a necessity, the rents are very expensive,' one person wrote. 'At the beginning the salaries are very low and you can only live on the ground floor if you have support it is somewhat easier but still here nobody maintains.'
'You spoke with logic,' another follower opined. 'We must think carefully about each step we are going to take, and not let ourselves be carried away by deception.'
Other well not receptive of Santana's message and singled her out for trying to shut the dreams of migrants who see the United States at the option for a better life.
'Let everyone live their experience, babe, just like you did, and if that's the case, why don't you leave?;' one follower said. 'Don't pay attention to them, fight for your dreams. For God, nothing is impossible.'
'I am in this country and I don't say that to anyone,' another person added. 'Everyone lives as they want and can. Whoever has the opportunity, let them do it. Everyone has their own back and their own luck.'

Repair Shop Jay Blades turns to TikTok to earn money from fans and host late night live sessions despite being charged with two counts of rape as he awaits trial on separate charge of controlling and coercive behaviour
BBC star Jay Blades, who has been charged with two counts of rape, hosts bizarre late night TikTok lives, declares himself a 'born again' Christian and is raking in cash from fans. Despite serious allegations against the TV presenter, who was charged with two counts of rape on Monday, the Repair Shop star seems unfazed as he turns to social media to earn money and help improve his public image. The Mail can reveal that Blades, 54, who is currently on a break from television following the disturbing allegations, has taken to hosting late-night livestreams from his bedroom – dancing to gospel and soul music, preaching about his newfound faith, and interacting with a growing online fanbase. During these TikTok sessions – some running well into the early hours – Blades is seen smiling, singing, and declaring himself a 'born again Christian', praising the 'greatness of God' to hundreds of viewers at a time. Fans, many of whom appear unaware of the serious charges he's facing, have been sending him virtual gifts during the livestreams – which convert into real money. The embattled TV star is reportedly earning income from the platform as he continues to build an enthusiastic following online. Blades currently has 15,000 followers on TikTok and posts regularly about his 'weekend sessions'. He has also gained 584 followers on Twitch, where he broadcasts his session. He is also 'earning' 389 bits - which on Twitch are a virtual good that viewers can purchase and use to 'Cheer' in a streamer's chat. Streamers earn revenue based on the number of Bits used in their chat. Jay's goal on his profile says his 'goal' is to earn 1,000 bits. The most recent video advertising his next 'service' reads: 'Sunday is for soul care. 'For grace, elegance, and moments that feel like velvet. Today, I invite you into a space of refined peace and timeless beauty. Music that calms the chaos, elevates the spirit, and reminds you of who you are beneath the rush. 'This is Sophisticated Sunday—where every song is chosen with intention, every sound is smooth as silk, and your presence is all that's needed. 'Unwind. Reflect. Feel deeply. Let the music move you.' According to his profile, his next online session will be taking place this weekend, late into the evening on Friday. Police said in a statement on Monday night that the 55-year-old father-of-three would appear at magistrates' court next Wednesday. A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025.' Blades is currently awaiting trial on a separate charge of coercive control of his estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen. He denied the allegation when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court last October. The star was charged last September with a single count of 'controlling and coercive behaviour' between January 1 2023 and September 12 2024. The single charge relates to his fitness instructor wife Ms Zbozen, who announced on Instagram on May 2 last year that she had walked out of the marriage. The BBC show, which started on daytime TV in 2017 before moving to a primetime slot, saw Blades become one of the best-known faces on British TV. He was honoured with an MBE in 2021. He has been at the helm of the show for seven years, but was dropped from last year's live tour. Roman Kemp In 2022, a special one-off episode to mark the BBC's centenary saw Blades and the repair team visit the King, when he was still the Prince of Wales, at Dumfries House in Scotland. Blades was made an MBE by Charles in May 2022 for services to craft and in recognition of his work promoting heritage craft and restoration in the UK.

Shopping centre statement after viral video of girl causing 'mayhem' stuns onlookers
A series of videos have gone viral on social media at the weekend showing a young girl causing 'chaos' at Manchester Arndale and now the shopping centre has issued a statement A major UK shopping centre has issued a statement after wild videos went viral on social media allegedly showing a young girl causing 'mayhem'. In the various clips, a young girl is spotted clambering on top of an escalator, being ushered away by security guards, and reportedly yanking another shopper's hair whilst inside Manchester's Arndale Shopping Centre. One video capturing the incident has been viewed by more than 55 million people on TikTok within just three days. Another snippet on X has amassed over 13 million views in barely 12 hours, with folks from all corners of the globe sharing their opinions on the footage. It comes after a family of 10 'barged out' of pub in brazen dine and dash after £320 meal. Some American viewers have drawn comparisons between the girl and children's book character Junie B Jones, as well as The Grinch's Cindy Lou Who. The footage appears to kick off with a young girl in a pink coat and her family having a row with a team of security staff outside a shop, alongside another group of shoppers. It's unclear what is being said, but online speculation suggests that the girl and her family were accused of shoplifting, with security seen separating the two groups of shoppers. As the clip rolls on, the girl and her family depart, before another young girl hurls an unidentified object towards where the security guards and the other group of shoppers are standing, reports the Manchester Evening News. In a subsequent video, believed to follow the earlier footage, the girl in the pink coat is seen descending an escalator ahead of two security staff. She then hoists herself onto the central partition between the moving staircases and climbs onto the adjacent escalator, which is stationary, proceeding to walk up its steps. At the top, she confronts a group of onlookers, before being filmed yanking the hair of a female shopper. The girl then returns down the escalator, all the while sporting a grin. The collection of videos has sparked a flurry of reactions, with some labelling the young girl a 'diva' while others condemn her behaviour. One viewer commented: "the pink jacket girl CLIMBING OVER the escalator, going back down it, and then going back up just gag her is frying me like WHO IS THIS DIVA LMFAOOO." They continued: "this entire situation is so chaotic i'm crying". Another remarked: "That escalator wasn't ready for a diva moment". While some were amused by the footage, there were those who expressed disapproval. A commenter stated: "I don't find her behaviour that funny." Another added: "Parents need to start parenting." There was also criticism towards those glamorising the girl's antics, with one individual questioning: "What an imbecile. Endangering others safety as well as her own. Why we calling her diva again?" One person said: "Hateee the way everyone's hyping this child up, like that is not a diva stop enabling this behaviour omg." Another voiced their concern: "maybe it's because i actually have kids and I'd die of embarrassment if they were like this, but the response to this girl overall being 'go off queen' is so ****ed." However, while some may think the event is recent, the Manchester Evening News has confirmed that the original videos were first shared on TikTok in March 2022 by @dreams_dreams24. The same account has recently re-uploaded the videos, causing 'pink coat girl' to become a viral sensation on TikTok once again. Shameless star Kelli Hollis also weighed in on the footage with her 293,000 followers, labelling the youngster a 'little madam'. In her video, Kelli commented: "She ain't a little diva, her. She's going to be a little ****ing nightmare is what she is." She continued: "It's funny because it's just pure cheek but she's a little madam." Manchester Arndale's spokesperson said: "We're aware of a video that has been recently circulated on social media, which shows an altercation that took place in Manchester Arndale and was attended by members of our Security team." They clarified: "Following a review of the footage, we can confirm that this is a historic incident that occurred several years ago."

Woman exploring abandoned funeral home calls police after terrifying discovery
The Swanson Funeral Home in Flint, Michigan, US, was shut down in 2017 after inspectors found maggot-infested corpses stacked up in cardboard boxes – but five years later another chilling secret was found A group of urban explorers' trip to an abandoned funeral home in the US ended with a chilling discovery, leading to police being called. The Swanson Funeral Home, located in Flint, Michigan, had been shut down by officials after unrefrigerated human bodies were discovered in squalid conditions during a 2017 inspection. Local residents had previously complained about a persistent odour of decay emanating from the premises. When inspectors from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) visited the site, they found maggots crawling over floors and work surfaces, and nearly a dozen human corpses left unrefrigerated, stacked against the walls in cardboard boxes. Five years later, in June 2022, three explorers ventured into the derelict building and stumbled upon something that sent shivers down their spines. Abandoned sites often attract explorers, like one Scottish mansion that had been reclaimed by nature. But photographer April Vertucci will never forget the time she stepped into a deserted funeral home. April, who goes by the name on TikTok, told the Mirror: "A lot of people knew about the funeral home so we thought we wouldn't have luck... But I walked up to the door and pulled and the door opened. Lock had been previously cut it looked like. I walked back to the car and told the guys the door was open." When the funeral home finally ceased operations, staff left behind embalming chemicals and equipment, and even a Cadillac hearse parked in the garage. Over the years since its closure, vandals had broken in, leaving graffiti on the walls and looting the various syringes and sets of PPE left behind by the former staff. But on the day they visited April and her friends Nick and Matt believed they were alone in the building. So when they came to a creepy stairwell that appeared to lead into the building's basement, it seemed safe enough to venture down into the gloom. "Matt is ahead of me going down the stairs," April recalled. "He yells out 'Is that real?' And calls for Nick and he comes from around the corner." In the centre of the otherwise virtually-empty basement stood a metal structure that resembled a jail cell. And lying crushed beneath it was the body of a man. "I am standing above the casket lift next to the stairs and hear them confirm that the body is in fact real and dead." The "jail cell" was in fact a large goods lift used to ferry coffins from the basement to the ground floor. The dead man is believed to have been a scavenger who had been trying to steal scrap metal from the site. A mobile phone lay just inches from the dead man's outstretched arm. April told the Detroit Metro Times: "You could see he had tried to crawl out from underneath [the lift]. "I've done some crazy s***, but I never expected to come across a dead body, and especially not one crushed to death by a lift. We were all pretty freaked out." The stunned urban explorers immediately contacted the authorities. April revealed to the Mirror: "We were interviewed by police and during that time the coroner came and stated the body had been there for six days making us impossible of having anything to do with the incident and we're sent on our way." Police declined to reveal the identity of the accident victim, who was thought to have perished several days before the grisly find. O'Neil D. Swanson II, proprietor of the funeral home, informed reporters that the man had been "crushed because he cut a cable" whilst attempting to pilfer metal wire from the premises, resulting in the lift plummeting onto him. "It's unfortunate that this happened," he continued. "But he had no business being in my facility." He revealed that since the business had shut down, the building had been pillaged by trespassers: "Unfortunately, criminals and thieves have come into that building, and they destroyed the electrical system, destroyed the plumbing system, took out wire took out, copper piping." Swanson went on to say he hoped to pursue legal action against the three explorers who had found the corpse, stating: "They're trespassers, they broke into my funeral home, and they had no business being on my property." April emphasised that – like all conscientious urban explorers – they hadn't inflicted any harm and had accessed the building via an open door. Several other urban exploration teams, including a group from the Abandoned Central YouTube channel, have followed April and her mates into the chilling Swanson Funeral Home. She's also revisited the spooky site, stating: "I went back. I know it's nuts but I did. It was open just like the last time." Swanson has publicly disputed the findings of the LARA inspectors. "We didn't have a bunch of decomposing bodies inside of our facility when the state came in," he said. "They absolutely were not decomposing. They were absolutely unrefrigerated, but waiting to be processed." A family member of Swanson, who runs a nearby funeral home, emphasised that his business, which also carries the name Swanson Funeral Home, had no ties with O'Neil D. Swanson II.
