Amapiano duo TxC, consisting of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, have received a nomination in the "Best New International Act" category at the BET Awards 2025.
South Africa has four nominations for the 2025 BET Best International Act award: Tyla, Maglera Doe Boy, Dlala Thukzin, and the duo TxC.
TxC is the first DJ duo ever to be recognised in this category at the American awards show, set for June 9.
'Being the first duos to be nominated feels like we're breaking new grounds. Not just for ourselves, but for everyone who's ever felt like they've had to fit into a box to succeed.
'It shows that it is possible, I didn't think last year that we would be at the BET Awards this year, it's a surreal feeling.
'To see the growth and how far we've come as the first female duo, DJ duos, in Africa to be nominated. It's a crazy experience.'

Reid and Hefke explain that in a time where it often seems that single artists get more recognition than duos, it is an honour to be recognised.
The childhood friends have built themselves strong careers as DJs dominating in the amapiano space. They advise that to succeed as a duo things need to be personal before being business.
'We've been in each other's lives for most of our lives, even before becoming what we are today and getting to know each other personally first is what saves what we have today.
'The goal is always the same, the work ethic is always the same. We all are always on the same page. And with duos, you can't compete with each other because then that means your goal is not the same.
'As long as you allow yourselves to be your selves and not try to overpower, over be, or overdo. We also tend to keep it very real.'
'I feel like most duos don't make it far because, you know, the one starts wanting to be better than the other one. The one feels like they're getting underpaid or overpaid.
'But if everything is the same and the communication is there within that group, I don't think anything bad should happen, and I think it should only be growth from there.'
Being a public figure also means you have to put your best fashion forward and TxC are always seen in darring fashion-forward outfits. One would think that deciding on what to wear for the duo might be tough but they have developed a strategy.
Hefke explains that they sit down and talk about what looks they want to rock and share ideas on how they want to feel and look.
'Because we also don't want to just look like everyone else. You know, we always try to look different. It also depends on the event or where we would go, and what kind of party it would be. We'd always try and relate our fashion to whatever event we're attending.'
For the BET Awards Hefke and Reid say they will be working with local designers and stylists for their international red carpet experience.
TxC has released two albums they have worked with international stars such as Davido and have performed in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and FIFA Fan Festival.
They stated that they view pressure positively, explaining that it motivates them to improve and think more ambitiously.
'I don't look at pressure as something negative or, you know, a problem. I look at it as a win. I feel like pressure is always a sign that you're doing something. God wants you to do more.
'He puts pressure in front of you so that you can actually do your best.'

Robin Thicke and April Love Geary finally tie the knot after six-year engagement

Robin Thicke and April Love Geary got married after nearly a decade of them being engaged. Image: Instagram/April Love Geary After six years of being engaged, US celebrity couple Robin Thicke and April Love Geary have finally tied the knot! The newlyweds said 'I Do' on Friday, May 30, at a resort in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Giving fans a glimpse into her beachside and elegant wedding, Geary shared a picture of her stunning custom-made long-sleeved dress by Atelier Eme, an Italian bridal brand. The stunning white lace dress featured long sleeves, a high neckline, and a dramatic open back. To complete the look, she added a tiered veil with delicate lace edging that trailed elegantly behind her. Thicke wore an all black suit and simply paired it with a bow tie. For the after-party of the wedding, Geary changed into a backless short white gown. Ahead of their star-studded beachfront wedding, the 30-year-old model took to Instagram to share that the 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker proposed to her for the second time. 'Robin surprised me during our trip to Cannes by proposing to me again with a new ring that one of my best friends @nikkiwhatnikkiwho @establishedjewelry made, I'm so obsessed with it, thank you!!! 'This trip was such a dream. I love you so much @robinthicke. Also, a huge thank you to you @alilasky for clearing out the whole area and making sure there wasn't a single person getting in the way,' Geary captioned her post. Geary and Thicke started dating in 2014 and went public after they debuted their relationship in 2015 at the Cannes Film Festival. The love birds later got engaged in December 2018 and share three children: son Luca Patrick, 2, daughter Lola Alain, 4, and daughter Mia Love, 5. In 2016, the couple sparked online rumours that they secretly got married after they celebrated their second anniversary by getting matching tattoos on their ring fingers.

Royal rebels in Munich: Anele Mdoda and hubby enjoy time in Germany

While in Germany, the couple had the opportunity to mingle with retired footballers Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thiago Alcântara. Anele Mdoda and her husband Bonelela 'Buzza' James enjoyed their time in Germany over the weekend. Picture: zintathu/Instagram Broadcaster and entrepreneur Anele Mdoda and her hubby Bonelela 'Buzza' James enjoyed Germany over the weekend. The newlyweds spent the weekend in Europe to watch the UEFA Champions League final, which was held in Munich, Germany. Since tying the knot in April and making their relationship public, the pair has shared videos and images of each other on their social media pages. The couple also attended the recent Polo where Mdoda was dressed as the 'matriarch who had to look after the family business after all the men were offed by the enemy'. Photos of their traditional wedding were widely shared on social media over the weekend. James is a respected lawyer and Xhosa royal from the AbaThembu tribe. The trend pokes fun at the daily lives of married couples and how they split chores. Soon after landing in Germany, Mdoda and her husband played the game by posting James, seemingly doing all the work while on holiday. 'Hi, I'm Buzza James. I've got all the luggage, got the room key, did the check in,' says James while his wife just puts on lip gloss on her lips. 'Hi, I'm Buzza James, I found the restaurant and I ordered the food and the beers,' said James in their version of the social media trend. Looking cute, with beer in hand, Mdoda just said: 'Hi, I'm Anele,' and took a sip of her beer. While in Germany, the couple had the opportunity to mingle with retired footballers Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thiago Alcântara. 'What a dream! The city is electric & PSG's aiming for glory. Munich's got that final buzz in the air, and it's pumping. This is not just another game; it's the pinnacle of football, where swagger meets legacy,' James wrote in excitement before the game. Mdoda and James were part of a group of soccer fans that were flown to Germany by Champions League sponsors Heineken to watch the final between eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Inter Milan. SuperSport presenter Tshepang Mollison, a social media influencer popularly known as Twiggy Moli was one of the other South Africans who watched the game live at the stadium. While some got to watch the game live at the stadium, a handful of South African fans gathered to watch the match at the Dome in Nasrec, South of Johannesburg. There were performances by Kwesta, Anatii, and recent Metro FM award winner K.O. Broadcaster Robert Marawa hosted the House Ultimate Champions League Final Viewing Experience. 'It is a big occasion, not just for football lovers but for socialites,' said former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe, speaking to The Citizen on the day. 'But the main attraction is the game.'
