Now, in a further wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports, Martin has explained what can be achieved in his time as Rangers boss, and in what sort of timeframe that will be doable.
Asked if his new Rangers side can get the better of Brendan Rodgers' team, he responded: "I want us to keep improving and be the best version of ourselves that we can be.
"We have to win, and we have to win a lot. I think history shows you that when Rangers are performing and have momentum and energy, with a team of clarity and belief, it can lead to anything and to big success.
"That's what I want, so I'm here, I want to be here to win things and to feel that here, and I hope we can do that.
"The club needs new energy, it needs a fresh start. It's been a tough time for the club and Rangers fans over the last however many years.
"I think this will bring some fresh energy, it will bring some stability and it will hopefully bring a really exciting team on the pitch.
"That's the end product and that's what we all want, a team that wins and wins in a certain way and with a culture and environment that we all feel really aligned with and proud of."

The club are a little over a month away from their first competitive game of the 2025/26 season.
This will come in the form of a Champions League qualifier - a huge match for the team early in his tenure.
Martin has revealed that there are some key areas he and other key figures at Rangers will need to recruit for before that two-legged tie towards the end of July.
"There are a few positions where we'll need to strengthen fairly quickly and fairly early on," he added. "I'm also willing to be surprised and I'm open to being surprised by some of the players we have here.
"I think the way we're going to try and work and play is going to give them the best chance to show us what they've got and to give us the best version of themselves and hopefully one or two surprises.
"We'll need some help before that game for sure, but until we get in here and assess everyone, how many we'll need before the game or how realistic that is because football and the business and transfer window can be difficult.
"I'm pretty sure by then we'll have one or two people [in], to help us add to the group."

The Scotland international has been in talks with the Scottish champions over a new deal but no agreement has been reached. Brendan Rodgers has made it abundantly clear that he wants to hold onto Taylor beyond this season but he looks set to quit the Hoops in the coming weeks. We told you in December how Dinamo Zagreb were the first club to be linked with the out-of-contract ace, with PAOK recently joining them in the transfer race. However, the Greek side jumped to the front of the queue when they tabled a lucrative offer to the player this month. Reports out of Greece claim the contract includes a two-year deal with an option to extend it by a further 12 months, along with a salary that's "significantly" higher than what he earns in Glasgow. PAOK technical director Christos Karipidis has confirmed the club are waiting on a response from Taylor. And Greek outlet Sport Dog claim he's been given a deadline of the end of June to make his decision. Manager Razvan Lucescu wants his new players in the door before the start of their first pre-season training camp, which is set for the end of the month. Taylor isn't the only player the Thessaloniki outfit are holding out for. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up Another former Celtic full-back is also on their radar. The report states that ex-Hoops loanee Jonjoe Kenny has also been approached with an offer. Kenny, who had a short loan stint at Parkhead in 2021, is currently a free agent after leaving Hertha Berlin last month. Franck Ribery hits back at Cristiano Ronaldo in escalating Ballon d'Or row

Franck Ribery has previously expressed his displeasure at missing out on the Ballon d'Or in 2013 to five-time winner Cristiano Ronaldo and has once again hit out at the Portuguese forward Franck Ribery has mocked Cristiano Ronaldo 's claim about the Ballon d'Or after he revealed his three favourites. The latest iteration of the award is set to be handed out in a glitzy ceremony in Paris in September. Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele is among the favourites after helping the French side to the Champions League for the first time. Lamine Yamal and Mohamed Salah have also been mentioned as contenders for the award. ‌ Meanwhile, five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo has offered his take on this year's frontrunners and claimed that Dembele could be the favourite after his European success. He said: 'The individual awards have lost some consensus, I can't say anything about who should win. ‌ 'In my opinion, those who stand out and win the Champions League should win. But there is no consensus. 'I don't believe much in individual awards because I know what goes on behind the scenes. Lamine [Yamal] could win, like [Ousmane] Dembele or Vitinha, other emerging players… but individual awards are irrelevant.' Ribery has since replied with a scathing comment on social media. 'So you NEED to win the Champions League to win the Ballon d'Or?,' Ribery asked on Twitter alongside three laughing emojis. It is not the first time that Ribery has expressed his annoyance at missing out on the Ballon d'Or. The Frenchman was among the front-runners for the award back in 2013 after helping Bayern Munich to the Champions League crown. But he ended up finishing third behind Messi and Ronaldo - the latter claiming the crown with 27.99% of the votes. And that is a call that still wrangles with Ribery to his day. ‌ Who should win this year's Ballon d'Or? Share your thoughts in the comments below 'It was unfair," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this year. "It was an incredible season for me, and I should have won it. They extended the time for votes, and something strange happened. I felt that it was a political choice." Ronaldo has since added a further three Ballon d'Ors to his collection, his last coming in 2017 when he was still with Real Madrid. His former teammates Luka Modric and Karim Benzema have won the award since, with Messi also scooping a further two. Manchester City midfielder Rodri is the current holder after becoming the first Premier League player since Ronaldo in 2008 to win the award.
