Spain are among the continent's most successful basketball nations and are the reigning EuroBasket champions.
World basketball governing body Fiba has announced that Spain are among four countries to host the 2029 edition.
Madrid 's 80,000-seater Bernabeu is set to host the opening game of the tournament, likely to be Spain against a leading contender.
The curtain-raiser could set a new Fiba attendance record, with the largest attendance currently standing at 38,115, set at Philippine Arena two years ago.
Real Madrid's iconic home has undergone substantial renovations in recent years - now featuring a retractable roof and huge LED screens.
In addition to the curtain raiser, final phase games are also set to take place in Spain.
Other games in Madrid are to be held at the 16,000-seater Movistar Arena.
In addition to the Spanish capital - Athens, Tallinn and Ljubljana will also host games.
Fiba Europe president Jorge Garbajosa said: "We are excited to bring FIBA EuroBasket 2029 to some of Europe's prime basketball destinations, each with a strong basketball culture and a clear commitment to delivering an outstanding event.
"We look forward to working closely with the host countries to ensure a successful and memorable tournament for teams, fans, and partners alike."
Fiba chief Kamil Novak added: "The interest our National Federations have shown in organising this event speaks to the growing profile and prestige of Fiba EuroBasket.
"We thank all the bidders for their outstanding proposals and extend our best wishes to the four hosts as they begin their journey toward delivering a fantastic tournament."
This summer's EuroBasket is set to take place in Cyprus, Finland, Latvia, and Poland.
The tournament will run between August 27 and September 14 - and could feature the likes of Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic.

Club World Cup winners will get to wear special golden badge for FOUR YEARS

The winner of this summer's highly-anticipated Club World Cup will get to wear a special badge on their shirts for the next four years. The tournament will get underway on June 14, kicking off a busy month of football for the 32 teams involved. It will be held at various venues across the United States and involve the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG. And the first winner of the expanded version of the competition will have a a golden badge on their shirts recognising their achievement until the next edition takes place in 2029. The design of the crest is yet to be revealed but it will likely be similar to the one Man City have had on their kit since they won the Club World Cup two years ago. City have been allowed to wear it for back-to-back campaigns as the tournament did not take place in 2024 with the Fifa Intercontinental Cup taking place instead. This year's tournament will consist of 32 teams a stark contrast compared to the old format which only included seven teams from the six FIFA confederations. As a result of the expanded pot of teams, instead of seven games being played across 11 days, the event will see 63 fixtures crammed into 28 days. While the competition may be viewed as an after-thought by some fans, it comes with a lucrative award - as the winners of the tournament will receive up to £97million ($125million) from FIFA. A £774million ($1billion) will be shared between the 32 clubs - in addition to a £406million ($525million) participation fee shared based on sporting and commercial criteria, with a further £368million ($475million) shared based on sporting performance.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal sends golf fans into meltdown with bizarre swing

Rafael Nadal left golf players and fans in shock after a video emerged of the tennis legend taking on TPC Sawgrass. Nadal recently bid an emotional farewell to Roland Garros, where he won a record 14 titles during an incredible career on clay. The Spaniard, 39, retired from tennis last year and he recently swapped the court for the course, playing a round at Sawgrass. Nadal took on the 18 holes that host the Players Championship every year - including the iconic 17th with its island green and picturesque views. Reports claim the Spaniard is a scratch golfer but his swing left many fans - and even players - baffled on Tuesday. Despite being one of the most destructive left-handers in history, Nadal plays golf right handed. His technique, meanwhile, reminded many of his brutal double-handed backhand. A walk around THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at @TPCSawgrass with tennis legend, @RafaelNadal. — THE PLAYERS (@THEPLAYERS) June 3, 2025 The Players posted a clip of Nadal's trip to Sawgrass and the footage quickly went viral. 'Guy turned his backhand into a golf swing… pretty crazy move haha, wrote PGA Tour star Michael Kim. Those thoughts were echoed by many fans on social media. 'That swing is wild,' one wrote. 'Looks like he's hitting a backhand,' said another. 'Every swing I pictured a racket in his hands,' said a third, while a fourth added: 'Playing to scratch with that move is the proof he's one of the most athletic humans to walk the earth.' The former world No 1 won 22 grand slams during a remarkable career that saw him tussle with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in one of the greatest eras in history. 'Being for the first time here, it's an amazing feeling,' he said during his round at Sawgrass. 'It's crazy because on TV I see the 17th green and it looks much bigger than when you are here.' Later, when approaching on the daunting tee box, he added: 'Imagine being here, the last day, playing this shot... it's pressure. I can feel that!' But Nadal nevertheless appeared to make par on the tough 17th.
