Don't relieve player from coaching camp: HC to kabaddi assn
The high court of Bombay at Goa has directed the
Goa Kabaddi Association
not to relieve professional kabaddi player
Bhavani Rajput
from the ongoing
residential coaching camp
at circuit house, Altinho. This is to prepare for the
National Federation Cup
, which will be held from May 2 to 4 at Amravati.
The high court has also issued a notice to the
Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India
in a petition filed by Rajput. He stated that he was relieved by the Goa Kabaddi Association from the coaching camp and that he cannot represent Goa based on a letter from the federation.
The federation, in a letter on April 17 this year, stated that each player should strictly represent his or her respective state unit only. Exceptions are allowed in special cases of relocation of players due to the transfer of a govt employee, marriage, or unavoidable circumstances, which may be considered under exceptional cases.
The association informed him on April 19 that he cannot be accommodated in the Goa state team for the
Federation Cup 2025
and stands relieved.
The high court will hear the case again on Monday.

Asia Cup 2025: Can United Arab Emirates upset India & Pakistan? UAE head coach says ‘It's not about overconfidence'
The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) are taking confidence from their T20I series victory over Bangladesh recently to upset bigger teams like India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, opined head coach Lalchand Rajput. UAE are clubbed with India, Oman and Pakistan in Group A. UAE started with a loss in the first game but bounced back with back-to-back wins to win the series. Rajput, a former India cricketer, emphasised on the UAE cricketers' skills, especially their fielding, to outfox the opponents. They will also be playing a tri-series involving Pakistan and Afghanistan shortly to prepare for the Asia Cup 2025. 'The UAE squad is drawn in a challenging Asia Cup group alongside India, Pakistan and Oman, but you never know — anything can happen. We can upset any team,' Rajput, who oversaw India's 2007 T20 World Cup win in South Africa, said. "We are focusing on skills, fitness, and fielding. "Playing against better teams requires players to be mentally strong and physically fit. Fitness is very important. Players' improvement and form are essential — they cannot remain stagnant. We want to keep building on the momentum,' added Rajput to Gulf News. Beating Bangladesh is not an overconfidence for UAE and Rajput but a confidence to upset big teams in future. 'Beating Test-playing countries, especially Bangladesh, gave us a lot of confidence. It's not about overconfidence — it's about believing we can compete and win against anyone," he said. "Playing these top-ranked teams gives our players a big platform. It's a chance to know themselves and build momentum heading into the Asia Cup. If you can beat a team like Bangladesh, why not aim for bigger upsets? Our players are excited and ready to take that challenge.' UAE will start their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against India on September 10.

Women's Kabaddi World Cup postponed indefinitely
The second Women's Kabaddi World Cup, which was scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from August 3 to 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, has been indefinitely postponed. This is the second time the event has been rescheduled, after it was originally slated to be held in Bihar in June. The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), in a letter to the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), which The Hindu has seen, stated that the decision was made due to the 'non-timely submissions of team contingent administrative details,' which caused an issue in 'obtaining clearances from the concerned Ministries.' AKFI also said that it will not accept any changes to the existing list of participating countries, stating that it would 'derail the administrative process for timely clearances.' Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Netherlands, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, Poland and India are the 14 countries taking part in the event. According to various sources, the tournament will now take place in Hyderabad following the conclusion of the Pro Kabaddi League, which gets underway in Vizag on August 29.

Hyderabad to host women's kabaddi World Cup in August
The second Women's Kabaddi World Cup will take place in Hyderabad from August 3 to 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Bihar in June. 'When Bihar pulled out, we requested the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India to have the event take place in Telangana, and they obliged. We want to encourage women's kabaddi, even if it doesn't always get many sponsors. Hyderabad had hosted the Asian Kabaddi Championship in 2005, and now, 20 years later, the city will be hosting another international women's kabaddi tournament,' Kasani Veeresh, president of the Telangana Kabaddi Association, told The Hindu. Fourteen countries are set to take part in the tournament. Host India and 12 others — Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Holland, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda and Zanzibar — have confirmed their participation, with Poland the only one yet to give the green light.
