Anna Camp defends 18-year age gap with girlfriend
Anna Camp, 42, defended her relationship with girlfriend Jade Whipkey, 24, following backlash to their 18-year age difference.
'I've dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,' the actress wrote in the comments of an Instagram post celebrating their red carpet debut last week.
'We have more in common than anyone else I've ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything,' Camp continued.
'Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm wishing everyone well. Especially this Pride month.'
The star's response came after several online users expressed their disapproval over her romance with Whipkey.
'Just cuz they are gay doesn't excuse the weird ahh age gap [sic],' one critic commented on the same Instagram post.
'I'm in my mid 30s and I can't imagine having the necessary common ground to start a relationship with a 20 year old. What could they possibly have in common?' another wrote.
A third person claimed, 'Regardless of celebrity or gender: if a 42 year old is with a 24 year old, it's about power or control, even on a subconscious level.'
Camp and Whipkey made their red carpet debut last Wednesday at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Bride Hard' at the DGA Theatre Complex.
They smiled happily and wrapped their arms around each other while posing for photos at the event.
The actress and the on-set stylist confirmed their romance with a photo shared on Instagram Stories in May.
'Her smile is a poem, her eyes are roses, her laugh is music for dancing,' Whipkey captioned the snap of Camp at an outdoor restaurant.
Days later, the duo was seen passionately kissing while out in LA.
Camp was previously linked to drummer Michael Johnson following her divorce from Skylar Astin.
She and her Pitch Perfect co-star were married for three years from 2016 to 2019.

A veteran US freestyle rapper has suffered a medical emergency while in the middle of a rap battle. T-Rex – real name Randy Sullivan – was freestyling against his opponent Geechi Gotti at the Ultimate Rap Battle's NOME 15 event at the Gramercy Theatre in New York when he collapsed and appeared to have a seizure live on stage. In a clip going viral on social media, the Harlem battle rap legend – who was headlining the event on Sunday – was midway through the first round when he abruptly fell to the floor and began to convulse. His collapse caused panic among his crew, who tried to pull the rapper back up before urging each other to 'turn him on his side'. Paramedics soon arrived to transport him to a nearby hospital, with rap media outlet Let's Talk Battle Rap providing an update from the event. 'Rex was conscious before the Paramedics left to the hospital,' they tweeted. In the wake of the shocking incident, T-Rex took to social media to confirm he's doing better after friend and battle rap nurse Juiceboxxx, who was by his side, tweeted, 'Right place. Right time. ‘Irreconcilable': Hollywood couple divorce after 14 years together
Dermot Mulroney and Prima Apollinaare are calling it quits after 14 years of marriage. The actor filed for divorce from the singer (born Tharita Cesaroni) in Los Angeles on Monday, according to documents obtained by Page Six. Mulroney cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their split and listed their separation date as 'TBD.' The actor, 61, requested that the court grant him spousal support, but asked for it to be terminated for Apollinaare, 52. The requested terms for child support and custody for the estranged couple's two kids, Mabel, 17, and Sally, 15, have yet to be determined. Reps for Mulroney and Apollinaare weren't immediately available to Page Six for comment. Mulroney and the Italian native got married in 2008 following Mulroney's split from his first ex-wife, Catherine Keener, whom he was wed from 1990 to 2007. Mulroney previously got candid about quickly tying the knot to Apollinaare during a 2012 appearance on The Rosie Show. 'A lot of it doesn't make sense, but you can't deny your heart,' he said. Apollinaare has previously shown her support for her estranged husband's career, telling Entertainment Weekly that she's seen 'all of his movies.' 'To be honest with you, I think the only movie I did not see of his is Scream VI, not because I don't care for it, it's just I don't care for the genre,' Apollinaare said in February 2024, referring to Mulroney's 2023 horror film. 'But I always think his movies are excellent. I really like it.' Last year, the Anybody But You star and Apollinaare made an appearance on Fox's game show We Are Family. At the time, the duo performed a rendition of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers' 1983 hit, Island in the Stream. Gushing over the duet, Mulroney told Entertainment Weekly how he and Apollinaare are a 'musical family and have that in common.'
