Deaf-and-mute boy (5) & girl (6) wander off, found on railway tracks after 5-hour drama
Nagpur: There was a five-hour-long, edge-of-the-seat drama after a five-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy, both hearing and speech impaired, went missing from their relatives' residence at Aradhana Nagar on Sunday.
The frantic search ended only when the two were found aimlessly walking along an under-maintenance railway track in the wee hours of Monday. The search teams heaved a sigh of relief at 2.30am after many tense hours, with the search even including a water-filled ditch amid fears the two may have drowned.
Police said the boy and girl, natives of Bihar, had come to Nagpur to visit relatives around a fortnight ago. On Sunday, the two, who were from different families, left home to play at around 5pm but soon lost track of their house.
The families, left on tenterhooks when the two did not return, approached Wathoda police station at 9pm. The cops immediately started a search on a war footing.
Apart from forming teams, Zonal DCP Rashmitha Rao, ACP Narendra Hiware, and Senior PI Harish Borade also roped in local residents to fan out in different directions. Photographs of the boy and the girl were circulated in local WhatsApp groups. Announcements were made through the public address systems in nearby localities and colonies.

The scariest part came when a woman recalled seeing the boy and girl playing near a ditch filled with water under a railway bridge. The cops immediately summoned a rescue team. A local diver, Guddu Shewane, took the initiative to jump into the water. The cops were anxious as footprints of the minors could be seen near the ditch. The cops and the aggrieved families were relieved after the search yielded nothing.
As the search continued, someone alerted cops about seeing the boy and girl near Chhattarpur farms on the outskirts of the city. Some others had seen the boy and girl walking along the railway tracks where gauge conversion work was underway. The cops, families of the missing minors, volunteers, and others rushed towards the railway track with mobile phone torches and rechargeable LED lights.
The boy and girl were finally spotted walking along the track, trying to find a way back home. "The minors were traumatised but safe," said ACP Hiware, adding they were reunited with their families after completing the formalities.

Pahalgam attack: Two locals helped Pakistani attackers for a few thousands
NEW DELHI: The two Kashmiris arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday not only harboured the three Pahalgam attackers for two days in their 'dhok' (hut) in Hill Area, located around 2 km from Baisaran, before the latter headed out to massacre 26 civilians but also tipped them off on the deployment of security personnel in and around the attack site "in return for a few thousand rupees". Sources aware of NIA probe told TOI that three Pakistani terrorists affiliated to Lashkar were sheltered by accused Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar in the seasonal 'dhok' on April 20 and 21, immediately preceding the fateful day. NIA had said on Sunday the accused "knowingly provided the Pakistani terrorists food, shelter & other logistical support". On Monday, Parvaiz and Bashir were produced before the NIA court in Jammu, which remanded them to NIA custody for five days. The agency said though the accused had disclosed the identities of the three attackers, it was carefully analysing a "large body of evidence" gathered, including eyewitness accounts, video footage, technical evidence and sketches released by J&K police. "NIA has not reached any conclusions. .. the identities and further details of the terrorists will be made public at an appropriate time," the agency said. A source told TOI that Parvaiz and Bashir were not just passive supporters but active facilitators in the April 22 terror act involving the gunning down of 25 tourists based on their religious identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mistura chinesa faz cabelo crescer e homem fica irreconhecível Resultados em 30 dias Undo "They studied the area domination exercises undertaken from time to time and the pattern of security deployment at the attack site in Baisaran, and shared the report or findings with the Pakistani terrorists, helping them plan their approach to the attack site, the actual massacre as well as the subsequent escape," an officer told TOI. "The accused were fully aware of the plans to hit tourists since Baisaran was teeming with visitors at the time. Since they were also operating pony rides in the area, they were fully aware of the police/security pickets at the attack site, the gap between consecutive area domination exercises and the pattern of deployment of troops at the site. Despite being aware of the terrorists' intentions, they willingly shared these details, making themselves active participants in the Pahalgam terror attack conspiracy," a source said. When confronted by NIA, Parvaiz and Bashir claimed that though they knew of plans to unleash a terror strike, they had no idea that tourists in Baisaran were the target. This explanation, however, has few takers. The accused admitted to having facilitated the terrorists in snuffing out 26 innocent lives in lieu of "chand hazaar rupaiye".

Court: Prima facie proof of Mithi tender manipulation
Mumbai: In its detailed rejection order, the sessions court stated that prima facie evidence indicates Prashant Tayshete, along with other BMC officers, played a role in manipulating the tender terms and conditions to ensure the use of two specific machines for the Mithi River desilting work. While the anticipatory bail plea of the deputy chief engineer of the stormwater drains department (operation & maintenance) was rejected on Saturday in the Rs 65 crore scam, the detailed order was made available on Monday. The judge further said that the terms and conditions were prepared in a manner to give an advantage to Matprop Technical Services Pvt Ltd at such a rate that caused wrongful loss to BMC. "It is an economic offence involving public money. Considering the nature of the offence, the post held by the applicant in the process of the project, and the wrongful loss of public money to the local body, the applicant is not entitled to the discretionary relief of anticipatory bail," Judge NG Shukla said. The judge, however, granted him interim protection from arrest for two weeks after he sought time to file an appeal in the High Court. Tayshete submitted that he was consistently employed within the solid waste management department and held no responsibilities in the storm water drain department. The judge, however, said this claim lacked documentary support. — Rebecca Samervel Mumbai: In its detailed rejection order, the sessions court stated that prima facie evidence indicates Prashant Tayshete, along with other BMC officers, played a role in manipulating the tender terms and conditions to ensure the use of two specific machines for the Mithi River desilting work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo While the anticipatory bail plea of the deputy chief engineer of the stormwater drains department (operation & maintenance) was rejected on Saturday in the Rs 65 crore scam, the detailed order was made available on Monday. The judge, however, granted him interim protection from arrest for two weeks after he sought time to file an appeal in the Bombay High Court. Tayshete submitted that he was consistently employed within the solid waste management (SWM) department and held no responsibilities in the storm water drain (SWD) department. The judge, however, said this claim lacked documentary support. The judge further said that reports dated Nov 4 and 23, 2020, indicated his involvement or charge within the SWD department. The judge further noted that Tayshete, along with other BMC officers, visited Kerala and Delhi between Sept 25 and 28, 2020. While co-accused Prashant Ramagude, and he claimed to have paid for hotel bills in Kerala, flight tickets and hotel booking records indicate that these expenses were covered by Ketan Kadam, CEO of M/s Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd, a company that subsequently leased machines to contractors at inflated rates. Crucially, at the time of this visit, the terms and conditions for using these specific machines in the desilting work had not yet been approved by higher BMC authorities. The fact that Ketan Kadam bore the expenses for the BMC officers' visit and stay prima facie suggested a "hand-in-glove" arrangement between the BMC officers and Ketan Kadam. This arrangement, the judge said, appeared to have been designed to insert specific terms and conditions for machine usage into the tenders, ensuring future benefits for Ketan Kadam and other contractors. "The criminal element of cheating lies here. It is unbelievable that the applicant, who was working as the officer of high rank, i.e., Executive Engineer, was not aware of who was bearing the expenses of their visits and stay at Delhi and Kerala," the judge said. The judge further observed that following the visit to Delhi and Kerala, three reports were submitted to incorporate specific terms and conditions into the tender for the use of specific machines, which were to be supplied by M/s Matprop Technical Services Pvt Ltd. *Meanwhile, on Monday, the court granted the anticipatory bail pleas of Deepak Mohan (56) and Kishore Menon (54) of Matprop Company, who were also named in the case. Calling the allegations concocted, their plea said that with over 30 machines deployed to government and private agencies, the company has proven its expertise and reliability. It said that given a strong track record, including projects like the Parvathy-Puthanar rejuvenation, the current case is unwarranted. Implicating the reputable applicants risks severe reputational damage, harassment, and hardship, which would harm the company's goodwill and disrupt ongoing national projects, the plea said.

2 more fake call centres that scammed foreign nationals dismantled in Mohali
1 2 Mohali: Just five days after Mohali police busted two fake call centres with the arrest of eight persons, the Range Anti-Narcotics-cum-Special Operation Cell dismantled two more high-tech scam hubs masquerading as call centres in Phase 7, Mohali. The bust, which led to the arrest of 10 persons, has unveiled a sprawling international fraud network suspected to have siphoned off nearly Rs 50 crore from unsuspecting foreign nationals. Manchanda Tower's double life Behind the glass façade of Manchanda Tower, two floors buzzed with illicit activity. The first floor housed a sinister operation exploiting PayPal, Amazon, and Bitcoin alerts to instill fear and extract money. The third floor posed as a travel agency — MS Waynva Travel Pvt Ltd — but was anything but legitimate. First Floor: The Crypto Conspiracy A tip-off received by inspector Darbara Singh triggered a swift raid on the first floor. There, police apprehended Manmeet Singh Banwait, the alleged kingpin, along with five operatives: Anmol Malhotra, Jasneet Kaur, Armita, Gurpreet Singh, and Vugsam Hungyo alias Sam. DSP (Cyber) Rupinderdeep Kaur Sohi said the accused targeted foreigners by sending fake email alerts impersonating PayPal, claiming fraudulent transactions involving Bitcoin purchases. Victims were tricked into calling toll-free numbers generated via the Exlite app, where scammers warned them of alleged account hacking and illegal activity. The calls were then 'transferred' to fake bank representatives who convinced victims to buy Apple gift cards or transfer money through cryptocurrency. The funds were later converted to cash via hawala channels in India. Third Floor: The Travel Trap Simultaneously, another team stormed the third floor, uncovering a parallel scam under the guise of MS Waynva Travel Pvt Ltd. Five more suspects — Morya Nath alias Christopher (Aerocity, Mohali); Ishwar Kumar (Swaraj Enclave, Santemajra, Kharar); Rinchen Vinayal (GBP Kharar); Dolly Kumari (Shivalik City, Kharar) — were arrested, accused of orchestrating travel-related cons targeting foreigners. The team seized 4 CPUs, 4 headphones, and 5 mobile phones from the location. The accused lured foreign nationals via a website ( advertising low-cost air tickets. Once contact was established, they obtained the victims' debit and credit card details and charged them using illegally obtained payment gateways. The victims never received any tickets, and the accused siphoned off the money in Indian currency after commission deductions by the gateway operators. A bigger network All accused were produced before a local court and remanded to one-day police custody. Police said further interrogation is underway to uncover the wider network involved in these international scams. Police have not ruled out the possibility of involvement of more accomplices, including payment gateway handlers and hawala operators. Investigations are ongoing. The recovery: 5 laptops, 5 headphones, 9 mobile phones, One Toyota Fortuner, one Honda Jazz (Mohali number), and one Hyundai Verna (Delhi number) used in the operation.
