"Every citizen has come out with the tricolour in their hands:" Tarun Chugh participates in Tiranga rally

India Gazette20-05-2025

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], May 20 (ANI): BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh participated in a Tiranga Yatra organised in Amritsar to honour the Indian armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor.
Speaking to ANI, he said, 'Every resident of Amritsar has come out to participate in the Tiranga Yatra organised in Amritsar to honour the Indian armed forces...Every citizen has come out with the tricolour in their hands...'
On Monday, the Tiranga Yatra was successfully organised in New Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha, promoting unity and pride among participants.
In Himachal Pradesh's Pangi area of Chamba district, the locals marched at an altitude of 13,570 ft above sea level to honour the valour of the Indian Armed Forces. They held tri-coloured flags and chanted slogans such as 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai!' (Victory to Bharat Mata!)'.
On May 18, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also participated and led the 'Tiranga Yatra' in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, in honour of the Indian Armed Forces, following the success of Operation Sindoor.
In a post on X, Shah wrote, 'The brave soldiers of the country have made Operation Sindoor synonymous with the elimination of terrorism with their valour. Live from the Tiranga Yatra organised in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha in honour of the soldiers on the historic success of this operation...'
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched the 'Tiranga Yatra' on May 13 and will continue until May 23. The yatra aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's recent success.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Following the strikes, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling and attempted drone attacks. In response, India launched coordinated airstrikes that damaged key military infrastructure across 11 Pakistani airbases. On May 10, both sides announced an understanding on the cessation of hostilities. (ANI)

BJP, ECI hit back at Rahul Gandhi's ‘match-fixing' allegations in Maharashtra polls

The Election Commission rejected the charges, calling them absurd and an attempt to malign the institution. EC sources told the media that no Congress candidates or their authorised agents had raised any credible complaints about irregular voting during scrutiny before returning officers and election observers. They said that the voter lists in Maharashtra, like elsewhere in India, are prepared according to the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The BJP also hit back strongly, accusing Gandhi of undermining democratic institutions and eroding public trust in elections. Party president JP Nadda dismissed Gandhi's article as a 'blueprint for manufacturing a fake narrative.' He accused Gandhi of spreading conspiracy theories and defaming institutions out of 'frustration and desperation' over repeated electoral losses. 'Congress gets defeated election after election due to his antics,' Nadda said. 'Instead of introspecting, he cooks up bizarre conspiracies, cries foul, and defames institutions without any proof.' Responding to the EC's source-based statements, Gandhi posted on X, 'Releasing unsigned, evasive notes to intermediaries is not the way to respond to serious questions. You are a Constitutional body. If you have nothing to hide, answer the questions in my article and prove it by: Publishing consolidated, digital, machine-readable voter rolls for the most recent elections to the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas of all states including Maharashtra and releasing all post-5 pm CCTV footage from Maharashtra polling booths. Evasion won't protect your credibility. Telling the truth will,' he said. Citing a rise in voter turnout, Gandhi said, 'The polling turnout at 5 pm was 58.22 per cent. Even after voting closed, however, turnout kept increasing more and more. The final turnout was reported only the next morning to be 66.05 percent.' He said the jump of 7.83 percentage points equals 76 lakh voters, much higher than in past Maharashtra assembly elections. Gandhi also highlighted that new voters were added in only 12,000 booths across 85 constituencies—seats the BJP went on to win. In response, EC sources said over 6.4 crore voters cast their votes in Maharashtra between 7 am and 6 pm. They noted that about 58 lakh votes were cast each hour on average, which means roughly 1.16 crore voters could have voted in the last two hours. "Therefore, the casting of 65 lakh votes by electors in two hours is much below the average hourly voting trend," an EC official said.

Punjab: AAP attacks BJP's Sirsa over his 'tarnished legacy', claims Delhi is in decline under BJP rule

Ludhiana, June 7 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has attacked BJP leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa over his "baseless accusations" against the Punjab government. AAP leaders Malvinder Kang and Neel Garg attacked Sirsa's for what they described as his "questionable past and the rapid deterioration of governance in Delhi under the BJP's watch". They labelled Sirsa as unfit to preach to Punjabis. Kang minced no words in pointing out Sirsa's role as the OSD to Sukhbir Singh Badal during the decade-long SAD-BJP rule in Punjab. "Everyone knows what that era was about—corruption, the proliferation of drugs, and a complete collapse of governance. Sirsa was not just a bystander; he was a part of that rotten system," Kang said. He also highlighted Sirsa's "alleged misappropriation" of nearly Rs 1 crore of Gurdwara funds, which led to an FIR filed by Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing in 2021. "When the law started catching up, Sirsa didn't turn to BJP out of ideology; he joined them to save himself from jail," Kang asserted. Neel Garg criticised Manjinder Singh Sirsa's role as a Cabinet Minister in Delhi, highlighting the "glaring failures" of the BJP government in just a few months. He pointed to the "severe water crisis brought about by the resurgence of the Tanker Mafia, daily power cuts reminiscent of an era when inverters were essential, and skyrocketing private school fees that have become an unbearable burden for parents". Garg also underlined the "closure of Mohalla Clinics due to staff shortages, the removal of bus marshalls that has compromised women's safety, and the delayed pensions leaving widows and senior citizens in distress". "These failures reflect the BJP's inability to govern and their dismantling of the systems AAP had painstakingly built to serve the people," Garg stated. "The BJP has dismantled everything AAP built in Delhi. The people of Delhi are already regretting their decision and are openly saying, 'We made a mistake, we want AAP back,'' Garg claimed. AAP leaders "reminded Sirsa of his hypocrisy in criticizing Punjab's AAP government while turning a blind eye to his own misdeeds and the BJP's failures". Garg further questioned Sirsa's connection to Punjab, calling him "an opportunist" from Haryana meddling in Punjab's politics. "When Sirsa was OSD to Sukhbir Badal, he enjoyed Punjab's resources and salaries. Now, he points fingers at the same state he exploited,' Garg said. UNI GS RN

The poll body said, "After any unfavourable verdict by the voters, trying to defame the Election Commission by saying that it is compromised is completely absurd."Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi, while sharing his op-ed in The Indian Express, claimed that the Maharashtra Assembly polls were conducted in a manner that favoured the BJP and alleged that the voter lists were inflated with fake further alleged that the law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners and the Chief Election Commissioner was amended to heavily favour the Centre by removing the Chief Justice of India (CJI) from the panel responsible for their Election Commission dismissed Rahul Gandhi's "match-fixing" claims, stating that the entire voting process was conducted transparently, with polling agents from all political parties poll panel noted that Congress's authorised agents never raised any objections or complaints about abnormal voting. It appears that all these facts are completely being ignored while raising such issues again and again."The Congress-led INDIA bloc suffered a humiliating loss in the Assembly elections last year, managing to win only 46 of the 288 seats, months after it had surpassed the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the Maharashtra Lok Sabha this dismal performance, Rahul Gandhi claimed that 70 lakh voters were mysteriously added to Maharashtra's electoral rolls between the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
