Following this deep playoff run, the front office quickly got to work making improvements. Their biggest swing in the offseason was trading for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Paired with Terry McLaurin (whenever his holdout comes to an end), he will provide Daniels with a pair of wideouts capable of ripping off a big play at any moment.
Still in the early stages of their time together, Daniels seems to approve of the Commanders' latest offensive addition. While at "Fanatic Fest" last week, the rising star gave his thoughts on Samuel entering the fold. Daniels jokingly said he can't wait for veteran WR to inflate his passing numbers with his dynamic skill set.
"I'm excited to throw him a little screen and hopefully on the stat sheet it says a touchdown for 80 yards and I didn't have to do any of the work," Daniels said with a grin.

Samuel, 29, is coming off a down year with the Niners to his standards. Across 15 appearances, he racked totaled 670 yards and three touchdowns. Both are the third-lowest marks for any given season in his career.
Now with a chance of scenery, Samuel has a chance to get back in the conversation with the league's best wideouts. He is flanked by a young QB who is looking to make a name for himself and isn't scared to let the ball fly. Also, with McLaurin drawing attention from opposing secondary, lanes should open up for Samuel to impact games on a weekly basis.
After being part of a handful of deep runs in San Francisco, Samuel will now attempt to help his new team rise to contender status in the NFC.

He only led the NFL in passing yards twice, and unfortunately, when you shared the league with guys like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees, among others, you couldn't get much traction from the national media when your team wins but you don't put up huge numbers. But what Roethlisberger did was win. And elevate the play of his teammates. Roethlisberger was 165-81-1 as a starter in 18 years and led the Steelers to two Super Bowl championships. McCoy also has two Super Bowl titles, both late in his career when he was largely a backup and just moving from team to team. If I want an opinion on a quarterback, I'm taking Roethlisberger over McCoy every time.

"The Mariners didn't do much to address their offensive woes in the offseason, getting Donovan Solano and Miles Mastrobuoni and little else," Brisbee wrote. "Their biggest offseason acquisition might have been Rowdy Tellez, both literally and figuratively, but he's since been designated for assignment. Cal Raleigh's great season is playing a big part in keeping Seattle Mariners in the hunt "If you pointed this out before the season, nobody was going to retort with, 'Oh, yeah? Well, maybe Big Dumper hits 60 homers this season, you ever think about that?'" Brisbee wrote. Seattle fans, of course, know that "Big Dumper" is Raleigh's nickname. But that all went away pretty quickly. Advertisement Twins starter Simeon Woods Richardson (3-4) went five scoreless innings, keeping Mariners' hitters off-balance. Minnesota staked its claim to the victory with an eight-run sixth inning. Brooks Lee homered off Seattle reliever Zach Popo to lead off the inning. Byron Buxton and Willi Castro followed with RBI doubles, Carlos Correa added a two-run single, and Wallner added a two-run homer. For the Twins, it marked their biggest offensive outburst since scoring nine runs in the first inning against the New York Yankees back in 2023. The Thursday win came on the heels of Wednesday's 2-0 Minnesota win over Seattle on Wednesday. It's the first time that the Twins have won back-to-back games since winning three in a row back on June 3-5, according to The AP. Before this happened, Minnesota had lost 15 of 18 games.
