(WFRV) – Planning to fly within the United States? Make sure your identification is REAL ID compliant, as federal requirements are now in effect.
In Wisconsin, you can tell if your driver's license or state ID is compliant by checking for a star in the upper right-hand corner.

REAL IDs are required for domestic air travel and for accessing certain federal facilities, such as military bases or federal buildings.

(WFRV) – Area high school students interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement got an up-close look at the profession during the 25th annual multi-jurisdictional teen police academy. The program provides students the opportunity to engage with local law enforcement agencies and learn about various roles beyond the traditional patrol officer. Children's Museum of Green Bay promotes healthy choices through new 'Taste of Summer' event 'Definitely more to it than just a cop on a street or a cop on TV,' said Stella Starry, a second-year attendee and student at Notre Dame Academy. 'I've learned about the different options that you have. It's not just a patrol officer that you see on TV—it's more that you can do, and it's so many behind-the-scenes work that happens too.' On Wednesday, students were introduced to the Green Bay Police Department's K-9 unit. Police dog Nox joined them in the classroom, where students observed how K-9s are trained and how they assist officers on calls. The academy is open to high school students in the area and is designed to help them determine whether law enforcement might be the right career path. Kemps partners with Midwest food banks, donates nearly 800,000 milk cartons including 30,000 in Wisconsin 'They really get a behind-the-scenes feel of what it is like to become a police officer,' said Green Bay Police Communications Coordinator Jennifer Gonzalez. 'It is a perfect program for kids in high school who are just thinking about what to do after high school, what to do in college.' Second defendant convicted in human trafficking sexual assault case in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A second illegal immigrant found in Fond du Lac County has been convicted of human trafficking sexual assault involving his co-defendant's daughter. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Juan Carlos Rocha-Mejia was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child after pleading no contest. 42-year-old Wisconsin man arrested for 4th OWI after swerving in between multiple lanes Co-defendant Elia Antonio, the mother of the victim, was previously convicted of human trafficking of a child, failure to protect a child, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. Bond was revoked for Rocha-Mejia, and the judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation. 'Today is another step towards justice for the survivor, with the second defendant being convicted for a disgusting attack on a child,' said Toney. 'We look forward to the upcoming sentencing hearings to hold both defendants accountable and help the survivor move past the court process. I am grateful for the excellent investigative efforts by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and ADA Menzl.' The investigation revealed that Rocha-Mejia and Antonio are illegally in the United States. The convictions stem from a sexual assault of Elia Antonio's daughter on March 18, 2024. Antonio gave her daughter to Rocha-Mejia to be sexually assaulted for approximately $250. Rocha-Mejia held the child in a van and attempted to duct-tape her as he began to sexually assault her. Multiple hurt in Sheboygan County crash involving dump truck, one severely injured The victim bravely fought back, biting Rocha-Mejia, and escaped to a nearby residence. The defendant's DNA and the survivor's DNA were found on duct tape located in the van. Rocha-Mejia faces up to 40 years of initial confinement. The sentencing hearing for Rocha-Mejia is scheduled for August 21, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., and the sentencing for Elia Antonio is set for the same day at 11:00 a.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Discover Green Bay released data from 2024, showing a record-breaking year for both economic impact and visitor numbers in Brown County. A significant part of this success was credited to key venues like Lambeau Field, Titletown, and the Resch Expo Center. 'The Resch Expo has been a huge, huge addition to the tourism mix in the area,' said Brad Toll, president and CEO of Discover Green Bay. Family & Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin holds monthly diaper giveaway Since its opening in 2021, the Resch Expo has helped attract major events to Green Bay, but Toll emphasized that visitors often overlook local businesses that contribute to Brown County's popularity. 'We have great attractions here,' Toll said. 'This year, looking at the botanical gardens, they've got an awesome exhibit—that is plastic that has been collected from promotions—that has been turned into art. Our attractions give us something to promote.' Visitor spending in 2024 broke down into five main categories: Food & beverage – $209.7 million Lodging – $178.7 million Retail – $165.5 million Recreation & entertainment – $163.2 million Transportation – $130.2 million These figures helped place Brown County among the top five tourism destinations in the state.
