Shura Secretariat earns ISO Certifications for IT and security sectors

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh announced that the Secretariat-General has obtained two international ISO certifications—ISO 27001:2022 for Information Security Management and ISO 20000-1:2018 for IT Service Management — after successfully meeting all required audit standards.
These certifications support digital and technological advancements that enhance legislative work and confirm the effectiveness of strategies pursued in this field.
Operations
The Chairman noted that this achievement builds on previous steps taken to modernise operations within the Secretariat-General.
Under the supervision of Secretary-General Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, these efforts have included improvements to software, systems, and procedures.
The certifications serve as international recognition of the Council's adherence to established global standards.
He commended the Secretariat-General's staff for their dedication and teamwork, which have contributed to the successful completion of key projects in digital transformation, information security, and the development of electronic services that meet international benchmarks.
The ISO 27001 certification is a globally recognised standard for strengthening governance and managing risks in information security.
Meanwhile, ISO 20000-1 is among the leading international standards for ensuring quality and reliability in IT service management.

'Safeguarding workers' rights and promoting decent jobs are not just values, they are engines of development,' H.E. the minister said, reflecting on the conference theme, 'Forging the Link Between Jobs, Rights, and Economic Growth.' Integrated reforms H.E. the minister outlined a series of reforms and legal initiatives underway in Bahrain to protect trade union freedoms, support social dialogue, and strengthen workplace safety. The Minister drew attention to Bahrain's Tier 1 status in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year, calling it an international recognition of the Kingdom's effective and proactive efforts to combat exploitation. His Excellency Khalaf also noted the complete absence of child labour in the Kingdom, the country's anti-discrimination protections, and the rollout of updated occupational health and safety standards. Youth and women H.E. Also stressed that Bahrain's labour vision also prioritises inclusion, with programmes aimed at increasing youth participation in the labour market and promoting the advancement of women in the workforce. Khalaf praised the report by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo and echoed its call to see workers' rights as integral to economic resilience.

Cash, celebration and a grand prize
TDT | Manama Al Baraka Islamic Bank marked Eid Al Adha with a celebration of loyalty and good fortune, awarding its June Grand Prize worth USD 120,000 and naming 50 additional winners of Eid cash rewards under its Al Barakat Investment Account programme. The headline prize, structured as a monthly salary of USD 10,000 for one full year, went to Mr. Sayed Hadi Mohsen Alawi. His name was drawn in a public raffle held at the bank's Bahrain Bay headquarters, where customers, auditors, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce were present. Branch visitors also took part in the process by helping randomly select winners. Banking with rewards Alongside the main winner, 50 Al Barakat customers received Eid Al Adha cash prizes of USD 500 each. The festive timing and scale of the draw underscored the Bank's message of inclusivity, customer appreciation, and community celebration. Chief Retail Officer Mazin Dhaif noted that the Al Barakat Account continues to turn clients' savings into opportunities. The Al Barakat Investment Account is available via the Bank's mobile app with a minimum deposit of BD 50 or USD 135. Accounts can also be opened for minors through a legal guardian.
