Michael Bolton Breaks Silence on Aggressive Brain Cancer

Yahoo30-04-2025

Singer and songwriter Michael Bolton, the distinct voice behind smash hit songs like Time, Love and Tenderness and How Am I Supposed To Live Without You? underwent emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor back in Dec. 2023.
Amazingly, Bolton, who was 70-years-old at the time, experienced a remarkable recovery, as described by his daughter Holly.
"He was in recovery in the hospital room singing within minutes," his daughter explained in an exclusive with People. "I remember one of the nurses had no idea who he was, and she's like, 'Do you know he sings like this?'"
But the iconic singer, who sold more than 75 million records over the course of his highly-decorated, 50-year career in music, has since been facing a daunting battle with glioblastoma, the most aggressive and most common type of brain cancer in adults.
The initial diagnosis of glioblastoma came following the aforementioned emergency surgery in 2023 and, a little over year later in Jan. 2024, the 72-year-old Bolton had to undergo a second brain surgery due to an infection.
Despite the circumstances and the known aggressive nature of glioblastoma, the resilient Bolton seems to have maintained a truly positive outlook:
"Whenever you find yourself in any kind of challenging position, just to know that you're not alone going through it is a big deal," said Bolton. "It actually helps people to know. It reminds them that they're not alone."
According to the report by People, Bolton has purposely not been given a prognosis, instead taking the path of positivity, "choosing to remain hopeful."
It also certainly sounds like his perspective has changed given the severity of what he's been through in a relatively short timeframe, with a significant focus on his three daughters—Holly, Isa, and Taryn.
"How do I give things that they [his daughters] can take forward? Life lessons, love, any kind of validation that I can give — I want to be on the right side of that so they feel great about who they are," Bolton explained.
"It's a reality of mortality. Suddenly a new light has gone on that raises questions, including 'Am I doing the best that I can do with my time?' I want to keep going. I feel there's still a lot to do on the fight side."
Bolton finished that thought in what felt like signature fashion for the beloved singer, saying, "I got a title for a song: 'Ain't Going Down Without a Fight.'"
Throughout all of this, Bolton still makes time to practice meditation daily and somehow still reportedly "golfs as much as he can," in addition to working with a personal trainer and taking voice lessons which, again, is all just pretty remarkable for someone who finished radiation and chemotherapy treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer in October.
With the uplifting news that his latest MRI scan in April was clear, Bolton shared some inspiring words regarding his notably fearless approach as he continues to push forward, along with his general outlook in facing this ongoing battle.
"You're reaching into your resources and your resolve in a way that you never would have thought," the two-time Grammy winner said. "Succumbing to the challenge is not an option. You're really quickly drawn into a duel. I guess that's the way you find out what you're made of."

Fans React to Judge Dismissing Justin Baldoni's $400 Million Lawsuit Against Blake Lively

Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds has been tossed out by a judge — and fans aren't holding back their opinions. On Monday, June 9, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed the defamation and extortion countersuit filed by Baldoni, 41, and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, against Lively, 37, her husband Ryan Reynolds, 48, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane. The judge also threw out a separate $250 million claim against The New York Times. The court of public opinion is divided as fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on this new ruling. Some people were happy for the Gossip Girl alum and felt she was finally vindicated. 'If Baldoni's case had credibility, the judge wouldn't have tossed it out,' one fan wrote. 'That's a big win for blake,' a second commented. Another declared, 'Seemed pretty thin from the beginning. Glad it was thrown out.' However, many came to the Jane the Virgin actor's defense. 'It doesn't matter…the world sees blake and Ryan for who they are and they are not supported,' one person wrote. 'This is a technicality….Justin will still have support of the people when this is over. #staystrongjustin.' 'Who says money can't buy you everything,' a second commented. 'Justin Baldoni's countersuit being dismissed DOES NOT mean Blake Lively is telling the truth,' a third fan noted. 'It just shows sexual assault claims—YET TO BE PROVEN—are generally protected.' In his filing, obtained by People, Judge Liman explained, 'The Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Lively is responsible for any statements other than the statements in her CRD complaint, which are privileged.' 'The Wayfarer Parties have alleged that Reynolds and Sloane made additional statements accusing Baldoni of sexual misconduct and that the 'Times' made additional statements accusing the Wayfarer Parties of engaging in a smear campaign,' he continued. 'But the Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Reynolds, Sloane or the Times would have seriously doubted these statements were true based on the information available to them, as is required for them to be liable for defamation under applicable law.' According to People, Lively's legal team said that the ruling was a 'total victory and a complete vindication' for the actress. While Baldoni's lawyers have yet to make a public statement, they have until Monday, June 23, to file an amendment. The legal drama between the two stars began in December 2024, when Lively filed a lawsuit alleging that Baldoni sexually harassed her on the set of their film It Ends With Us. Baldoni, who also directed the film, denied the allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit in January 2025.

Man Joins Wife's Pilates Class to Prove It's 'Easy.' He Gets Humbled When He Walks Out on Shaky Legs (Exclusive)

Zach Webber filmed a skit joining his wife Liz's pilates class — but the pain was real. The viral TikTok shows Zach getting hilariously humbled while Liz skips out refreshed. He now has a whole new respect for Liz's workouts — and maybe pilates, Webber thought he was in for a relaxing workout when he joined his wife, Liz, for pilates — what he got was a viral humbling and a whole new level of respect. The viral TikTok video they posted — captioned 'It's 6:00 AM, time to prove to my wife that pilates is easy' — shows Zach walking confidently into class, and limping out with a new outlook. On the other hand, Liz skips out of the studio, declaring, 'Such a relaxing class,' while Zach stares at her in disbelief. 'Liz had been telling me about her pilates class for months, and she kind of found a passion in it,' Zach shares exclusively with PEOPLE. 'She'd been asking me to come join her. So I was like, okay, let's do it.' While the video was filmed like a comedy sketch, the reactions were the real deal. 'I did think it was going to be easier than it was,' Zach admits. 'It was surprising. It's not easy.' Even though the couple filmed the skit after class to be respectful of the other participants, the sweat and grimaces weren't just for show. 'Holding a lunge in a single position for over a minute or doing some of the stuff with the bands that I'd never done… Those were very real reactions,' Zach says. Liz could barely keep a straight face watching her husband struggle. 'I kept looking over at him being like, well, I told you,' she laughs. 'It's hard for me too… I just started in November. My core and everything has been tough getting it back. So looking over, I'm like, see, it's not just me.' Zach's biggest surprise came from the reformer machine itself. 'We did the reformer pilates, which was a big machine, and that stuff was complicated,' he says. 'Doing stuff on that machine with moving parts and cables and the ropes and all that… It was a totally new experience.' He adds, 'There was a learning curve there for sure. I was definitely slamming the carriage and all of the beginner things that are typical.' And while he's done everything from yoga to weightlifting and running, Zach says nothing really prepared him for this. 'It definitely works different muscles in a different way,' he says. 'It's refreshing and different.' Liz has been consistent with her pilates practice since their second child was born. 'I just had our second, who's now eight months old. That's when I started… and it feels so good after. I'm obsessed.' For Zach, the experience was more than a workout — it was a relationship check-in and has given him a new perspective on his wife's strength. 'Since having our second baby, she's really taken her fitness seriously… and knowing how difficult it is, she's extremely impressive,' he shares. Having Zach join Liz's class — grippy socks and all — meant a lot to the mom of two. 'We're both busy, so it meant a lot that he came out and did it with me,' she says. 'I also feel like whenever I come home from class, I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, we did this.' And he's like, 'Oh yeah,' like he gets it now.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The two have been together 16 years, married for eight, and prioritize trying new things together. 'We try to do new things like this together when we can get time for each other, even if it's something as simple as going to a workout class and getting coffee after,' Zach says. 'That kind of stuff's really important to us.' Zach hasn't ruled out joining Liz again — even if it's not a regular thing. 'If it weren't as far away as it is, because it is like a 20, 30 minute drive, I would probably be doing it more with her,' he said. 'It's a cool way to mix things up if you're stuck in a workout rut.' And for any guys still doubting pilates, Zach has one message: 'Go try it with no pre-judgment and just see if you like it.' Liz agrees. 'It's not just for the girls, too. I feel like incorporating that even once a week, a couple of times a month, is just so good… it does so many different things for you than your typical workouts.' But if you think you're just in for a spa day, beware. 'When I walked in, I was like, this is going to be even easier than I thought it was going to be,' Zach says. 'It felt so calm and peaceful… and then you start sweating like crazy and your abs are shaking and you're like, oh wait, this isn't serene.' Read the original article on People

Dakota Johnson Shocks 'Today' Show by Dropping Curse Word to Reveal Dating 'Non-Negotiable' After Chris Martin Split

After her split from Chris Martin, Dakota Johnson opened up about her "non-negotiable" when it comes to dating Multiple sources confirmed earlier this month that Johnson and Martin ended their engagement and their eight-year relationship Johnson plays a matchmaker in her new romance film, Materialists, out June 13Dakota Johnson knows what she's looking for in a romantic partner. The 35-year-old actress, who recently split from fiancé Chris Martin, is starring in the new romance Materialists alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. In the film, she plays a matchmaker, who gets caught in her own love triangle. On Monday, June 9, Johnson and Evans appeared on the Today show where co-anchor Craig Melvin asked them, 'If either of you were to engage with a real-life matchmaker, what would be the one non-negotiable for you?' While Evans, who is married to wife Alba Baptista, replied, 'Must love dogs. Gotta love dogs. If you're not a dog person, what are we doing?' Johnson had an arguably more blunt response. 'Like, not an a--h---?' she said as Melvin gasped slightly. 'That's concise,' Evans teased his costar. 'There it is. Nail on the head.' Melvin joked that NBC would have to 'clean that up for the West Code feed,' as Savannah Guthrie later noted it was proof the show didn't have a seven-second delay. Johnson laughed off the moment, not commenting on it further. Her candid thoughts come days after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had ended their eight-year relationship. "It feels final this time," a source said of the split. The couple were first romantically linked in 2017, and in 2024 an insider told PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had actually been engaged for 'years.' While the pair have split, things between the two seem to be cordial. The Coldplay singer promoted Johnson's new film during his June 6 concert in Las Vegas. 'Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!' Martin said into the mic, before adding, 'Don't forget to go see Materialists!' Additionally, Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow intends to keep up her 'close friendship' with Johnson. The Goop founder 'fully intends on maintaining that bond,' despite Johnson's split from the Coldplay singer, a source tells PEOPLE. Read the original article on People
