Michael Bolton Breaks Silence on Aggressive Brain Cancer
Singer and songwriter Michael Bolton, the distinct voice behind smash hit songs like Time, Love and Tenderness and How Am I Supposed To Live Without You? underwent emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor back in Dec. 2023.
Amazingly, Bolton, who was 70-years-old at the time, experienced a remarkable recovery, as described by his daughter Holly.
"He was in recovery in the hospital room singing within minutes," his daughter explained in an exclusive with People. "I remember one of the nurses had no idea who he was, and she's like, 'Do you know he sings like this?'"
But the iconic singer, who sold more than 75 million records over the course of his highly-decorated, 50-year career in music, has since been facing a daunting battle with glioblastoma, the most aggressive and most common type of brain cancer in adults.
The initial diagnosis of glioblastoma came following the aforementioned emergency surgery in 2023 and, a little over year later in Jan. 2024, the 72-year-old Bolton had to undergo a second brain surgery due to an infection.
Despite the circumstances and the known aggressive nature of glioblastoma, the resilient Bolton seems to have maintained a truly positive outlook:
"Whenever you find yourself in any kind of challenging position, just to know that you're not alone going through it is a big deal," said Bolton. "It actually helps people to know. It reminds them that they're not alone."
According to the report by People, Bolton has purposely not been given a prognosis, instead taking the path of positivity, "choosing to remain hopeful."
It also certainly sounds like his perspective has changed given the severity of what he's been through in a relatively short timeframe, with a significant focus on his three daughters—Holly, Isa, and Taryn.
"How do I give things that they [his daughters] can take forward? Life lessons, love, any kind of validation that I can give — I want to be on the right side of that so they feel great about who they are," Bolton explained.
"It's a reality of mortality. Suddenly a new light has gone on that raises questions, including 'Am I doing the best that I can do with my time?' I want to keep going. I feel there's still a lot to do on the fight side."
Bolton finished that thought in what felt like signature fashion for the beloved singer, saying, "I got a title for a song: 'Ain't Going Down Without a Fight.'"
Throughout all of this, Bolton still makes time to practice meditation daily and somehow still reportedly "golfs as much as he can," in addition to working with a personal trainer and taking voice lessons which, again, is all just pretty remarkable for someone who finished radiation and chemotherapy treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer in October.
With the uplifting news that his latest MRI scan in April was clear, Bolton shared some inspiring words regarding his notably fearless approach as he continues to push forward, along with his general outlook in facing this ongoing battle.
"You're reaching into your resources and your resolve in a way that you never would have thought," the two-time Grammy winner said. "Succumbing to the challenge is not an option. You're really quickly drawn into a duel. I guess that's the way you find out what you're made of."

Clay Aiken says he'll need to be sedated as son trains to be a pilot
Singer Clay Aiken's son, whom he shares with longtime friend Jaymes Foster, is now 16 years old. And he's already working toward a major life goal. While talking with People, Aiken revealed that his son Parker Aiken is training to become a pilot. 'He's known what he wants to do for, gosh, his whole life,' the former American Idol contestant revealed to People. 'It was a little weird to me because I didn't know what I wanted to do — I still don't.' According to the proud, albeit nervous, father, Aiken said Parker has never once 'changed his mind' when it comes to fulfilling his dreams of being a pilot, sharing that the teenager has 'just went and did his first solo flight two weeks ago, so a big milestone there.' 'Now we're planning on the next one, which I'll need even more Xanax for,' Aiken admitted to People, noting that flight will consist of flying across the state on his own. 'I'm not going to be able to see the plane,' Aiken explained, saying he has yet to join Parker on one of his flights, although his mom Jaymes Foster has. 'You're gonna have to sedate me. Just call an anesthesiologist because I don't have the nerves for that,' despite the rave reviews Parker has received from his instructors. 'His instructors all have said he's better than the adults that they've taught, but like I said, he's been focused on it for years, and that's what he wants to do,' Aiken told People. 'I'm not worried about his skill level. I'm worried about the plane. I told him, 'When you are flying in a big plane, we can talk, but I don't do those JFK Jr. planes.'' 'He knows what he's doing,' Aiken conceded, per People. 'His idol is [pilot] Sully Sullenberger,' who famously landed a commercial plane in the Hudson River after a bird strike disabled both engines, 'and he wants to be as good as him. And that's what he puts his energy into, and I think he is.' Aiken appeared on the second season of Fox's 'American Idol' TV show, according to his website. He finished second place on the show in 2003, TV Insider reported.

1 of 3 | Giada De Laurentiis arrives on the red carpet for the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2019. She will host an upcoming Prime Video special. File Photo by Chris Chew/UPI | License Photo June 10 (UPI) -- Giada De Laurentiis will help gift a family the kitchen of their dreams in her Prime Video special Giada in My Kitchen, due June 23. In a trailer released Tuesday, De Laurentiis, 54, discusses her upcoming show near a fireplace. "I think I know a thing or two about setting up a great kitchen," the celebrity chef and former Food Network star said. "So many cooks are stuck with a kitchen that isn't working for them." That will change by the end of the special -- De Laurentiis will partner with Erik Garcia to renovate the space. "A great kitchen should feel like a dance -- everything in its place, just where you need it," she told People. "...I always prioritize flow and function first, then layer in beauty through natural materials like marble, wood and stone to bring warmth, texture and personality into the space." Giada left Food Network in 2023 after more than two decades, hosting such shows as Everyday Italian, Giada at Home and Giada's Weekend Getaways.

Queen Camilla "Stays Out of" Prince Harry and King Charles' Feud After Being Called "Dangerous"
Queen Camilla is (obviously) well aware that King Charles and his son Prince Harry are years-deep into a feud that literally will not end. But apparently she "stays out of it" the drama—at least according to a source who spoke to People—despite being name-checked and described as "dangerous" in Harry's book, Spare. Camilla hasn't spent time with Prince Harry in years, though Harry talked about his step-mother candidly in 2023, telling Good Morning America "We haven't spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences. So when I see her, we're perfectly pleasant with each other. She's my stepmother. I don't look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake." In other news, Kate Middleton has also pivoted from trying to fix the family drama to wanting zero to do with it. Royal expert and broadcaster Helena Chard recently told Fox News that Kate doesn't want to be "dragged into the public negative narrative" and is in "protection mode" when it comes to her kids. She's also allegedly worried about Prince Harry being a "burden" on Prince William's eventual reign as king. Meanwhile, expert Hilary Fordwich says there's a "huge sense of betrayal and broader frustration, as well as a massive cultural clash" between former friends Kate and Harry, and that Kate's "thrown her hands up in disgust, stepping back from any role of attempting to mediate a reconciliation since the rift between the brothers kept widening."
