Police said the incident occurred on 9 July 2025, when the pastor allegedly called the girl to the church.

Mother of man slain for opening wrong car door calls killer's plea deal a ‘slap in the face'
The man who shot and killed a father-to-be who opened up the wrong car door at a gas station signed a plea deal this week. The Fulton County District Attorney's Office offered Dericole Daniel a 25-year sentence, in which he will spend a fraction of that in jail. 'That was a slap in the face to us,' said Tibitha Dunnaville. 'Like my son was not worthy of this world, and I am not happy.' Her son, Trayvon Dunnaville, 26, died Dec. 12, 2022. He and his pregnant fiancée stopped at a Shell gas station on Old National Highway near Jonesboro Rd. after he finished work. He went inside the store to buy something. She waited in the car. When he came back outside, he accidentally walked up to a car similar to his fiancée's at a nearby gas pump and opened the door. That's when the driver of that car, Daniel, shot him four times. 'I'm quite sure there's plenty of people that done walked to the wrong car, but they didn't get shot and killed,' said Dunnaville. RELATED STORIES: Mother wants justice for son killed opening wrong door at South Fulton gas station A man got in the wrong car outside a metro Atlanta gas station, now he's dead Daniel's defense attorney, Jasmine Blake-Stewart, sent Channel 2 a statement that said in part, 'Mr. Daniel reasonably believed he was about to get robbed, and was in fear of his life, so he discharged his firearm that he was legally in possession of.' Daniel's attorney said a Grand Jury initially charged him with Felony Murder, a charge that carries a life sentence. So, when prosecutors offered him a deal to plead guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter, he took it. As part of the 25-year sentence, he will spend five years in jail and 20 years on probation. The judge said he can cut the probation short for good behavior. 'Then, the judge ask him when do he want to turn himself in. I never heard that a day in my life,' Dunnaville said. The plea deal allows Daniel to self-report to Fulton County Jail by Sept. 2. Former prosecutors said that is an unusual condition in deadly criminal cases like these. Nearly 10 years later, Midlothian still seeks justice for Missy Bevers, fitness instructor murdered at church
Nearly a decade ago, Missy Bevers' life was taken. The person responsible has never been caught, but that hasn't stopped the community from pushing for answers. Ahead of what would have been her 55th birthday, the pursuit for justice continues. "She was a good person," Renae Rodden said. "She was humble. She was dedicated to teaching people fitness and healthy eating habits to make a difference." Rodden met Bevers in 2015 when they were both working for a clothing company. "She was one of the people who had the inventory, and so I went to her house every week for an entire year," she said. The friendship grew quickly, but a year later, the unthinkable occurred. Surveillance video captured Bevers preparing to host an early morning boot camp class at Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian when someone dressed in tactical gear entered the building. "She's not aware that they're there," Rodden said. "She met with them and within minutes, she's brutally murdered." The circumstances surrounding Bevers' death have remained a mystery. This Saturday, she would have turned 55. To honor her life, a community tip drive was held at Kimmel Park. Organizers have put up signs in the neighborhood and say the event is about keeping Bevers' story alive and maintaining pressure on the case. "It's very frustrating to know that it hasn't been solved," Rodden said. Midlothian police say new leads are continuing to come in, both locally and from out of town. They say the tips "look promising," but cannot go into further detail.

Two Pennsylvania State Police officers shot during 911 call response
STORY: :: Two Pennsylvania state troopers were shot during a 911 response, police say :: August 7, 2025 :: New Milford, Pennsylvania :: Christopher L. Paris, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner "The troopers made it out of their vehicle, and they were ambushed from a very good distance away. I don't want to quantify that, pending further investigation, but they were ambushed by several rounds of rifle fire from a position of tactical superiority. Trooper (Joseph) Perechinsky was shot twice in the chest/torso area. Trooper (William) Jenkins was shot twice as well, once in each arm." "Carmine Faino, F A I N O, repeating F A I N O. 61 years of age. Faino is the resident at 20034, so technically he would be a neighbor of Wasko and her live-in longtime boyfriend. However, their properties are separated by several hundred yards. He, we believe at this point, murdered Laurie Wasko, and he was the shooter who shot both of our two troopers, as well as who shot at Carl Lawson." State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris said during a news conference that both troopers and an EMT who crashed when taking evasive action from the shooting were in stable condition. The suspect, identified as Carmine Faino, was shot and killed. Commissioner Paris said Faino killed his neighbor Laurie Wasko, prompting an emergency call from her boyfriend. Previously, Governor Josh Shapiro said he was aware of the shooting and had communicated with State Police Commissioner Paris. The troopers were identified as Joseph Perechinsky and Trooper William Jenkins.
