Stay stress-free with yoga, Collector tells staff
Collector Lakshmisha, joined by NGO and IFTUC leaders and other employees, actively participated in performing yoga asanas at the event held near Sarada College on BRTS Road. Speaking afterward, he expressed his delight at organising a yoga programme for government employees on the fifth day of the month-long celebrations and the second day of the 'Yoga' theme.
Lakshmisha said that under the guidance of the Chief Minister, 'Yoga Andhra' programmes are being implemented across the district with the aim of teaching yoga to approximately 1.5 million people, and he called upon employees to be key participants in making these initiatives a success.
A Vidyasagar, State General Secretary of the AP NGO Association, remarked that yoga and meditation are India's rich heritage, now embraced by numerous countries worldwide. He called upon everyone to contribute to passing on this rich heritage to future generations.
He announced an immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 for yoga trainer B Sireesha, who has been training underprivileged students in artistic yoga and bringing recognition to the practice, to enable her to continue such initiatives.

Social nedia fuels snail meat craze, prices skyrocket in AP
Vijayawada: What was once a humble seasonal delicacy has now become a booming business. Snail meat, traditionally collected near canals during the rains, is now in high demand after social media campaigns promoted it as a cure for ailments like asthma, breathing troubles, and back pain. The sudden craze has sent prices skyrocketing from Rs 240 per kg earlier to nearly Rs 550 per kg. In Krishna district, especially along the Vijayawada–Gudivada and Vijayawada–Avanigadda roads, small roadside stalls have mushroomed. Sellers catch snails near canals, clean them, and sell the meat fresh to eager buyers. Long queues of customers can be seen every afternoon, many of them traveling from Vijayawada and nearby towns. B Suri Babu, a seller from Thotlavalluru, said, "I never imagined snail meat would get this popular. Earlier, only a few locals bought it during the rainy season. Now people from towns and cities come in large numbers every day, and we are struggling to meet the demand." One customer, Srinivas Rao, who traveled 24 km from Gudivada to buy the meat, said, "I came all the way because it's difficult to find snail meat in my town. I heard it gives good energy and helps with back pain. Even though it is expensive, I don't mind buying it for my family." Medical experts, however, are urging caution against exaggerated claims. Dr. Vattipalli Bhagyaraj explained that while snail meat is rich in protein, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, it does not provide miraculous cures. "It is highly nutritious and boosts immunity, but it will not instantly reduce back pain or cure asthma. People should see it as healthy food, not a magic medicine," he said. Despite the warnings, snail meat continues to sell rapidly in Krishna district, proving that the fusion of tradition, social media buzz, and health awareness can create unexpected market trends. 26L availed for treatmentby one RGHS cardholder,finds health dept probe
Jaipur: A probe into fraud while implementing the Rajasthan Govt Health Scheme (RGHS) has revealed that treatment costing Rs 26 lakh was provided to one person using a single beneficiary card. Following the inquiry, conducted by the health department, an FIR has been filed in Alwar where the incident occurred against the Rajasthan Pensioners Association Medical Store, Mittal Hospital, a doctor, and the cardholder. The FIR lists six accused in the case. The health department has also suspended nine employees, including five doctors. The department probe allegedly found collusion between the beneficiary, doctors, and the pharmacy store in creating fake OPD slips and buying material other than the prescribed medicines from the pharmacy store. Using the health card, benefits worth approximately Rs 26 lakh were availed in a year through fake OPD treatment and prescriptions. In other alleged fraud cases under the scheme, two ayurvedic and three allopathic doctors, along with four employees, were suspended by the health department. Principal secretary (health) Gayatri Rathore said complaints about irregularities by various stakeholders in RGHS had been surfacing for some time. A thorough investigation led to the suspension of nine employees, including five doctors, of which two are ayurvedic practitioners. Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency CEO Harji Lal Atal said employees were suspended in response to irregularities in RGHS. Ayurvedic doctors Kavita Dhankar and Pawan Jangid from Govt Ayurvedic DB General Hospital in Churu, and Manisha from CHC Bibrani in Khairthal-Tijara, are among those against whom action has been initiated.
