These Key Upgrades Will Be Packed Into The Pixel 10 Pro Fold
August will see the next 'Made By Google' event, where the Mountain View-based company is expected to launch the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The latter—as Google's only foldable device—is in a unique place to promote innovation in the market and for Google to offer its viewpoint on what a good Android foldable should be.
Ahead of that launch, more details on 2025's foldable Pixel are becoming clear. The latest notes come via Android Headlines. The core specs of 16 GB of RAM and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage have been heavily trailed and are as expected. The camera specs include a 48-megapixel primary lens, a 10.6-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel x5 telephoto lens, which all make up the rear camera assembly.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold Chipset
The first is the Tensor G5 chipset. While not specifically visible to consumers, Google's switch of the fabrication from Samsung to TSMC will be poured over with benchmarking comparisons, real-world testing, and comparisons not just to what came before but to the current Samsung Exynos, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek Dimensity options.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold Battery
What will be noticeable to consumers is the impact of the increased battery capacity of the foldable Pixel. This year's Fold will step up from the 9 Pro Fold's 4,650 mAh to 5,015 mAh. Some of that will no doubt offset the brighter cover screen (with a potential ten percent increase in brightness to 3,000 nits), yet the efficiency improvements of the G5 should balance that out, leaving the extra capacity for increased endurance.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold IP Rating
Then you have the protection rating. Last year, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold shipped with IPX8 protection—water-resistant but not waterproof, with no protection against dust.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be upgraded to IP68. This is relatively standard across premium handsets, but it's only now showing up on foldables. IP68 offers the same water resistance while adding protection from dust and other small particles.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold Competition
Google's foldable Pixel is not launching into an empty space. The two key points of comparison will be the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold7 from Samsung and the Magic V from Honor. The former is focusing on the general consumer audience as Samsung's marketing leans into the benefits of AI, while Honor positions the latter as a more fashionable and cutting-edge design due to its slim nature.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold fits into the space as a reference design, both in terms of hardware and software. While the Pixel range has leaned more into consumer retail over the last few models, Pixels are still seen as clean implementations of Google's Android vision.
As foldables move away from the luxury space and become more prevalent in the real world, their role becomes increasingly important, as Google aims to set the tone for a space that has been under development for more than a decade.

Bright spots emerge in corporate earnings as tariff uncertainty lingers
(Reuters) -Some of the world's top tech firms, including U.S. search giant Alphabet, South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix and Indian IT services provider Infosys, have provided upbeat guidance in their latest earnings reports, shrugging off an uncertain U.S. trade policy. Corporate operations have been overshadowed by erratic U.S. trade action that has upended supply chains and left firms to navigate fluid tariffs on top of broader economic uncertainties such as regulatory change and currency fluctuation. But tech titans Alphabet, SK Hynix and Infosys - which all reported earnings that beat market forecasts - predicted brighter days to come, with Alphabet and SK Hynix both flagging plans to boost spending. Nvidia supplier SK Hynix booked record quarterly profit, boosted by strong demand for artificial intelligence chips and customers stockpiling ahead of potential U.S. tariffs. Indian IT services provider Infosys raised the floor of its annual revenue forecast range to 1% to 3%, from flat to 3%, matching analyst expectations. Among the major earnings on Thursday, Nestle, Reckitt, Roche and Wizz report before local markets open. TURBULENCE The upbeat guidance amounted to a bright spot in a turbulent second-quarter earnings season that has so far seen businesses as varied as chipmakers and steelmakers report downbeat results. Companies have reported over July 16-22 a combined full-year loss of as much as $7.8 billion, with the automotive, aerospace and pharmaceutical sectors being hurt most by tariffs. General Motors said tariffs knocked $1.1 billion from second-quarter earnings. On Wednesday, Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said U.S. government cuts in support for electric vehicle makers could lead to a "few rough quarters", as his firm reported its worst quarterly sales decline in over a decade. TRADE DEALS News that the U.S. had struck a deal with Japan to lower new tariffs on auto imports and spare it punishing levies on other goods lifted Asian and European stock markets on Wednesday. It stirred hope for a similar deal with the European Union ahead of August 1, when the U.S. said new tariffs will go into effect. The European Union is moving toward a trade deal that could include a 15% U.S. baseline tariff on EU goods and possible exemptions, two European diplomats said. One surprise on Thursday was South Korea's finance ministry saying tariff negotiations had been postponed due to a scheduling conflict for U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The announcement cast fresh doubt about whether South Korea would be able to avert U.S. import duties that could hit some of its major exporting industries. All eyes are on Washington as governments scramble to close trade deals ahead of next week's deadline that the White House has already pushed back under pressure from markets and intense lobbying by industry. While the Japan deal has eased investor worry, the threat of higher tariffs on other large economies remains, including the European Union, Canada and Brazil. An EU-China summit on Thursday will test European resolve and unity as the bloc faces trade pressure from both China as well as the United States, while U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent meets Chinese officials in Sweden next week.

Alphabet Stock (GOOGL) Drops after Threatened U.K. Crackdown on Mobile Domination
Shares in U.S. tech giant Alphabet (GOOGL) were lower today because of fears of a U.K. clampdown on its mobile platforms. U.K. regulator the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said today that it planned to designate Alphabet's Google and Apple (AAPL) with strategic market status for their role in mobile ecosystems. Competition Concerns This means that the CMA, which opened the investigation in January, can take actions against a firm to change or stop specific behaviors or practices in order to address competition concerns. Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome dominate the mobile browser market on iPhones and Android devices, respectively. In the U.K. the CMA said Apple and Google's mobile platforms hold an effective duopoly, with around 90 – 100% of U.K. mobile devices running on their mobile platforms. As such, Europe is a key market for Google. The CMA said this led to issues such as inconsistent app store search rankings favoring apps owned by the firms, and choice architecture, like default settings, pre-installation, prominence, prompts, and friction, which may favor the firms' own services, limiting competition and genuine choice for users. It also highlighted the up to 30% commission charged by the firms on some in-app purchases and restrictions on developers telling customers about cheaper ways to pay or to subscribe outside of the app. 'Apple and Google's mobile platforms are both critical to the U.K. economy … but our investigation so far has identified opportunities for more innovation and choice,' CMA head Sarah Cardell said in a statement. 'The targeted and proportionate actions we have set out today would enable UK app developers to remain at the forefront of global innovation while ensuring U.K. consumers receive a world-class experience.' Changes Needed The CMA said that it wants Apple to review apps for distribution in a 'fair, objective and transparent manner.' This could include remedies such as Apple explaining delays or rejections and creating an avenue for businesses to raise concerns about the process. Apple could also be made to publish a methodology for how it ranks apps in the App Store. The CMA has laid out similar remedies for Google. Google called the move 'disappointing and unwarranted.' 'It is crucial that any new regulation is evidence-based, proportionate and does not become a roadblock to growth in the U.K.,' Google's senior director for competition, Oliver Bethell, said. Apple said it was concerned that the new rules being considered would undermine the privacy and security protections expected by its users. This is another example of enhanced regulatory crackdown on U.S. tech in the U.K. and Europe. However, it has done little to stop the growth in either Apple's or Google's share price. Is GOOGL a Good Stock to Buy Now? On TipRanks, GOOGL has a Strong Buy consensus based on 30 Buy and 9 Hold ratings. Its highest price target is $250. GOOGL stock's consensus price target is $206.51, implying a 7.93% upside.

TSMC just hit a $1 trillion market cap. These 5 companies could be next
Last week, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE: TSM), also known as TSMC, crossed an important psychological threshold for investors. The Taiwanese company surpassed a $1 trillion market capitalization, making it the first Asian company to do so since China's PetroChina oil and gas giant briefly achieved this milestone in 2007, notes GuruFocus. Southwest Airlines' open seating is ending: Here's what the new 8-group boarding process will look like Here's exactly how much you'll save on your 2026 taxes, by income bracket: Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill benefits Stop being a martyr at work. Aim for sustainable success instead TSMC manufactures the most advanced computer chips in the world, which are essential for running the most complex AI tasks. The company makes chips for a variety of tech giants, including Nvidia and Apple. As of the time of this writing, TSMC has a market capitalization of approximately $1.2 trillion. The chipmaking giant has achieved this 12-figure valuation on the strength of its chip business in recent months, which has seen a surge in demand thanks to the artificial intelligence boom sweeping the world. But the question many people may be wondering now is who's next in line to join the $1 trillion club? Here's what the numbers say. Who is currently in the $1 trillion club? The list of companies valued at $1 trillion or more is pretty short. Currently, just 11 companies have a 12-figure valuation, according to data compiled by The companies with trillion-dollar market caps currently include: Nvidia ($4.1 trillion) Microsoft ($3.7 trillion) Apple ($3.1 trillion) Amazon ($2.4 trillion) Alphabet/Google ($2.3 trillion) Meta Platforms ($1.7 trillion) Saudi Aramco ($1.6 trillion) Broadcom ($1.3 trillion) TSMC ($1.2 trillion) Tesla ($1 trillion) Berkshire Hathaway ($1 trillion) While TSMC is the newest member of this esteemed list, the company that tops the chart, Nvidia, is the most notable. Not only is it the most valuable company in the world, but it is also the only company to have ever reached a $4 trillion market capitalization, which it achieved earlier this month. What companies are closest to joining the trillion-dollar club? As it's fairly hard to predict how the stock market—and individual stocks—will perform in the future, it's also nearly impossible to say with any certainty which company may be the next one to cross the trillion-dollar threshold. The companies that are the closest now could have calamity strike next week, and see their stock prices plunge as a result, taking them further from the 12-figure mark. Alternatively, a company that is worth only a few hundred billion now could strike metaphorical business gold next week, and see its share price surge catapulting it to the trillion-dollar club out of nowhere. But given that a company's market cap is defined by adding up the value of a company's total shares, it's easy to see which companies are currently next closest in line to becoming a trillion-dollar giant. The following five companies that are closest based on their current stock prices are: JPMorgan Chase (Market Cap $800 billion) Walmart ($763 billion) Visa ($685 billion) Eli Lilly ($684 billion) Oracle ($684 billion) Banking giant JPMorgan Chase is the closest to a $1 trillion market cap. To reach it, it would only need to see its stock price rise by another 25% from current levels. Walmart would need to see its stock increase by about 31% from current levels. Visa, Eli Lilly, and Oracle would all need to see about a 46% jump in their stock prices to reach a $1 trillion market cap. As for some of America's other tech giants, many would need to see their stock prices nearly double or triple from today's levels to reach a $1 trillion valuation. These companies include: Netflix (current valuation: $524 billion), SAP (current valuation: $358 billion), and Palantir (current valuation: $358 billion). For now, it's unlikely that any of these companies will be hitting the $1 trillion threshold in the near future, which is precisely why TSMC joining the club is such a big deal. Even as the value of many of the world's largest companies continues to surge, crossing the 12-figure mark is still a relative rarity.
