Vestas Shares Jump as U.S. Tax Rules Ease Up

Vestas Wind Systems (VWDRY) got a big boost Monday after Washington finally laid out how clean energy tax credits will work and the news was nowhere near as harsh as investors had braced for. The U.S. has been a tricky market for Vestas ever since President Donald Trump's policies cooled momentum for renewables. Management said last week that clarity around Trump's tax bill had already helped unclog orders, and now the final guidance looks like the last major hurdle has been cleared. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with VWDRY. Analysts breathed a sigh of relief. Jefferies called the outcome close to the best possible compared with early talks. Citi said the rules turned out to be far more lenient than expected, while RBC noted the news was fairly positive against fears of tighter restrictions. For investors, this changes the picture. Instead of policy risk hanging over one of Vestas' biggest markets, the company now has a clearer runway for new orders and demand recovery. This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Can-Am's first electric ATV can haul more than its gas models

Can-Am, part of the motorsports group BRP that recently introduced electric snowmobiles, has just launched its first electric all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The Outlander Electric is designed to be "whisper quiet" for chores like herding or hunting, but it can actually tow more than its gas-powered counterparts thanks to the high level of torque. Powered by BRP's modular Rotax E-Power drivetrain (also used in the company's electric snowmobiles and motorbikes), the Outlander Electric makes up to 47 hp and 53 lb-ft of torque, the latter of which is substantially more than any of the company's ICE-powered ATVs. As a result, the electric model offers 1,830 pounds of towing capacity, the most of any ATV, according to the company. Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV (BRP Inc.) The 8.9 kWh battery offers about 50 miles (80 km) of range, around half of what a gasoline ATV will get depending on the model. It can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in around 50 minutes using a Level 2 charger. Other features include selectable ride modes (Normal, Sport and Work) depending on whether you're trail riding or towing items around your ranch, 12-inches of clearance and a two-speed transmission. However, the key benefit Can-Am is touting is the lack of noise due to the liquid-cooling system, optimized suspension and special tires. With that, the Outlander Electric is less likely to spook farm animals or wildlife, making it a good option for farmers, hunters and park rangers. The Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV is now available from deals and Can'Am's website starting at $12,999. If you buy something through a link in this article, we may earn commission.

Eletrobras partners with C3 AI to modernize Brazil's power grid

SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazilian power company Eletrobras has partnered with C3 AI to apply artificial intelligence to help operate the electric power transmission network in Latin America's largest economy, the two companies told Reuters on Monday. Eletrobras, Brazil's largest operator in the segment, will implement the C3 AI Grid Intelligence tool, which focuses on monitoring and resolving failures in real time, in all of its transmission assets. The value of the deal was not disclosed. The companies said in a joint statement that the use of artificial intelligence would increase the network's resilience and reliability at a large scale, by helping, for example, to correct failures more quickly. Eletrobras' investment in AI comes at a time when investments in electrical networks are gaining relevance worldwide, both as preparation for a more complex and dynamic operation of diversified electrical matrices, and as a security reinforcement in the face of extreme weather events. One of the main challenges faced by transmission companies in Brazil is fires near lines and substations. "We are modernizing critical network monitoring processes, which allows us to respond to incidents more effectively and agilely, ensuring system stability and availability," said Pablo Flores, Executive Manager of Protection, Automation and Control of Operating Systems at Eletrobras.
