Two dead after shooting in Northern Ireland

Two people have died and two are seriously injured after a shooting in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Police have cordoned off the scene in the village of Maguiresbridge, about 75 miles (120km) southwest of Belfast. "We can advise there is no ongoing risk to the public," a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesperson said. There was no mention of a motive behind the shooting. Emergency services were called to the shooting in the Drummeer Road area of the village at 8.21am on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said. They confirmed that two people have been injured. "Following assessment and initial treatment at scene, one patient has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, by air ambulance and another to South West Acute Hospital by ambulance," the spokesperson added. Drummeer Road is currently closed, police said, warning that this could lead to delays on alternative roads. Sinn Féin MP Pat Cullen has expressed her deep shock over the shooting, saying: "Firstly, my thoughts are with the victims and their families at this tragic time. "I am in contact with the police around this ongoing situation. Police are currently at the scene of an incident outside Maguiresbridge and there are a number of road closures while they carry out their investigations." The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP asked people "not to speculate on the details of this tragic and shocking incident". DUP MLA Deborah Erskine, who represents the area in the Northern Ireland Assembly, said that the community was "stunned" by the shooting in "a rural, quiet area." "Everyone is deeply affected by what has happened this morning," she said. Diana Armstrong, MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, called the shooting "heartbreaking and distressing". "The loss of life and the serious injuries reported have shocked the local community," she said in a statement on X. "My thoughts are with the families of those affected and with everyone in the community as they come to terms with this tragedy." Butland reborn under new boss Martin?

When Rangers came under siege in the first half against Panathinaikos, Jack Butland stood strong. The goalkeeper began the Russell Martin era in imposing fashion, keeping the Greeks at bay as Rangers roused themselves after the break to cleave out a 2-0 lead to take to Greece for next week's second leg of the Champions League qualifier. Having ended last season in the wilderness under interim boss Barry Ferguson after being displaced as first choice by Liam Kelly, has the arrival of Russell Martin revitalised Butland's Ibrox career? The early signs are promising. The former England number one made four saves - three of them diving stops - against Panathinaikos and was also aided by the post as Nemanja Maksimovic wasted a gilt-edged early chance. All Butland's saves came from shots inside the box, highlighting his sharp reflexes, as he kept a clean sheet in Martin's managerial bow despite the visitors registering an xG (expected goals) of 1.65. Martin praised the "outstanding" keeper's impact, saying: "We needed Jack a couple of times, big moments in the first half, he made a couple of brilliant saves," and vowed Rangers "will improve" in the second leg. Martin's imprint was clear in the first-leg victory with Rangers having 75% possession and making a total of 708 passes compared to Panathinaikos' 217. But the Greeks showed far greater threat in the opening half - and ended the game with a higher xG and more touches in the opposition box than Rangers - and there remains "lots to work on" as Martin himself put it.

Dog the Bounty Hunter's ‘heavily sedated' stepson placed on psych hold after killing his only child in ‘tragic accident'

Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Chapman's stepson Gregory Zecca has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after 'accidentally' shooting and killing his 13-year-old son, Anthony Zecca. Greg is being monitored because he is so devastated by the loss of his only son that there are concerns he may try taking his life, a rep for the family told TMZ Tuesday. The rep made sure to note that the psych hold has nothing to do with Greg feeling guilty of a crime. The outlet reported that Greg has not been able to speak to family members or cops yet because he is heavily sedated. Page Six has reached out for comment Greg fatally shot Anthony in their Naples, Fla., apartment on Saturday night. According to the police report, the teen had an entry wound on his neck, just above his sternum, and no exit wound. Law enforcement told TMZ that Anthony had lost a ton of blood by the time they arrived. They performed CPR and other life-saving measures, including chest compressions, but he was pronounced dead just over two hours later. The firearm used in the fatal shooting was on the kitchen island when deputies arrived, per the police report. While no arrests have been made, an investigation remains ongoing. Greg is the son of Dog's wife, Francie Frane, whom he married in September 2021. 'We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony,' they said in a statement. After news of the tragedy broke, social media users resurfaced photos of Greg and Anthony at a shooting range. 'Getting some range time in with our buddies @franktownfirearms,' Greg told his followers at the time. He and Anthony were all smiles as they posed with guns and practiced shooting them.
