Actor Zenzo Ngqobe on breaking into international films and staying relevant
It's a chilly afternoon when we catch up with him over the phone.
As he chats to us, we quickly pick up that although he's an award-winning star, he has a humble and cordial demeanour. He also reveals that his focus is on international features.
'I haven't been on a daily show for about a year now and I'm working on international feature films. I've been working on international projects such as the United Kingdom. That's where my passion lies now,' he says.
He made a name for himself when he played the role of Stone Khuze in e.TV's erstwhile show Rhythm City, and since then he's joined shows such as The River and The Queen.
He has also starred in feature films such as Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, Blood Diamond, and Partly Cloudy and Hot, a feature film he starred in won a gong in Canada.

'That project was close to my heart because it was produced by my favourite producer. I enjoy being in feature films,' he quips coyly.
Like most of his industry colleagues, being on a daily show means stability.
'For me, daily shows only make sense for a monthly paycheck, but I'm mostly interested in making movies,' he shares.
'I never wanted to stay long on a daily show, and also because of the hectic schedule that comes with being on a daily show.'
He concedes that when he joined a daily show, he was much younger, and one of the drawbacks of being on a daily show is that 'they don't allow you to be doing other things, so your freedom is limited.'
'Also, if you stay longer, for example, 20 years, you struggle to get a job in other shows, because they associate you with your previous role, it becomes difficult to break away from your role,' he explains.
On a sad note, he recently lost his friend and colleague, Presley Chweneyagae, with whom he worked on Tsotsi and The River, who died, and he delivered an emotional speech at his funeral.
'You know I'm strong, but you've made me weak, boy. Each role you played, you did with passion, and you taught me a lot about the craft,' he said.

At this point, both Marian and Ada appeared to have read between the lines, picking up on what Oscar wasn't saying. Ada explained it away to Agnes as Oscar 'mourning the loss of his savior, as we all would,' while Marian later visited Oscar in his room to — in so many words — show her compassion for his situation. But what if Oscar had finished that sentence? Would his mother, aunt and cousin have responded positively, or would it have been an 1880s-appropriate disaster? 'For Agnes, I don't mean that she would be unaware of it, but she would never respond to it,' series creator Julian Fellowes tells TVLine. 'She would respond as if such a thing could not be, whereas Ada, who was gentler and less of a fighter, is more aware of it. I think that we found a rather marvelous performance from Cynthia [Nixon], where it's quite clear that she knows what they're dealing with, but there's a limit of how far she's prepared to go.' As for Marian, 'a younger girl who is more liberal,' Fellowes notes that she would probably be 'more understanding,' as we saw when she comforted Oscar later. 'But no one would say to Oscar, 'Why don't you just take a house with him around the corner and go and live on 53rd Street and everything would be fine?' Because it wouldn't be fine. They can't compel him, or suggest even, that he should live his life as an outsider.' As a result, Oscar is 'stuck with a life which God knows thousands of men and women were stuck with' in those times, and even later, Fellowes says. 'They could live in the normal world along with everyone else, but essentially live a lie, or they could expose their lie and be an outsider for the rest of their lives. That was the choice they were offered, which was very hard. There were certain ways of thinking that people felt they couldn't escape. The nicer ones could be understanding and helpful, and I'm sure they did their best, but even that's not enough to make you go against the whole of your society.' It's tragic, of course, because we can't imagine two better people to come out to than Christine Baranski (Agnes) and Cynthia Nixon (Ada). Rather than focus on the limitations of the time period, however, Fellowes suggests that we use this as an opportunity to appreciate societal progress. 'I think it's worth considering and understanding that, yes, a hell of a lot of things have gotten worse [for the LGBTQ+ community], but some things have gotten better — and that's worth holding on to, I think.' Nothing drives wild animals away faster than hearing actors scream about divorce. Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver's 2019 film 'Marriage Story' is being used by the United States Department of Agriculture to keep wolves away from killing cattle, according to The Wall Street Journal. 'Riding to the rescue are drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal any wolf lurking in the darkness and bathe it in a spotlight,' the outlet reported. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' releases on digital this week: Where to watch
It's dinos vs. humans once again with the release of "Jurassic World Rebirth," the seventh film in the popular franchise. In the five years after the events of "Jurassic World Dominion," the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs and those remaining only exist in "isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived," the film's synopsis says. "The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind," it adds. Zora Bennett (Scarlet Johansson) is tasked to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material.
