A WOMAN and child were rushed to hospital after a horror rollercoaster crash at a family funfair.
Terri Murray was enjoying a day out with her niece and nephew at Knightly's Funfair Towyn, in Wales, on Saturday afternoon.

Panic ensured when the 39-year-old and her nephew, 10, went for a ride on the Gold Mine Express and heard a "sudden bang".
The cart they boarded suddenly derailed off its tracks and sent the pair flying 6ft to the ground.
Terri smashed her head on a metal bar as she crashed down, while also desperately trying to shield the youngster.
The battered and bruised pair were treated by paramedics before being taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital.

They remained there overnight for monitoring.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said they had "been notified and are making initial enquiries'.
Terri, from Birkenhead on the Wirral, told North Wales Live: "There was a loud bang, then it derailed. I headbutted a metal frame as the carriage came off the track and fell to tracks on the floor. I hit that and the floor.
"I pulled my nephew in close to my chest saving him as much as possible from getting hurt, he has a sore leg and is bruised and very shaken up, we both are."

Terri also told how her 18-year-old niece, who has learning needs, has been traumatised since witnessing the nightmare.
The 39-year-old is still struggling with her injuries, and claimed to be "in so much pain".
"It was so scary, all I keep thinking was thank God we're alive because it could have been so different, we could have been badly hurt or life changing or worse, dead," she added.
A HSE spokesperson said: 'We have been notified and are making initial enquiries."

Knightly's Funfair Towyn was contacted for comment.
This comes after another woman who was thrown from a fairground ride "like a ragdoll" at 60mph recalled the horror moment she slipped from her harness.
Jade Harrison suffered serious injuries and could "barely walk" after she woke up from the devastating accident in Hull.
The 27-year-old nursery nurse used to go to the Hull Fair every year.

But in 2019, she boarded the Airmaxx 360 ride and just minutes in, she began to slip out of her seat.
She heard a "clicking noise" on her safety restraint and fell out, flying through the air and hitting another ride.
She told BBC Panorama that when she opened her eyes, she had no memory of where she was or what had happened.
Elsewhere, a major park ride malfunctioned leaving terrified visitors stuck in the air in a "major incident".

Cops said they rushed to Skegness Pleasure Beach in Lincolnshire and were attempting to "rescue" the people on the ride last year.
And, cops arrested two men after a 180ft fairground ride collapsed and two women were taken to hospital in December.
Emergency services rushed to Centenary Square, in Birmingham, and scrambled to rescue trapped revellers on the Star Flyer ride.
The horror unfolded at around 7.30pm and saw 13 injured, with two women taken to hospital in non-life threatening conditions.

West Midlands Police confirmed they arrested two men, aged 55 and 21.
They have been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and obstructing officers.
One victim, Lou Brown, from Solihull, revealed her face, legs and arms were injured.
She told BBC WM: "We were on it having fun and it crashed to the ground. It went backwards first.

"It felt like we were descending, not at the highest point but still quite high. We just dropped.
"All the emergency services and everyone who helped at the scene were amazing."

Matthew Baker, 44, was on a family day out when his four-year-old son wanted to go on the Wacky Worm ride. He described how there was a "jaunting, jiggling noise" after the ride completed one lap. The ride then suddenly stopped and lifted the train off the rails completely before crashing back down and bouncing up again. Matthew claims that a section of the security fencing flew off and nearly hit his partner following the impact. After witnessing the horror, Matthew and two other men rushed to the ride and "ripped" at the gate to reach those still on board. "My four-year-old had a busted lip - there was a lot of blood - and he has bruises on his body," Matthew told WalesOnline. "My 15-year-old hurt her left knee, and my 13-year-old daughter, who was sitting behind them, hit her chin so hard her jaw is swollen and she's badly bruised around the ribs." He added: "Physically, there was nothing major," Matthew said. "But mentally, it's difficult." Emergency services raced to the scene after witnesses reported seeing the Wacky Worm ride derail shortly before 6pm. Gilbey, known for his appearances on the Channel 4 programme alongside his mum Linda McGarry and stepdad Pete McGarry, who passed away aged 71 in 2021, also reached the final of Celebrity Big Brother's 14th series in 2014. Gilbey's untimely death reportedly occurred following a workplace accident in Shoebury in March 2024. Essex Police were called to an incident in Southend's Shoebury on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, where a man had tragically died after falling from a height. A spokesperson for the force stated at the time: "We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at around 10am this morning (March 27), during which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury." Despite the arrival of an air ambulance, he sadly died at the scene. During the opening of an inquest into his death in April, it was revealed at the Essex coroner's court that he had plummeted through a plastic skylight and his injuries were "consistent with a fall from height". Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the incident but were later released under investigation, reports Essex Live. Now, Essex Police have confirmed that these individuals will not face any further action from the police. However, the criminal investigation remains open and ongoing, and will be headed by the Health and Safety Executive.
