'Black Friday-Like Sales': Best Buy Stock (NYSE:BBY) Gains On New Sales

Reports noted that Best Buy planned a week-long sales event, which was referred to as 'Black Friday in July.' The event is, not surprisingly, timed to coincide roughly with Amazon's (AMZN) eponymous Amazon Prime Days, and hopefully, steal some of that thunder for themselves.
Best Buy's senior vice president of customer offerings and fulfillment, Jason Bonfig, explained, 'We try to do everything that is the best of who Best Buy is, so it's the mixture of every category, its the mixture of the Doorbusters, the 'Deal of the Day' and then obviously bringing additional value on top of that to our members.' With a recent PwC survey revealing that 37% of shoppers were planning to pare back back-to-school spending, and 44% planning to cut technology purchases, there is a clear demand for Best Buy to improve value to get what it can get.
Dropping Healthcare
It might surprise you to know that Best Buy actually had kind of a healthcare arm in its ownership of Current Health. It might surprise you even more to know that 'had' in that previous sentence was quite correct, as Best Buy has it no longer. Its former co-founder, Christopher McGhee, reacquired the firm from Best Buy just recently.
Best Buy bought Current Health back in 2021. Given that this was during the pandemic, an investment in home healthcare made for a good idea. But Best Buy found it a tough needle to thread, as it restructured the health business and took a '…non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $475 million.' McGhee noted that the health sector in general is in 'early innings' of a shift from hospital to home-based operations, so, getting Current Health back from Best Buy made a certain sense.
Is Best Buy a Good Stock to Buy?
Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on BBY stock based on nine Buys, nine Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 13.17% loss in its share price over the past year, the average BBY price target of $80.53 per share implies 11.79% upside potential.

While it is tempting, given its baking dish look, the glass TempWare bowls are not intended to be used as the actual cooking vessels for batters in bake mode, because air still needs to circulate below the cooking vessels to be effective. (Will I try anyway? The temptation is real…) Pressing any button will indicate a digital timer to which you can add or subtract minutes. (The timer defaults to 10.) Below 1 minute, the timer changes into seconds and the device beeps to alert you when the cycle is complete. Pamela Vachon/CNET As expected, the ability to see the cooking in progress was really satisfying, both from a nerdy perspective and also to be able to look for visual cues in terms of when to flip your items or to assess doneness. Both chicken parts and Brussels sprouts were cooked evenly and efficiently with little risk of over-cooking given the 360-degree window into the proceedings. 2. Glass bowls are nontoxic and easy to get clean NInja Most air fryers use aluminum cooking baskets with a nonstick coating. Those coatings tend to chip and breakdown if you're not careful. Plenty of folks are concerned about the health ramifications for ingesting nonstick chemicals that chip of of cookware. With a glass-bowl air fryer, there's no worry. If that's not enough, glass is much easier to deep-clean than nonstick surfaces and you can use the dishwasher without issue. 3. The glass bowls double as food storage containers The cooked food is ready to be packed away or brought to a party as soon as it's done. Pamela Vachon/CNET The versatility, however, makes the Ninja Crispi tremendously interesting, especially for avid meal preppers. Full meals or individual cooked components can go right from cooking into the fridge, with the included lids for easy storage. (Although I am bound by refrigerator logistics to tell you to let it all cool first, so you don't inadvertently raise the temperature inside your fridge.) Additional cooking bowls in a variety of sizes can be purchased separately, allowing for the possibility of a multitude of individually cooked meals with no cleanup required in between use: just transfer the cooking pod from one cooking vessel to the next, assembly-line style. Sunday meal prep has never been easier, nor required fewer dishes. 4. It's easy to store The Ninja Crispi is also easy to store, with a footprint and height requirement that is far less than a lot of conventional models. It also makes for easy portability -- ideal for a potluck situation or even just a hot-meal self-care moment -- where you could even justify cooking on site. Either of the cooking bowls and the cooking pod could easily fit in a shoulder bag. If I worked in an office, it would thrill me to bring the whole thing with me to have a hot, healthful lunch without reheating. Although if you're contemplating being the person to cook fish directly at your desk -- maybe don't. Not only can the larger 4-quart bowl be used directly as a family-style serving vessel -- whose practical feet preclude the need for a trivet or pot holder -- but one could argue that the smaller 4-cup vessel can be used to eat out of directly, significantly reducing the number of dishes to wash. Speaking of washing, everything except the cooking pod itself is dishwasher-safe. Ninja Crispy setup Convenient as it, the glass cooking chamber does get hotter than your average air fryer base. Pamela Vachon/CNET Despite not looking anything like a typical air fryer, the Ninja Crispi was intuitive to set up and use. Each of the glass cooking vessels has a built-in stand with feet that keeps it off the counter surface. Side handles are also fitted on the stands of the bowls, which allow not only for easy transporting between the counter and the table (because the vessels can also be used to serve) but also make it easy to shake the contents as needed during the cooking process. The nonstick crisper plates were packaged separately and simple to place inside the bowls and to remove for cleaning. Lids for the 6-cup and 4-quart bowls were also included: a snap-on lid for the smaller and a simpler press-on lid for the larger. The cooking pod itself has an ergonomic shape for easy lifting and also has feet for safe placement on the counter when not in use. The cooking pod sits easily on top of the 6-cup bowl and a big-batch adapter frame fits the cooking pod onto the larger bowl. Between unwrapping and rinsing all of the washable parts, I was ready to go in about 2 minutes. What I didn't like about the Ninja Crispi Convenient as it, the glass cooking chamber does get hotter than your average air fryer base. Pamela Vachon/CNET As a modular device with a ton of built-in practicality and versatility, I do think the Ninja Crispi is a game-changer in the air fryer market. That said, at $160 it's on the higher side, price-wise, for an air fryer. Those with little ones in the house also may want to note: When the cooking pod is being used with the adapter for large batches, the adapter can become hot and is potentially exposed once the heating pod is removed. Never minding little ones, if you're an absent-minded cook yourself, it can be a hazard. It's satisfying to use and easy to store and clean. You may want to look for it on sale during Prime Days or the like, but even without a discount, its utility and the reputation of the Ninja brand merits its price tag.

After weeks of Nintendo Switch 2 shortages, major retailers across the US now have the highly coveted system available. Switch 2 restocks are becoming more frequent and lasting longer before the console returns to its default state of being sold out. Retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon have all restocked over the past month, and we're seeing this trend continue this week. It really does seem like the nightmare is finally over. Meanwhile, over in the U.K., we've seen an abundance of Switch 2 restocks, with the console regularly available across major retailers. Not only has the console been available more often, but these drops have often lasted several days before selling out. While the U.S. supply is increasing, it still remains significantly easier to score a Switch 2 in the U.K. If you have vacation time coming up, I hear London is nice this time of year. Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5 and costs $449 / £395 standalone and $499 / £429 bundled with Mario Kart World. As you'd expect, we've seen plenty of unscrupulous scalpers try and resell Switch 2s at an inflated markup, but don't be tempted to overpay. Stick with this live blog and we'll help you secure Nintendo's latest hardware at its regular price. I've personally been tracking restocks of hard-to-buy gaming items for more than five years, and I'm putting all that experience to good use to bring you the latest Switch 2 restock updates and also all the retailer links you need when the console does come back in stock. After being absent from the Switch 2 pre-order phase, Amazon U.S. launched a Nintendo Switch 2 listing page and is now allowing shoppers to request an invite to purchase. There are no details yet when invites will be sent, but sign up now to be in with a chance to score a Switch 2. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Amazon Best Buy currently has stock of Nintendo Switch 2 and the Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle. Best Buy has been primarly holding in-store restocks, but it's latest drop is also online. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Best Buy Target has restocked the Nintendo Switch 2 as of July 23 at 7 a.m. ET. Both the standalone console and the Mario Kart Bundle are available for shipping, so make your pick and get yours. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Target Sam's Club currently has stock of the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle! You can only order one per membership, though. Walmart looks to be out of stock of the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for $499. Walmart's usual restock pattern is to first release stock exclusively to Walmart Plus members before later opening up to Kart Bundle: $499 @ Walmart GameStop is currently sold out of Switch 2 consoles. However, as a specialist video game retailer, we're expecting more stock to arrive shortly, so watch this space. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ GameStop My Nintendo Store is using an invite system to allocate its available Switch 2 stock. You will need to meet specific criteria, including having a Nintendo Switch Online account and then be selected and sent an invite to order the console. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Nintendo Store Antonline's Switch 2 listings have a "coming soon" message. This could be a sign that the tech retailer is planning to restock the console in the near future, though that message has been there quite a while now, so it's a little puzzling. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Antonline Newegg's Nintendo Switch 2 pages are live, but there's currently no stock. Newegg may restock the console soon, but nothing is confirmed yet, so this is another one to watch closely for now. Mario Kart Bundle: $499 @ Newegg The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is practically guaranteed to be the most in-demand Switch 2 accessory, and it packs a suitable upgrade over its predecessor adding a headphone jack, the new "C" button, and customizable back buttons. Additional retailers: Best Buy | GameStop Need an extra set of Joy-Con 2 controllers for multiplayer, or just because it's always nice to have a spare? You can pick up an additional set of Joy-Con 2 at various retailers for $94. It's modeled after the iconic Piranha Planet from the Super Mario series and offers all the same features, plus you can close the Piranha's head to give yourself some privacy as needed. Huge caveat: it's resolution maxes out at 480p, whereas the Nintendo camera is retailers: Best Buy You don't need the Switch Joy-Con 2 Wheel to enjoy games like Mario Kart World, but it'll sure make the experience much more fun. You can get a set of two for just $24. Additional retailers: Best Buy | GameStop It's not the most exciting Switch 2 accessory, but should you need a spare AC adapter for your Switch to you can get one for $34. It connects directly to the Switch 2 Switch 2 retailers: Best Buy | GameStop Take your Switch 2 on the road with the official Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case. It's big enough so you can carry the Switch 2, Nintendo Switch 2 dock, Joy-Con 2 controllers, various cables, and up to six game retailers: Best Buy | GameStop The Switch 2 comes with an increased storage capacity of up to 2TB. However, the Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards, which means you'll need new storage cards for your console. This new entry will allow up to 24 drivers to take part in each race, and you'll be able to drive anywhere on the track. The new game will feature all new modes, game types, and rules that work with the new console. It'll feature everything we loved about the original as well as some improvements like better graphical fidelity, HDR support, and frame rate improvements. It's the masterpiece you (probably) know, but it looks and runs better than ever. If you've never played Breath of the Wild, there really isn't a better time to jump into Hyrule than via this Switch 2 retailers: Best Buy Hitman World of Assassination Signature Edition brings the complete IO Interactive trilogy to Nintendo Switch 2. In this action-stealth game, you play the world's most lethal killer, Agent 47, as they travel the globe eliminating high-value targets in a multitude of creative ways. Each mission is highly replayable, and this Signature Edition also comes with a wealth of extra content. In fact, I'd go further, it's currently the reason to get one. This platform is a complete blast, and the way you can smash through entire levels never stops being novel. It's also a collector's dream with a staggering amount of knick-knacks to find, and the completionist in me wanted to find literally everything. If you already own a Switch 2, or plan to pick one up soon once the next round of restocks appear, then you need to make sure DK Bananza is one of the first games you play. Yes, Mario Kart World is fun, but Bananza is the true Switch 2 system seller. Donkey Kong Bananza allows DK to smash his way through (and down into) the surrounding terrain.
