And Just Like That's ‘terrible' finale sparks fan conspiracy theory
And Just Like That ended last night, and fans have a lot to say.
After three seasons, the Sex and the City sequel series concluded as Sarah Jessica Parker's Cassie Bradshaw accepted that it was ok to be on her own and she should stop waiting for a man to make her happy.
In the final scene, Carrie eats dessert in the kitchen before dancing around her house to You're The First, The Last, My Evening by Barry White.
Oh, and the episode also included an overflowing toilet, which some particularly vocal fans have used as a metaphor.
'The series finale was a literal piece of s**t #AndJustLikeThat,' wrote @rosechocglam on X, while @yeetbeete added: 'Oh it definitely got cancelled and they had to SCRAMBLE because what in the literal s**t 🚽💩 was that #AndJustLikeThat.'
Indeed, a lot of fans are now running with the conspiracy theory that HBO pulled the plug on the show, leaving bosses scrambling for an ending.
'Ok And Just Like That was def cancelled. No way that they had planned in advance to end this series in this way,' argued @youknowwhat6504.
They continued: 'What they did to the iconic run of Sex and the city and the disaster this series was but what could've been should be studied. #andjustlikethatfinale #andjustlikethat'
@FatouSadio bluntly wrote: 'This was a terrible series finale. #AndJustLikeThat'
However, the show's creator Michael Patrick King insisted the show has ended exactly as he wanted.

'Yes. I wouldn't have stopped. The ending told us to stop when we were writing, and that sentence, the woman realized she was not alone. She was on her own,' he told Deadline. 'It was so important for me to hear, and it just sort of appeared.
'I was like, well, that's the ending, especially since it is a response and a callback to Carrie at the end of Sex and the City when she says, 'The most significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And then if you find someone to love, love you, love, that's fabulous.'
'She's saying that voiceover while Mr. Big is calling to say, 'I'm coming to town.' '
He described the ending as 'the most significant addition we could add to this whole Carrie Bradshaw universe', and that he realised it was the right time for 'her to stop'.
He added: 'It's for the women who have someone or the people who have someone. More importantly, it's for the people who don't have someone. If you can feel good about the life you create, it's great.' More Trending
Michael also defended the poo scene, insisting it fit the longrunning tone of both shows.
'It was silicone poop. And it was a one-take poop. We didn't have to do it twice. Sex and the City and And Just Like That has always dealt with a lot of relationship shit,' he said.

Hostage review: Political thriller sets bonkers bar high
*** Channel 4 was understandably delighted this week to acquire Sherlock creator Steven Moffat's Number 10, a drama set in what its makers dub 'the only terrace house in history with mice and a nuclear deterrent'. Let the record show, however, that Suranne Jones got there first with Hostage. There have been Downing Street thrillers before Netflix's latest, and there will be more after, starting with Moffat's, but Hostage sets the bonkers bar impressively high. Jones plays British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton. The Dalton government is beset by crises, chief among them a shortage of cancer drugs. To top it all, the PM's teenage daughter has been out on the town with mates, and the French president is coming round to tell Dalton off for being soft on migrants. Madame President is played, rather magnificently, by Julie Delpy, bona fide French cinema goddess/writer/director. What a hoot it is to see her character waft into Downing Street, a right-winger ready to do battle with Dalton's seemingly soppy liberal. But what do you know: fate has brought these two alpha women together for a reason, or reasons, that will emerge over five episodes. Created and written by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), it is almost impossible to say more about the plot of Hostage because the series relies so heavily on killer twists and handbrake turns. I'm convinced Netflix and the other streamers have secret labs somewhere churning out plot surprises, the crazier the better, and there are some doozies here. Best to consider the title a clue and take it from there. Read more: With all this high-octane mayhem going on, Hostage needs its ballast. Lending Jones and Delpy a hand are James Cosmo as the Prime Minister's dad (complete with a north of England accent to match his screen daughter), Lucian Msamati (Conclave, Gangs of London) as her chief of staff, and Ashley Thomas as her doctor husband. Jones and Delpy do most to smooth the rough edges, and there are a few. The Downing Street in Hostage has the smallest press pack I've ever seen. They look more like a bus queue than a posse of reporters. Some of the dialogue sounds like a beginner's guide to British politics. And if you want a drinking game, take a gulp for every time Dalton kicks her heels off to signal how fed up she is with keeping up appearances when her world is crumbling. Jones is an executive producer on Hostage. What a distance she's come since playing one of Steve McDonald's many wives in Coronation Street. Doctor Foster made her a small-screen A-lister, and from then on she had her pick of parts. Not everything has gone her way - HBO fell out of love with period drama Gentleman Jack - but the successes, including the Scotland-set police thriller Vigil - have kept coming. Now she's an industry player in her own right, her name enough to carry a series, nationally and internationally. Real-life Prime Ministers should watch and learn.

Netflix thriller with 20m views hits major stumbling block for season 2 return
Fans of The Perfect Couple who were waiting with bated breath – while clad in their finest garms – may have to wait a little longer than anticipated for the next glamorous instalment of the Netflix hit. In March it was reported that the limited series – starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Meghann Fahy, Eve Hewson and others – was getting a follow-up season from another Nantucket-set book by best-selling The Perfect Couple author Elin Hilderbrand. The book in question is 2024's Swan Song, and it was set to be written by The Bear producer Joanna Calo. However, Deadline now reports Joanna has exited the project, according to sources, and there is no confirmed replacement for the much-anticipated Swan Song adaption, said to be in early development. A representative from Netflix declined to provide Deadline a comment, and has never confirmed a possible Perfect Couple season two. It was reported Australian acting royalty Nicole and Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier would be co-producing the Swan Song series, as they did The Perfect Couple. Upon its release in September 2024, the first series racked up a whopping 20 million views in a week, topping the most-watched chart after only four days. The series was initially reviewed poorly, with some critics calling it a genre 'mess'. However viewers were hooked and are waiting impatiently for more upmarket murders, making it a successful swing after all. Speaking to Metro last year, director Susanne emphasised the significance of the Nantucket setting, describing the island as 'super important.' 'The island of Nantucket is, is a, is a player of its own. And it's not just the physical Island. It's also like a mental island. 'It is very, it's, it's very insular for good and bad.' The Kelly Clarkson Show's filming schedule reportedly won't be impacted by the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Production is said to be due to kick off as planned in a matter of weeks. As reported by Deadline, the program is 'on track to start production in early September as scheduled, with tickets available on studio audience sites.' The talent manager died on August 7, aged 48, of natural causes after battling malignant melanoma. Kelly postponed her Las Vegas residency in order to spend more time with their children, River, 11, and Remington, nine, right before his death. In an update regarding her work schedule, a source told Deadline that Kelly missed one shoot for The Voice earlier this month following his passing, but that she was returning this week to film the NBC talent show. Reba McEntire, who was stepmother to Brandon, also filmed her appearance for Season 28. Brandon's death was announced by a family representative on the day he died. They told People at the time: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' The 43-year-old pop star - who endured an acrimonious split from the talent manager - had announced on X shortly before his passing: 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.' Although the singer revealed that Brandon was ill, she didn't share any other details about his sickness.
