The very next day, the Braves designated Kimbrel for assignment. Catcher James McCann, another veteran currently stuck with Atlanta's Triple-A team who was also teammates of Kimbrel's last season with the Baltimore Orioles, didn't hold back in his criticism of the organization for their treatment of Kimbrel. "That really frustrated me and a lot of the guys in our locker room were very frustrated with it," McCann said to The Athletic. "It was strange to call him up for a day and DFA him. He's not just a run-of-the-mill reliever who became a journeyman after two or three years in the big leagues. He's a future Hall of Famer." Former Georgia LB Nakobe Dean throws out first pitch for top Braves rival Former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Nakobe Dean threw out the first pitch of the Philadelphia Phillies' June 11 home game against the Chicago Cubs. Dean won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles this past NFL season. Dean took advantage of an awesome opportunity to throw a first pitch at a MLB game, which is something most people never get a chance to do. Dean delivered with a pretty good pitch after receiving applause from Philadelphia fans. Georgia fans that are also Atlanta Braves fans may not be ecstatic to see Dean throw out a first pitch for another MLB team, especially since the Phillies are one of the Braves' most hated NL East rivals. However, the chance to throw out a first pitch is not one that almost anybody should ever pass up. Dean, who is from Horn Lake, Mississippi, is not necessarily a Braves fan. Dean delivered the first pitch despite recovering from a torn patellar tendon he suffered during NFL postseason. He has been unable to participate in spring practice with the Eagles and definitely took it easy on his first pitch.
