Osamah Al-Haddad gave a thumbs up as he was spared jail over child sex abuse videos

He originally came to the UK on a student visa but claimed asylum after fearing he would be forced to fight for the Houthis in his native Yemen.
But while going through screening after flying into Heathrow, immigration officials discovered the twisted clips.
Al-Haddad admitted three counts of making indecent photos of children and one count of making a pseudo-photograph of a child.
But he was spared jail at Isleworth Crown Court "because of his fear of repercussions refusing to fight" in Yemen.

Al-Haddad was later seen giving a thumbs up as he walked free after being filmed outside court.
He also tried to deny any knowledge of the source of the videos, saying: "I don't know. I explained them (the court) everything (sic)."
The court was told Al-Haddad's asylum application was pending, but he is allowed to live and work in Plymouth, Devon.
John Hunter, defending, said: "Although the defendant entered the country as an asylum seeker, he is now working in a restaurant.
"He receives a monthly income of around £781 a month. He gives most to his wife and child back in Yemen, and he hopes to bring them to this country to live with him."
Al-Haddad, who used an Arabic interpreter during proceedings, claimed the images were sent to him by a friend on WhatsApp.
Judge Fiona Barrie handed him a 30-week sentence, suspended for a year.
Al-Haddad was also be made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years and 150 hours of unpaid work.
The judge said: "The category A video involves an act of bestiality which is grotesque and is depraved.
"You should do well to remember that this is a real child who has experienced this abuse, and those are significant aggravating factors.
"You claim you have no sexual interest in children and received the images from a WhatsApp group.
"But I share the concerns of the pre-sentence report which state that you are not entirely honest about that.
"You have had those videos saved since August 2021, in your possession to view and certainly not deleted by you."
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has set out plans to ban foreign sex offenders from gaining asylum in the UK, but any offender would have to be sentenced to more than a year in prison.

Scot accused of murdering wife joked he would ‘kill her and move to Thailand'
His lawyer said it was nothing but a "quip" 'KILLING' QUIP Scot accused of murdering wife joked he would 'kill her and move to Thailand' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A SCOT accused of murdering his wife while kayaking joked to a friend that he would 'kill her and move to Thailand' if she left him and took half of his pension, a court has heard. Graeme Davidson, 56, was charged over the 2020 death of Jacqueline Davidson in May after arriving back in Australia from Thailand. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Ex-Army captain Graeme Davidson is accused of murdering his wife Jacqueline in November 2020 The ex-Army major had moved there several months after his 54-year-old wife drowned, and later married a Thai resident. Mrs Davidson's death at Lake Samsonvale, north of Brisbane, was initially considered to be an accidental drowning but was later deemed by detectives to be suspicious. Davidson, originally of Glasgow, was also charged with fraud and attempted fraud, in relation to insurance claims he made totalling more than £500,000. He is making a bid for his release on bail in Brisbane's Supreme Court. Defence lawyer Craig Eberhardt told the court the Crown's case against his client was "fundamentally weak". He also insisted the case against Davidson may be "non-existent," at worst and "arguable" at best. The court heard claims that the only piece of evidence the prosecution could refer to in its case was the statement of one of Mr Davidson's friends, relating to an alleged conversation in mid-July 2017. Mr Eberhardt said they were talking about another friend, whose wife had left him on the day of his retirement, took half of his pension and one of the parties moved to Thailand. The court heard the statement alleges Mr Davidson replied and said, "oh sh*t yeah, I'd kill her and move to Thailand too," but his lawyer said it was nothing but a "quip". Mr Eberhardt said when put in context, the statement is "not nearly as sinister as it sounds" and said police were told of this conversation eight years after it is said to have occurred. Mum-of-two 'raped & murdered by coercive ex-fiance' at hotel after agreeing to celebrate his 60th birthday He added: "And so, one wonders if firstly, if that is reliable, secondly, if it's even admissible." Mr Eberhardt argued there was no evidence to suggest Mrs Davidson had told her husband she intended to leave him or take half of his pension. But the court heard some witnesses told police she had raised the idea of separating with him, after she learned her husband had an affair with a local woman during an army posting in Papua New Guinea, which caused "significant matrimonial upset". However, Mr Eberhardt said Mrs Davidson later told friends that she wanted to stay to try and make the marriage work. The Supreme Court was told Davidson did move to Thailand after his wife's death, and remarried in 2022, but was in "constant communication with the coroner's office and police," and came back to Australia twice between when he left, and when he was arrested. The defence will continue its submissions next week where prosecutors are expected to oppose Davidson's application for bail.

Cops continue hunt for campsite predator after eight-year-old boy sexually assaulted in tent
An eight-year-old boy was preyed on while in his tent just yards from where his family had camped up. A manhunt is continuing today after a predator sexually assaulted a young boy at a campsite before fleeing the area. An eight-year-old boy was preyed on while in his tent just yards from where his family had camped up. The sickening attack happened at Loch Ness Bay Campsite in Drumnadrochit between 12.20am and 1am on Thursday, July 31. Officers from Police Scotland say a man approached the child within his tent before sexually assaulting him and leaving the area. The horror incident happened while the boy was on a camping trip with his family. Specialist officers have been drafted in to support the boy and traumatised loved ones. Police have now organised a press conference this afternoon as the search for the predator continues. The media will speak to Superintendent Judy Hill and Detective Superintendent Calum Smith at Inverness Police Station at 2pm on Friday. Detectives are desperately trying to trace the male suspect who they have described as a white man, aged between 35-50-years-old. He is around 5ft 10ins tall and bald. Officers swarmed the popular campsite on Thursday as they promised extra patrols in an attempt to reassure the local community. Police have been pouring through CCTV footage and say they are carrying out enquiries in the local area. Senior detectives have appealed to campers for help and asked anyone who saw something suspicious to get in touch. They have described their investigation as "significant" into what they say will be a "worrying and upsetting" incident for residents. Detective Inspector Christopher Macleod said: 'This sexual assault was carried out on a young boy, who was camping overnight with his family and it is vital we trace the man responsible as soon as possible. A dedicated team of officers are carrying out investigations, including carrying out enquiries in the local area and reviewing all available CCTV footage. "I would urge anyone who was staying in the Drumnadrochit area to come forward, as any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is, could prove vital. Please think back - do you recognise anyone who matches the description of the suspect? Or did you see anyone behaving in a strange manner, giving cause for concern, or loitering in the area?
