'Super habitual offender': Prosecutor requests sentence enhancement for accused Oxford Christmas Eve shooter

OXFORD, Mich. (FOX 2) - Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald requested a sentence enhancement for a man accused of killing a woman during a Christmas Eve shooting in Oxford that also wounded two others.
McDonald is requesting that Malik Letroy Webb, 30, be charged as a "super habitual offender" to ensure that, if convicted, he goes to prison for at least 25 years.
The backstory
Webb, of Flint, crashed into a ditch near Ray and North Oxford roads around 6:15 p.m. Dec. 24, 2024. When Dr. Barbara Wolf stopped to help, Webb allegedly shot Wolf and her 39-year-old daughter. Wolf later died at a hospital, while her daughter was non-fatally wounded.
Another driver who also stopped to help, a 56-year-old man, was shot in the arm, and a 39-year-old woman was allegedly held at gunpoint in a failed carjacking attempt.
After the shooting, Webb was charged with felony murder, three counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of felonious assault, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and nine counts of third offense felony firearm possession.
"The victims in this case were literal good Samaritans, terrorized simply for trying to be helpful," McDonald said. "This defendant has served multiple sentences for past gun crimes. We cannot allow repeat violent offenders to continue endangering our communities. Enough is enough."
According to records, Webb has a felony record dating back to at least 2014, when he was charged with numerous weapons offenses. After serving a probation sentence for those crimes, Webb went to prison for more weapons offenses. While behind bars, he was also convicted of possessing a weapon while in prison.
After the shooting, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard blasted the criminal justice system. He called for stronger penalties for violent offenders.
What's next
Webb is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on May 13.

A Detroit City Council member is urging the federal government to provide better pathways to citizenship. "The federal government needs to have an actual process for people to become citizens," said one protester. "We do not have a process and myself I am an immigrant. I was born in Mexico. And when it was easier, it still took us ten years, and we still paid thousands of dollars to become citizens." Warr Acres woman charged after allegedly drugging grandchildren, locking them in dog cage for hours
WARR ACRES, Okla. (KFOR) — A year-long investigation has led to the arrest of 53-year-old Davena Marx, after police say she drugged her grandchildren and locked them in a dog cage. Marx has been charged with four counts of Child Abuse and one count of Child Neglect. Warr Acres Assistant Police Chief Jason Allen said Marx's arrest came later, due to forensic interviews with the children and gathering evidence with the District Attorney's Office. 'The day we went out with them, there was enough to immediately remove the children, which is often not the case,' Asst. Chief Allen said. 'They did find a large dog cage in the residence, and they also did locate Seroquel, which was also one of the allegations that Seroquel had been given to the children as well,' he added. In court documents, Marx's two grandchildren, both under 10 years old, detail the horrific abuse to DHS Investigators. One of the children said Marx would step on their feet and grind her heels into their toes, also hitting them with belts that would leave bruises covering their bodies. OKC man remains missing after vanishing on Christmas Eve The child also said, 'Memaw sells drugs and uses them; she makes us stay in the dog cage when she wants to go outside by herself.' 'The children did test positive for Seroquel, so she was definitely giving them this,' Asst. Chief Allen said. A neighbor also told officers she noticed the children with black eyes and eating out of the dumpster. She also heard Marx cursing at them and calling them worthless. The abuse took place at a Warr Acres apartment complex near N. MacArthur. Neighbors in the complex were stunned when they heard about the abuse. 'It's crazy, it's crazy, and something should be done to her,' said Kenneth Greer. Greer also said, 'It's sad and sickening, that someone would do this to kids, locking them up in a cage, giving them drugs, beating them and everything, that's crazy.' News 4 learned that the children's father was killed in a road rage incident. The mother's whereabouts are unknown. However, officers say the children are now with other family members. Police: Suspect tracked obituaries, stole from dead St. Louis County residents
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A suspect tracked obituaries of multiple St. Louis County residents who recently died, then broke into their homes to steal jewelry, weapons and other high-priced items, police say. The suspect allegedly left his own debit card behind at one home, eventually linking him to multiple burglaries. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Brandon Welch, 33, of St. Louis, with second-degree burglary and two counts of stealing. Homicide investigation underway in north St. Louis County The burglary leading to Welch's charges occurred on May 6, 2024 in the 2600 block of Blackforest Drive in south St. Louis County. According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Welch acted with another person to steal a Lowes credit card, jewelry and a firearm from the home. Investigators say Welch left behind his own debit card at the scene, along with a card belonging to the victim of another apparent burglary. While investigating, police learned that a neighbor's surveillance camera captured a Dodge Ram at the scene for nearly four hours, which later linked Welch to the crime. After the burglary, the victim's Lowe's card was used to purchase more than $3,000 of merchandise for pickups. A driver in a Dodge Ram later arrived at the Lowe's location to retrieve items, but the store had been alerted to possible fraud and ultimately stopped the transaction. That's when Welch allegedly called Lowe's twice in an attempt to complete the pickup. Investigators then began tracking his phone activity, which revealed unusual patterns. Subscribe Now According to court documents, Welch's Gmail account showed that he search for obituaries in the St. Louis region, along with directions for at least two homes of deceased victims. Welch's Gmail account captured an IP address activity that linked his location to Black Forest Drive on the day of the burglary. Phone logs determined Welch made 15 calls to a specific phone number shortly before the Dodge Ram pulled up to the victim's home. Authorities issued a warrant for Welch's arrest on Tuesday, per Missouri court records. It's unclear if any additional suspects are facing or could face charges in this case.
