This Off-Road Honda Fit Is Really a Polaris RZR Underneath and It Rips
When you think about it, anything can become an off-roading beast nowadays. With the proper tires, lift kit, suspension, and disregard for self-preservation—er, I mean, passion —even a Honda Fit can terrorize your neighborhood's immaculate lawns.
Resembling a Micro Machines car come to life is Danny Duncan's off-roading 2017 Honda Fit. It was actually lifted and transformed into an off-roader in 2020, and you can check out that incarnation of the vehicle at the 2:41 mark of this old video. Last year, fellow content creator/builder Mike Masse crashed Duncan's Polaris RZR. Masse's injuries put him in the hospital, but by the time he was discharged, he had an idea: swapping the Fit's innards for the RZR's.
A modded Fit 4×4 has been done before, but a body swap? To be a true off-roader, sure, why not give the subcompact Honda a side-by-side's capability? As Masse explains, the fit of the, uh, Fit was underwhelming. 'The little transmission can't turn 35s, the suspension is creaky, and there's some broken parts,' he said in his first video about the build. Nevertheless, he also casually added that 'It might be the best Honda Fit to ever exist.'
Masse started posting about the project in March, documenting the repair of the RZR, the body swap, and the teardown test drive, which happened just a couple of weeks ago and is embedded above. To see and hear the 'upgraded' RZR-Fit (this thing needs a real name), you can skip to about 7:27.
Masse rips the little Honda around the property near the garage at full squeal. This definitely can no longer be called a small, front-wheel-drive car. It doesn't sound like a Fit at all, and in overhead shots, it doesn't drive like one either, rumbling around those dirt corners. Masse then takes the lifted Honda to the streets and, subsequently, the grassy road verges. That bit starts at the 8:38 mark, and we see the Fit's handling from the road. And, as you'd expect, the thing drives over and onto everything with very little effort. A standard Fit would've lost a bumper at the least.
The joyride ends with a sheriff's deputy waiting back at the shop due to reports of 'racing.' Masse doesn't say what the result of the conversation was, but tells us, 'I don't think I broke 40 mph.' He adds, 'Typical, like [a] Honda thing where it sounds like it's fast and it sounds loud, but it's not really going anywhere.'
The off-road Fit is unfinished, of course. Masse wants to address 'clunking' noises he heard, improve the stopping power of the brakes, and add another inch or two of lift to better accommodate the big tires, which still rub against the fender during hard stops and turning. The overall build won't win any points for cleanliness, but the vehicle is structurally sound thanks to all the welding that was done. Masse did a great job of making regularly serviceable bits, like refueling, easily accessible. Let's hope the next test is on an actual trail, though.

Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition Marks European Sales Exit
The Honda Civic Type R will no longer be sold in Europe after next year. Honda's hottest hatch is leaving the market due to emission rules, but it's bidding farewell with the limited-volume Ultimate Edition. Honda will sell 40 copies of the CTR Ultimate, which gets red exterior decals and various carbon-fiber trim pieces. If you live in Europe and are considering buying a new Honda Civic Type R, you may want to act fast. Honda has announced that it will stop selling the hot hatch in the market next year. To say goodbye to Europeans, the CTR is getting a special send-off in the form of the Ultimate Edition. Farewell, Civic Type R Why is the Civic Type R exiting Europe? Honda says the decision was due to "European legislation," meaning the racy hatchback's 324-hp turbo four is too rich for the region's emission rules. That means Honda will sell 40 Ultimate Editions along with the rest of the CTR inventory, which should run out in 2026. Honda The Ultimate treatment includes a red stripe that runs down the middle of the hood. It's paired with red decals on the car's body sides that fade into hashes. The black-painted roof contrasts with the CTR's classic Championship White paint, which is the only color you can get on the Ultimate Edition. As the Euro version of the ultimate Civic drives into the sunset, an exclusive carbon-fiber wing will adorn its rear spoiler. Special CTR Trinkets Inside, the Type R's red carpet and fantastic front seats remain, but Honda has added more ambient lighting as well as carbon-fiber trim. The latter material graces the hatch's center-console panel and door-sill plaques. And when you open the front doors, the Type R logo is illuminated onto the ground. Each of the 40 Ultimate cars will also come with a gift box with an individually numbered emblem. Honda Honda Honda hasn't said how much the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition will cost, but considering it's only building 40 of them, the collector cars will likely come with a sizable premium. The upcharge will also include a special car cover, floor mats, and a carbon key ring. Meanwhile, those of us in the States might miss out on some desirable European-only models, but at least we can still buy a new Civic Type R for the foreseeable future. Farewell Honda Civic Type R: Hot Hatch Pulled From Europe
Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition After 28 years and six generations, the Honda Civic Type R is being pulled from the U.K. and European markets. However, to commemorate its long production run, Honda is building a limited-edition car. Honda said it will remove the Civic Type R in 2026. "The industry is changing, and our model range is having to evolve with it in accordance with European legislation. However, Type R has always been Honda's ultimate expression of our passion for driving excitement, and we look forward to celebrating its heritage in the weeks and months ahead.' Sadly, the Honda Civic Type R does not comply with the stricter upcoming emissions standards set by the European Union and the U.K. The aforementioned special edition car, monikered the Ultimate Edition, will celebrate the Civic Type R's legacy as it bows out in Europe. Only 40 cars will be produced (10 destined for the U.K.), each featuring signature Champion White paintwork with contrasting red stripes, a nod to the model's traditional interior color. Honda Civic Type R There's no mention of extra performance, but the sixth generation car it's based on develops 324 bhp and 310 lb-ft, meaning 0-to-62 mph in 5.4 seconds and 171 mph flat out. The Honda Civic Type R also holds the crown for being the fastest front-wheel-drive car around Suzuka Circuit, Japan, with a time of 2`23". The Honda Civic Type-R joins other axed front-wheel-drive hot hatches like the Ford Focus ST and Hyundai i30N. This leaves the Volkswagen Golf and Polo GTI, Mini Cooper S, and its spicier JCW sibling. Fortunately, the four-wheel drive hot hatch market is fronted by the Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-Benz AMG A45 S, and Toyota GR Yaris, and more manufacturers are releasing electrified alternatives. Honda Civic Type R EK9 Honda never sold the first-gen (EK9) Civic Type R in the U.K. However, Honda introduced its second-gen EP3 into the market as an indirect Integra Type R replacement. And, by God, it caused a storm. The Honda Civic Type R's 2.0-liter four-cylinder screamed to 8,000 rpm and developed 197 bhp at 7,400 rpm. This, combined with a stunning chassis and modest pricing, made it an immediate hit. They are a rarer sight on British roads today, but many fine examples still exist. The spaceship-like FN2 arrived in 2007, powered by the same engine. However, Japan received a more powerful and lighter variant; the U.K. car was 153kg heavier than the previous model. In 2015, the FK2 arrived with a turbocharged powerplant aimed at higher-powered machines; this was the first Type R to nudge nearly 170 mph. Finally, the fifth (FK8) and sixth (FL5) generation cars arrived in 2017 and 2023. Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition Many argue that the FK8 was the finest front-wheel-drive hot hatch of its time; some even said it was the best front-wheel-drive performance car full stop. Still, its styling unfavored against older models. Finally, the FL5. This is a sublime machine that you can take the kids to school in before hitting some backroads. The chassis was beautifully balanced, the brakes had bite, and the tires had more grip. We will be sad to see it go, but perhaps it is for the best. Cars are girthier now, which means more weight, and with stringent regulations, this could also result in less power. Type R's have allowed the driver to become part of the machine, and removing that engagement would break our hearts even more. Farewell, Honda Civic Type R.
