And during United's post-season tour of Asia, Garnacho was involved in an altercation with a fan.
SunSport revealed last month that the winger favours a move to Chelsea.

Viktor Gyokeres receives £11m contract offer after Arsenal and Man Utd bids

Viktor Gyokeres has received a rival contract offer worth £11m-a-year after holding talks with Arsenal and Manchester United, according to reports. The 27-year-old has been in talks with Premier League giants Arsenal and Man United following another sensational season at Sporting Lisbon. Signed from Championship side Coventry City in 2023, Gyokeres scored 43 goals during his first season at Sporting under United manager Ruben Amorim. Gyokeres went to another level last season, scoring 54 goals in 52 appearances as Sporting clinched the Portuguese league title. Arsenal and Manchester United were thought to be in a direct battle to sign Gyokeres, who has a release clause of £84m but is available for closer to £70m. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new striker after going yet another season without a trophy and would happily welcome Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko to the Emirates Stadium. Amorim had been hoping to book a reunion with his former Sporting star at Old Trafford despite United finishing just 15th in the Premier League and failing to qualify for the Champions League. But Portuguese outlet Report claimed over the weekend that Gyokeres had decided against joining Manchester United this summer and was instead pushing for a move to Arsenal. That appeared to leave Arsenal in pole position to win the transfer race but the situation was complicated further by reports that the Gunners are becoming 'fed up' with negotiations with both the player and his current club. According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are planning to take advantage of the uncertainty by hijacking the transfer and bringing Gyokeres to Turin. It is claimed that after talks with Gyokeres' representatives the Serie A giants indicated they are ready to draw up a contract worth £11m-a-year. Any Juve move for Gyokeres will, however, rely first on the club offloading current striker Dusan Vlahovic, who continues to be linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Reports in Italy also say Juventus are planning to make an official offer for Gyokeres, believed to be worth more than £60m, 'in the next few days'. Arsenal and Manchester United could yet face further competition for Gyokeres from Saudi Arabia, who are keen to add another star name to their league. Gyokeres recently rejected an approach from Al Hilal but may make a U-turn if moves to Arsenal, United or Juventus fail to materialise. Spending another season at Sporting Lisbon appears to be off the table, with Gyokeres believed to be 'furious' at his club over their approach to his potential sale. Ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand believes Gyokeres should 'cause a nightmare' at Sporting to force a move this summer. 'I'll tell you one thing, I would be in his office [Sporting president Frederico Varandas] and he wouldn't be able to leave me,' Ferdinand told talkSPORT when asked about the latest rumours. 'I'd be in his bed, I'd be in his front room, his kitchen, he wouldn't be able to get me out of his sight. I'd be causing him a nightmare to get out if we'd had an agreement. 'I did that when I was at Leeds. I heard that Manchester United were interested in me and I knew had to let me go. 'I went to Peter Ridsdale and said, 'Listen, I know you need to sell me, let's not haggle over a couple of million here and there and let's get a deal done', and I was there for hours waiting and ended up getting it done.' Ferdinand has been impressed by Gyokeres' sensational record for Sporting Lisbon but still doubts he would transform Manchester United. More Trending 'Is he the right guy? Listen, he has some really good attributes. I've not seen enough of him to be totally convinced,' the six-time Premier League winner added. 'The games I have seen him in, in the Champions League against players that match him up physically, I'd love to see a bit more. 'But there's no denying that he knows where the goal is. He's playing in Portugal where he's been banging in and setting up goals left, right and centre the last couple of years. 'I just think for Manchester United, at this moment in time, I would go for experience more than anything.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Man Utd identify Viktor Gyokeres alternative and hold upper hand over rivals

Manchester United are in the market for a new No.9 this summer but have seemingly switched their focus from Viktor Gyokeres with the Sweden striker keen on a move to Arsenal Manchester United are said to be the only club who have made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike as they search for a new striker, with Viktor Gyokeres now favouring a move to Arsenal. Gyokeres, 27, has been heavily linked with United in recent months after another stellar season for Sporting Lisbon. The Swede is well known by Ruben Amorim, who worked with him in Portugal before moving to Old Trafford last year. ‌ But with Arsenal also in the frame and able to offer Champions League football, reports in Portugal claim Gyokeres is not currently angling for a move to Old Trafford. ‌ United have since switched their focus to Ekitike and, according to Bild, have already expressed their interest in the Frenchman to Eintracht Frankfurt. The report adds that, as things stand, United are the only club to make contact with the Bundesliga outfit despite recent links to both Chelsea and Liverpool. And as well stealing a march on their rivals, Markus Krösche, the sporting director at Frankfurt, is said to be friends with United's head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, plus Ekitike is thought to be 'open' to the idea of moving to Manchester. Ekitike, 22, enjoyed a stellar season for Frankfurt, who finished third in the Bundesliga despite losing the services of Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in January. The German outfit also have form for securing top money for their elite stars including Marmoush, who joined City for a huge transfer fee in the winter window, and Randal Kolo Muani in recent years. ‌ It's said that Frankfurt value the France Under-21 star at around £85million - a sum which could prove too rich for United, who have already splashed £62.5m on a deal for Matheus Cunha and could end up spending a similar sum to bring Bryan Mbeumo in too. Mbeumo is expected to leave Brentford this summer but is also attracting interest from Tottenham, who have just appointed the Bees' boss, Thomas Frank, as their new manager. ‌ The Cameroon star did not comment on transfer speculation during an impromptu interview at the Canadian Grand Prix but did tip Frank to be a big hit at Spurs, telling Sky Sports: "He's done so much for me. "He literally trusted me from the start [at Brentford] and he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player so much as well. I can only wish him all the best and I'm sure he's going to do well." He added: "He knows everything; he's really smart and knows what he wants to bring the team, how he wants them to play. He's been fantastic for Brentford." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. However, City will be prepared to accept a fee of around £45m for Grealish, 29, who Pep Guardiola axed from his Club World Cup squad. SunSport understands Napoli would prefer to sign Grealish. But they know Garnacho would be a better investment — as he is nine years younger. Napoli would love to reunite Grealish with City legend Kevin De Bruyne, who signed a two-year deal on Thursday to end a trophy-laden ten years at the Etihad. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL 'I heard it go' Tony Bellew forced off with nasty injury just five minutes into Soccer Aid Grealish, who became England's first £100m player when he signed from Aston Villa in 2021, will be desperate to force his way into Thomas Tuchel's plans for next summer's World Cup. Tottenham and Everton have been linked with a move, while a return to Villa could appeal. However, it is unlikely City would receive a £45m offer from a Premier League club — meaning a loan would be his only option to stay in England. Prem sides would also be unlikely to pay Grealish's £230,000-a-week wages in full. Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League but United's £70m price tag has put off suitors. Chelsea backed off after showing interest back in January. The Argentine winger was left out of Ruben Amorim's starting line-up for the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and only went on as a late substitute. Boss Amorim then told Garnacho to find a new club this summer. 6 6 Meanwhile, Inter Milan are stepping up their efforts to land United's goal-shy forward Rasmus Hojlund. Inter are interested in taking the 22-year-old to the San Siro on loan next season, with a view to a permanent deal in 2026. United would prefer the cash now as they look to give the manager extra funds to make changes. Former Atalanta forward Hojlund scored just four Prem goals last season — ten in all competitions — and looked short of confidence by the end. Yet his stock remains high in Italy and Inter are looking to take him back to Serie A — although they are reluctant to stump up United's £38m asking price. 6 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW
