A newborn baby was found decapitated and dismembered in a rubbish bin by horrified workers - as police launch an urgent appeal for the mum.
The baby's remains were found in several plastic bags in a recycling centre in Madrid. A worker at the rubbish plant in Loeches was horrified to make the grim discovery.
Police in the city have launched "Operation Natal" in a bid to "get justice" for the infant. The little girl, according to the investigations, would have been born alive and decapitated, with her remains then dumped in rubbish bags.
The crime dates back to December 12 last year but tests have now revealed the terrible sequence of events. Dylan, a K-9 agent from the Central Cynological Service specialised in detecting biological remains, also participated in the investigations at the waste plant. The canine agent sniffed out several remains of the newborn in the area.
The agents followed the origin of the rubbish and concluded that it had arrived at the Loeches plant in several bags that were thrown that evening in December into a container in the area of the Vallecas neighbourhood, specifically the part of the district closest to the M-30, next to the Vallecas bridge.
DNA tests carried out on the corpse of the newborn have revealed that she was of Latin American or subtropical origin. That is, his mother would have been born in a South American country. Hence, the Civil Guard has asked for citizen collaboration in case any resident of Puente de Vallecas knew an immigrant woman who lived in the area and who had been pregnant during the last months of last year.
Investigators are convinced that the woman, who they estimate to be about 40 years old, was the author or co-author of the girl's crime.
"The investigations are still open, which is why citizen collaboration is requested for the total clarification of the criminal act. Anyone who could have any information of interest on the matter, contact the Civil Guard," said a spokesman.
"From the investigations carried out so far, it has been possible to determine that the remains would correspond to a female baby and that she was born alive, there are indications that would point to her death being of a violent nature."
