ACB conducts raids at check posts, RTA & sub-registrar offices
Hyderabad: Amid allegations of corruption in the various departments, the sleuths of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday, conducted surprise checks at Road Transport Authority (RTA) offices, check posts and sub-registrar offices across the state.
ACB conducted raids on Salabatpur RTA Check post, Kamareddy District and RTA offices of Peddapalli, Trimulgherry and Uppal. During the check an unaccounted amount of Rs 1,81,030 was seized and apart from that, several irregularities were observed.
Surprise checks were also conducted at Sub Registrar offices at Burgampadu of Khammam District and Bheemadevarapally of Warangal District. During the checks, an unaccounted amount of Rs 91,000 was seized. Several irregularities were noticed. Report will be sent to the Government for taking necessary action.
In a separate case, the ACB caught Battala Raj Kumar, an Accounts Officer and Kondra Ravi Kumar, a Computer Operator, both working in the office of Adilabad municipality, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 15,000 from the complainant for doing an official favor.

‘Manjummel Boys' fraud case: Soubin Shahir and co-producers granted anticipatory bail by Kerala High Court
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) The Kerala High Court on Thursday (June 26) granted actor-director Soubin Shahir , his father Babu Shahir, and co-producer Shaun Antony, anticipatory bail in the financial fraud case related to the hit Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys'. According to the Bar Bench website, the court ruled that custodial interrogation was not necessary at this stage and directed the accused to appear before the investigation team on July 7. Reportedly, the court also instructed that if any of the accused are taken into custody, they should be immediately released on bail. The decision comes after an earlier plea by the trio to quash the case was rejected by the court, prompting them to file for anticipatory bail. However, he claimed that despite receiving the money, the producers failed to deliver on the agreement. This led to what he described as a breach of trust and financial cheating. Following the complaint, the Maradu Police began an investigation as per the High Court's directive and submitted a report stating that the accused had conspired to defraud the complainant. According to police, while a sum of Rs 5.99 crore was later returned to the complainant, they still found sufficient grounds to register a case. Should not be treated like a standard criminal case Reportedly, the High Court, while granting bail, noted that the dispute appeared to be of a civil and commercial nature, and should not be treated like a standard criminal case. It also acknowledged that the accused had already responded to earlier summons and extended them protection from arrest until June 27.

The investigation began after Suresh reported his wife missing, coinciding with the discovery of an unidentified body. During the trial, Suresh's defence revealed his wife was alive. She appeared in court and was identified by family members. The judge found the police investigation suspicious, noting no prima facie evidence against Suresh. The court determined the investigation was deliberately fabricated rather than merely faulty, stating the evidence and documentation were intentionally manufactured. Recognising the misuse of justice, the Sessions court ordered the Mysuru Superintendent of Police to investigate the unknown body's case. In addition ,the Inspector General of Police (Mysuru Division) was directed to conduct departmental inquiry against Prakash and three colleagues from Bettadapura Police Station: Jitendra Kumar, Prakash M Yattinamani, and Mahesh BK.

Notice to former MLA Ramesh on removal from voter list
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: Revenue authorities in Vemulawada town on Thursday pasted notices at the residence of former MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh, a day after sending him a notice via registered post to Germany. This action comes in the wake of a Telangana High Court ruling affirming Ramesh's German citizenship. The notices direct Ramesh to submit his response by July 2, failing which his name is likely to be struck off the electoral rolls. RDO and Electoral Registration Officer RV Radha Bhai stated that the process for his removal from the voter list is underway. The high court, in its recent verdict, had also imposed a Rs 30 lakh penalty on Ramesh for allegedly misleading the court for 15 years about his citizenship status, ultimately declaring him a German national. It may be recalled that Ramesh had won the Vemulawada Assembly seat four times — first in 2009 on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket and later in three consecutive terms (2010, 2014, and 2018) as a BRS candidate, including a bypoll victory after switching parties.
