Sydney Sweeney to Star in "Split Fiction" Film Adaptation

Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a film adaptation of the hit video game '
Split Fiction
'.
Jon M. Chu is directing the movie from a script being written by 'Deadpool & Wolverine' screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
The adaptation will be produced by Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson's Story Kitchen (formerly dj2 Entertainment), which is taking out the talent package now to studios, and Chu's Electric Somewhere. Sweeney is set to executive produce.
From developer Hazelight Studios and publisher Electronic Arts, 'Split Fiction' blends fantasy and science fiction, following a pair of authors, Mio and Zoe, who become trapped in the worlds they wrote.
Written by director and Hazelight studio chief Josef Fares and Sebastian Johansson, 'Split Fiction' is a co-op adventure game that features gameplay mechanics involving split-screen combat, platforming challenges and differing abilities for each character.
Sources say it has yet to be decided which lead role Sweeney will be playing: Zoe or Mio.
Released on March 6, the game quickly became a hit with players and critics alike, receiving positive reviews and massive sales.
According to Hazelight, the game sold more than two million copies in the first week following its launch, and that number continues to rise at a rapid clip.
The 'Split Fiction' film was being developed and attracting top Hollywood studios for a bidding war, during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco in March.
The package is shepherded by Goldberg and Johnson's Story Kitchen, which is one of the hottest players in the video game-to-screen biz right now, with credits including the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' films, the 'Tomb Raider' franchise (with a new animated series that premiered on Netflix in October 2024), the upcoming 'Streets of Rage' adaptation set up at Lionsgate, as well as films based on 'It Takes Two' (from the game studio behind 'Split Fiction') and 'ToeJam & Earl' at Amazon MGM Studios.

Netflix to Stream Stranger Things Final Season in 3 Parts, Starting from Nov.
Rana Atef On Sunday, Netflix announced the release dates of "Stranger Things" final season. It's coming in three parts: the first debuting on November 26, the second on December 25, and the series finale on December 31. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the entire cast who appeared in the past two seasons are featured in the third. In addition, 'Terminator' star Linda Hamilton joined the cast. 'Stranger Things' Season 4 premiered back in summer 2022 in two parts, released separately in May and July. The episodes were over 60 minutes, and the final episode of Part 2 was more than two hours long. It ended with an all-out battle against the evil Vecna and the Demogorgons in the Upside Down. "What Lies Beneath" TV Series in Works
Yara Sameh Robert Zemeckis' 2000 supernatural horror thriller "What Lies Beneath," starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer, is heading to the small screen as the latest Hollywood blockbuster to be getting a TV adaptation. The synopsis for the movie reads: "It had been a year since Dr. Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford) betrayed his beautiful wife Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer). But with Claire oblivious to the truth, Norman's life and marriage seem so perfect that when Claire tells him of hearing mysterious voices and seeing a young woman's image in their home, he dismisses her terror as delusion. Claire moves closer to the truth and it becomes clear that this apparition will not be dismissed, and has come back for Dr. Spencer and his beautiful wife." Mark Johnson, who is well known for producing features like The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy, Rain Man, The Notebook and more, said the property as one of several projects being considered for TV adaptation. We're very excited about the idea of maybe doing a television show — I'm not sure I should say this but I'm going to — our movie What Lies Beneath, that could lend itself to a very good, perhaps limited, perhaps not, TV show," he told Deadline . Johnson has been part of the production team for some of AMC's biggest hits over the last two decades, and that doesn't seem about to change as he has recently penned a renewal of his first-look deal with AMC Studios. Currently, one of his biggest roles is overseeing the Anne Rice universe that has delivered "Interview With the Vampire" and "The Mayfair Witches", and even as he turns 80 this year, the producer has no plans to step away from making shows he loves.
