Patrik Antoni
as its next CEO.
Antoni, whose appointment will be effective from August 2025, will also work as Country Retail Manager & Chief Sustainability Manager (CSO), IKEA India said in a statement.
He will replace incumbent
Susanne Pulverer
, current Country Retail Manager & CSO, who has decided to leave her role at IKEA.
She was associated with IKEA for 28 years and has spent over eight years in India in three stints.
"Antoni will lead the company's ambitious growth plans in India, leveraging his 20-plus years of IKEA experience and deep knowledge of the total IKEA value chain. Live Events
Antoni has experience in India, including a 5-year stint as Deputy CEO, which will enable him to navigate the market's unique opportunities and challenges.
He was part of the initial IKEA India retail team that opened the first IKEA store in Hyderabad. In 2018, Patrik went on to be General Manager of IKEA Russia, where he led all of Ingka operations.
"I look forward to bringing my experience, energy, and deep commitment to IKEA's values to support our ambitious expansion plans, making IKEA even more accessible to the many people in India," he said.
IKEA is in the second phase of growth in India. It started its retail operation in India in 2018 by opening its first store at Hyderabad, followed by Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru, and several other as Delhi-NCR, in the execution pipelines.
Earlier this year, IKEA announced a shift in its India growth strategy, by also opting for smaller store sizes for its expansion in smaller growth cities here and making it accessible to many more people.
In February, IKEA started online sales in Delhi-NCR and nine other markets ahead of its upcoming physical stores in Gurugram and Noida.
It plans to open physical stores in Chennai and Pune in the next phase after having operational stores in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru and two more coming stores in Delhi-NCR in Gurugram and Noida at its under-construction 'Likly' centres.

Alexander Isak To Return To Newcastle United Training Camp Amid Transfer Saga: Report
Alexander Isak will rejoin Newcastle United's training after a solo stint at Real Sociedad. Newcastle rejected Liverpool's £110m bid, but Isak remains keen to leave. Alexander Isak is expected to return to the UK this week and rejoin Newcastle United's training setup following a solo stint at his former club Real Sociedad. The Swedish striker was working individually at the Zubieta training facility in the Basque Country but is now preparing to report back to Newcastle's base, as per reports from The Athletic. However, most of the first-team squad, along with manager Eddie Howe, are currently in Asia for the club's pre-season tour, which includes a high-profile friendly against Tottenham Hotspur in Seoul, South Korea. Newcastle Reject Liverpool's £110m Bid Isak's return coincides with a major development in his transfer saga. As first reported by The Athletic, Newcastle recently rejected a formal £110 million bid from Liverpool, who had expressed a strong interest in signing the 24-year-old this summer. The Merseyside club had initially made an informal approach earlier in July, suggesting they were prepared to go as high as £120 million, but stopped short of matching Newcastle's valuation, which is believed to be around £150 million. While Newcastle have made efforts to persuade Isak to stay — including offering him a new contract with a release clause effective from next summer — the striker's position has remained unchanged. Sources close to the club suggest Isak has made it clear for some time that he wishes to explore a move away from St James' Park. In a further indication of his intentions, Isak was excluded from the squad travelling to Asia for pre-season preparations. Instead, the forward opted to maintain his fitness privately in Spain, away from the spotlight, while continuing discussions around his future. Newcastle will return to the Champions League this season for the first time in two decades — a compelling prospect for most players, but one that may not be enough to keep Isak, who appears set on a move to a bigger European club. Newcastle have also attempted to lean on senior squad members to help sway Isak's decision, but to no avail so far. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Howe opens up on 'complex' situation after Newcastle reject Liverpool's £110m bid for Isak: ‘Situation far from ideal'
Eddie Howe added that Swedish striker Alexander Isak, the second-highest goal-scorer in the Premier League last season, still had Newcastle United's support despite expressing his desire to leave St James Park and join Arne Slot's side. read more Advertisement Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe insists Swedish striker Alexander Isak will be welcomed back at St James Park once he returns from his training trip in Spain. Reuters Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe insisted Alexander Isak had the support of the club despite the 'complex' situation surrounding his transfer after the Magpies rejected a £110 million ($146 million) bid from defending champions Liverpool for the Swedish striker. Isak had expressed his desire to leave St James Park and join Arne Slot's side , who had won their second Premier League title and their 20th English top-flight triumph overall earlier this summer. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD However, Newcastle, the team that had finished fifth last season, had valued Isak at £150 million ($199 million), and were not in the mood to negotiate over their star performer – who had finished as the second-highest goal scorer last season with 23 strikes. 'Signing players is always complex' Speaking to reporters at Seoul where the four-time English top-flight champions are set to face fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly, Howe insisted he wanted to see Isak continue wearing the club's colours – black and white for home games – despite the recent drama. 'I was made aware of a bid yesterday and that bid was turned down, all before I'd even heard about it. People back in England are dealing with the situation. I don't know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again,' former Bournemouth boss Hower, who had joined Newcastle in 2021, said. 'In terms of trying to upset players and all that kind of stuff, from my perspective, we can only talk about our conduct. We try to do things in the right way. Signing players is always complex. We just try to do what we think is right. I can't talk about other clubs, that's not for me to say,' he added. Howe added that he was aware of Isak training on his own in Spainafter being left out of the club's ongoing pre-season tour. 'I know where he is, really, through the media. From that perspective, it's difficult for me to go into any kind of detail. The situation is far from ideal and is quite complex,' he added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Isak, who had joined Newcastle from Spanish top-division club Real Sociedad on a £60 million move in 2022, is set to link up with the rest of the Newcastle squad once they're back from their Asian pre-season trip. The 25-year-old has been training with his personal team at his former club's training ground rather than with the Newcastle staff at their Benton training ground. And despite Liverpool not making a second bid for Isak after Newcastle's rejection, Isak's desire to join the Reds might get fulfilled later in the transfer window with the Magpies having expressed interest in signing Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko, who currently plays for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. Newcastle securing Sesko, who is also being targeted by Manchester United, for the 2025-26 season and beyond might allow them to part ways with Isak.

Car dispatches to dealers subdued ahead of festivals
The sluggishness in the car industry was evident as wholesale deliveries in July, ahead of the festive season of Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi, were muted. Top makers, such as Tata Motors , Hyundai, Toyota and Honda, reported a decline in dispatches (year-on-year), with Maruti reporting flat numbers. Mahindra and Kia saw growth in numbers, but the overall mood of the industry remains subdued. Industry officials spoke of challenges in generating demand as geopolitical tensions, fears from US tariffs and job cuts in the IT sector keep consumer sentiments low. Maruti, the country's largest carmaker, said while demand condition was tough, the company expected revival during the festive period. 'The overall industry is not growing… (and) it's not a good sign,' Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer (marketing & sales), said. He added that affordability, especially of entry-level cars, remains a challenge and during the festival, company expected to see 'green shoots' building up. Hyundai, which saw a 10% decline in domestic sales, said there was 'some softness' in demand in recent months. '… we remain optimistic with the onset of the festive season and are fully geared up with robust supply and product offerings,' Tarun Garg, director & COO, said. Car companies are planning new launches to kick up demand and attract customers. Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo launched the next-gen version of its top-seller XC60 SUV at Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom). MD Jyoti Malhotra said Volvo would consider bringing in plug-in hybrids to India if the tax structure gets conducive, and added that an FTA with the EU — on the lines of the India-UK trade deal — would help attract investments and new car models. The industry believes that while demand has been difficult so far, the festive season may see a turnaround. Companies are working on new model launches and offering discounts and incentives to push the numbers.
