
40 Himachali students studying in J&K being brought back safely: Kewal Singh Pathania
Among these students, 17 are from Kangra district, four from Mandi, five from Hamirpur, four from Sirmaur, one each from Kullu, Lahaul, and Una, two each from Bilaspur and Solan.
Pathania stated that these students reached Jammu by Saturday evening and will be transported to their respective destinations in Himachal Pradesh by Sunday morning.
He further mentioned that he had met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and urged him to ensure the safe return of students studying in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in Srinagar.
Pathania expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for understanding the concerns of parents who were anxious about their children's safety. He lauded the swift and effective steps taken by the state government to bring the students back safely.
'The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority for the state government,' Pathania emphasised, assuring that the government will take every possible measure in this regard.

Bangladesh Election Commission to publish nationwide draft of new polling centres by Sep 10
Dhaka, Aug 20 (UNI) The Bangladesh Election Commission will publish the draft list of polling centres nationwide on September 10, ahead of the country's national polls in 2026, reports Daily Star. The body will publish the final list of the polling centres on October 20, after objections or claims are accepted and resolved. The EC issued letters to district election officers today in this regard, signed by the EC's Deputy Secretary Md Mahbub Alam Shah. As part of its efforts to create a roadmap for the new national elections, the EC established a Polling Station Setup and Management Guidelines-2025, to ensure efficient and impartial administration of polls across various local government bodies, free of any outside influence. The list of polling centres for the national election must be preserved and finalised, and published in the special issue of the gazette at least 25 days before the election, with the deadline for submitting objections or claims regarding the draft being set for September 25, and the date for their settlement set as October 12.
