Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.
Why I love my L'Or Barista
The Pumpkin Spice capsules are my go-to in the fall, but the iced coffee capsules are my favorite during the summer months.
Macy Meyer/CNET
Every morning, I wake up giddy to make my coffee. The Onyx Espresso capsules are my consistent go-to when I make my favorite salted maple iced lattes, which are perfect for warm, summer mornings, but I'm also a huge fan of the iced coffee capsules. Since I've perfected my morning caffeine routine with the L'Or Barista, I no longer feel any need to buy coffee out. In fact, I prefer making my coffee and espresso drinks at home since I can use my machine to tailor them to my mood on that given morning.
I also love how quickly the machine heats up -- a flat 25 seconds to be exact. Nothing feels worse than waiting and waiting for a coffee machine to turn on, heat up and brew up a batch of java. Mere minutes can feel like an eternity when I'm exhausted and desperate for the energy that first cup of caffeine brings me.
What comes with the system?
The L'Or Barista is a single-serve machine that uses high-pressure brewing to make both coffee and espresso beverages at home. The system can brew six different sizes of hot or iced coffee, as well as espresso.
The sleek machine, which is compact enough to fit on a kitchen counter, is a highlight, but the capsules are also an exciting treat. Since you'll need to spend $79 or more for a free system, you can opt to taste a variety of capsule flavors. I've tried the caramel, hazelnut and Le Tigre coffee capsules and numerous espresso options -- it's genuinely hard to pick a favorite.

Why this makes a great gift
At its discounted price tag (usually $199), the L'Or Barista would be a great gift for any coffee connoisseur in your life. In fact, my mom tried mine, became obsessed, and would subtly bring it up until I finally bought her one for Christmas. The current sale would provide the perfect opportunity to get some key birthday or back-to-school shopping done (wink, wink).
Basically, this system comes with everything you need for a complete at home barista experience, while taking any hassle out of the process.

Kevin O'Leary Says All 54 Of His Small Businesses Are Using AI To Cut Costs, Stay Competitive Amid Tariffs
Kevin O'Leary, also known as "Mr Wonderful," says artificial intelligence is helping businesses like his fight inflation and survive margin pressure brought on by new tariffs. What Happened: In a video posted Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, the "Shark Tank" investor broke down how companies are coping with rising costs, citing General Motors (NYSE:GM) as an example of how businesses may navigate a 45% margin hit. "This may be the roadmap for every business," O'Leary said on Fox Business. One-third of the margin hit, they're going to eat themselves, so they're going to have to find ways to be more productive, he said. One-third, they're going to push out on price increases, which "I agree is inflationary." But the last third? That's where AI comes in. Trending: Be part of the breakthrough that could replace plastic as we know it— He emphasized that every one of the 54 small businesses in his private portfolio is now leveraging vertical applications of AI to reduce operational costs — whether in insurance, wireless charging, or other sectors. "We've never had tariffs before with an AI multiplier in it," he said. "This forces us to figure out a way to be more productive." Why It's Important: O'Leary's comments come as many companies grapple with rising tariffs and inflationary pressure, especially in sectors heavily exposed to global supply chains. His view reflects a growing consensus that artificial intelligence is not just a tech trend but a crucial tool for business survival and long-term productivity gains. Last week, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly urged employees to increase their use of AI to boost productivity, highlighting that the company must 'accomplish more' without expanding headcount. Earlier this month, Yahoo Japan also instructed its 11,000 employees to incorporate generative AI into their daily workflows, to double productivity through automation by 2028. AI-driven automation has also contributed to a surge in tech industry layoffs, impacting as many as 80,000 workers. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), for example, has laid off 15,000 employees while simultaneously allocating $80 billion toward AI development. Read next: $100k+ in investable assets? Finally, a humanoid robot that can do the laundry
Humanoid robots have come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years, but the grand promises of factories filled with bipedal bots performing meaningful tasks, or robotic home helpers doing mundane chores, somehow still feel a little distant. Enter Figure 02, a humanoid robot created by California-based Figure. In a video shared on Wednesday by Figure founder and CEO Brett Adcock, we see Figure 02 performing a chore that most folks would run a mile from if given half a chance: Doing the laundry. Recommended Videos The footage (below) shows Figure 02 grabbing garments from the basket and depositing them into the washer. It does it with ease and efficiency, and if it were at all human we might even say it does it with enthusiasm. But that's probably going a step too far. Here's a F.02 in my home, using Helix to do my laundry — Brett Adcock (@adcock_brett) July 30, 2025 Adcock's little kids look on with glee, probably thinking, 'This is awesome, by the time I'm an adult, there's no way on earth I'll be wasting time on this laborious nonsense.' And they may well be right. While Figure's robot might not be quite ready to make decisions on what wash cycle to select, which buttons to press, and what underwear to trash because it's just too far gone, the ability to competently take such steps can't be too far off. Figure's CEO notes in another post that the robot's actions are not teleoperated and that it's powered by Helix, Figure's bespoke AI model. Truth be told, Figure 02 isn't the only humanoid robot that looks handy around the house. 1X Technologies, for example, is developing the Neo Gamma robot, a humanoid home assistant capable of human-like movements and object manipulation, as well as advanced conversation, and which is geared specifically toward household tasks and companionship. Figure's robot, on the other hand, is currently being pitched more toward industrial work than home help. While the company is set to begin testing Figure 02 in home settings this year, its main focus for the 5-foot-6-inch robot is currently on industrial applications. Adcock's company is targeting environments such as auto manufacturing plants and has even collaborated with BMW, sending the robot into its South Carolina facility for a trial performing various tasks on the work floor. So, while the home use case is certainly on Figure's roadmap, for now it's sticking with structured, safer environments before considering any kind of consumer adoption. Still, if it can already fill a washer with ease, think what it'll be able to do around the home in just a few years from now …
