Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe reveals he already has a rival in the NBA

USA Todaya day ago
Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe is looking to make an impact in the league as the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. He is joining a Sixers team looking to up the tempo in the 2025-26 season led by the handful of younger guards on the roster.
As Edgecombe prepares to enter the NBA, he will be joining a Sixers team that does have championship expectations as long as Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey are healthy. Edgecombe can make an impact on this roster with his athleticism, high basketball IQ, and ability to make big plays on the defensive end. He showed a glimpse of that in the summer league.
With that being said, it appears Edgecombe already has a rival in the form of Indiana Pacers forward Bennedict Mathurin as he stated on "Podcast P with Paul George":
I was at Euro camp, I won MVP. After all that, Bennedict Mathuring gonna come up to me talking about when you get to league I'm gonna bust ya ass. I'm like alright bro…He didn't even say what's up. He's like yeah I'm a bust ya ass. I'm like damn, where the love at?
Edgecombe will look to make an impact in the NBA right away. While he may not start just yet under coach Nick Nurse, he will certainly get a look in the rotation as he brings a lot of skills the Sixers need at this point in time.

Best of Jayson Tatum with the Boston Celtics in 2024-25

We may not get to see star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum on a basketball court for his team again until the start of the NBA's 2026-27 regular season. The St. Louis native tore his Achilles tendon playing the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals second round series that would Boston's last in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Fans of Tatum and the Celtics will likely grow restless waiting for his return to the team, but the folks behind the official Celtics YouTube channel put together a clip of the best of the Duke alum's plays from the 2024-25 season to keep us all occupied while we wait for Tatum to get back to being himself. We might have a shot at seeing him back late in 2025-26, but in the likely case he elects to wait until the following season to return to the court, check out the clip embedded below for your Taco Jay fix in the meantime. Former NBA Star's Pregnant Wife Bitten By Shark In Puerto Rico: 'Worst Day Of My Life'

Eleonora Boi, the wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari, revealed she survived a shark attack while pregnant. The Italy native, who is currently expecting her third child with the athlete, was bitten by a shark while swimming at a beach in Puerto Rico, where her husband currently plays. "It was the worst day of my life, maybe my grandmother Nella was right when she said 'on the seas you traitors,'" she wrote in a translated Instagram post on Aug. 1 alongside a photo of herself wearing a hospital gown. "I never thought I could get attacked by a shark and I was near the shore and on a super crowded beach. Thankfully me and my baby are fine, I was rushed to the rescue and the surgery to fix my poor bruised leg, [it] went well," she added. Eleonora's post comes one day after the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources in Puerto Rico announced the incident to the public, although it didn't disclose the identity of the woman at the time.
