Solo Sikoa is the new United States Championship after a chaos-filled win over Jacob Fatu at WWE Night of Champions 2025.
In a United States Championship match pitting two former members of The Bloodline against one another, it was Fatu who appeared destined to stand tall. Until he didn't. 'The Samoan Werewolf' couldn't overcome a trio of interferences, including the debut of former NJPW star Hikuleo, and lost the United States Championship, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,
Although WWE Night of Champions had previously been portrayed as a night where all WWE titles were defended, Fatu's US Championship was ironically one of just two championships defended on the show. Perhaps more importantly, however, Fatu vs. Sikoa was the culmination of Fatu's ascension from heel role player to fan favorite megastar.
Then, Hikuleo showed up and ruined the party.
WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results For Jacob Fatu vs. Solo Sikoa
Sikoa's victory over Fatu a at WWE Night of Champions 2025 wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for a pair of shockers. First, Tonga Loa showed up after being out of action for more than half a year. Then, the debuting Hikuleo appeared in Riyadh with a major assist as he became the newest member of Sikoa's version of The Bloodline.
At WWE Backlash 2025, Fatu pinned LA Knight in a star-studded Fatal 4-Way match in which the Samoan powerhouse also had to overcome Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. When combined with his US title victory over Knight at WrestleMania 41 in April, Fatu had racked up an impressive pay-per-view winning streak seemingly set the stage for a lengthy US Championship reign.
Instead, Fatu lost to Sikoa in a shocking upset thanks to the numbers game advantage for Sikoa's crew. Among the key highlights of Fatu's successful United States Championship defense were:
WWE is clearly strapping the proverbial rocket to Fatu, who has been positioned as arguably SmackDown's fastest-rising stars, especially in the absence of stars like McIntyre and Roman Reigns. With the blue brand boasting a relatively thin midcard, Fatu seemed destined to hold US title for an extended run after his victory at WWE Night of Champions.
Fatu's Night of Champions loss, however, was instead a way to keep him looking strong while also ensuring that Sikoa can regain his momentum as a midcard heel.
WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results And Reaction To Solo Sikoa Victory
Fatu's unsuccessful night at WWE Night of Champions isn't as bad it sounds. Why? Well, a lengthy United States Championship reign may have actually held him back.
As noted, SmackDown is currently without Reigns and McIntyre, meaning that the blue brand is sorely lacking in the main event scene. Sikoa's version of The Bloodline is clearly a midcard faction, but the fact that it took four superstars to defeat Fatu shows just how much WWE wants to protect Fatu with its booking.
Had Fatu lost cleanly, WWE fans would have a reason to be concerned about his push. Yet, that didn't happen, of course.
Hikuleo's debut, Loa's return and Mateo's interference were all necessary for Fatu to lost his WWE United States Championship after just two months. That, however, may be a blessing in disguise that allows Fatu to rise up the ranks on SmackDown even quicker than expected.
Fatu's feud with Sikoa is far from over after his loss at WWE Night of Champions 2025, but once he puts The Bloodline in his rearview mirror within a few months, expect him to compete for world titles instead of midcard ones.

Man City XI vs Al-Hilal: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and injury latest for Club World Cup
Manchester City face Al-Hilal on Monday night with a spot in the Club World Cup quarter-finals up for grabs, but Pep Guardiola could decide to rest some key players with one eye on games to come. With the Spaniard bemoaning the impact the competition - which began just three weeks after the end of the Premier League campaign - might have on his team's fitness heading into next season, rotation may be rife in the Sky Blues' squad when they line up against Simone Inzaghi's Saudi Pro League side in the Orlando heat. Advertisement City's last outing, a 5-2 humbling of Juventus, saw Rodri return to the starting line-up ten months after suffering an ACL injury. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner lasted just over an hour before making way for İlkay Gundoğan, who could replace him in the XI this time around if Rodri is deemed unready to start two games in under a week. City's other alternatives at the base of the midfield include the likes of Tijjani Reijnders - who started and played 90 minutes in the first and third games of the group stage but missed the one in between - and Nico González. Omar Marmoush led the line against Juventus but was replaced at half-time by Erling Haaland, who scored and should reclaim his starting spot as he did against Al Ain after being benched for the Group G opener versus Wydad Casablanca. Jeremy Doku and Savinho were the two wide men of choice last Thursday and both found the back of the net, while Phil Foden also made it onto the score sheet having replaced Doku in the second half. Advertisement After his full run-out against Bianconeri, Savinho is probably the likeliest winger to drop to the bench against Al-Hilal. That could see Foden come back into City's XI, while new signing Rayan Cherki will hope to be handed his second start of the tournament following a second-half cameo against Juve. At the back, Rico Lewis - who was sent off at the start of the group stage and subsequently handed an extra two-game ban - will serve the final match of his suspension on Monday, meaning Matheus Nunes should continue at right-back if the ever-tinkering Guardiola opts again for a four-at-the-back system. Ex-Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri may be handed a breather, with Josko Gvardiol ready to step in after being an unused substitute in the final group stage game, and in central defence, Nathan Ake could then slot in alongside Rúben Dias, replacing Manuel Akanji. Dias may himself be deputised by Vitor Reis or Abdukodir Khusanov, although Guardiola might be hesitant to swap out too many of those who starred against Juventus given Al-Hilal are also unbeaten so far at the 2025 Club World Cup, including a spirited draw against Real Madrid. Advertisement City youngster Claudio Echeverri is expected to miss the rest of the tournament with the injury he picked up on matchday two, but no new injury concerns have been reported. The winner of this tie will play either Inter Milan or Fluminense, who face each other earlier on Monday evening, at the next stage. Predicted Man City XI: Ederson, Nunes, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol, Gonzalez, Gundoğan, Foden, Cherki, Doku, Haaland Time and date: 2am BST on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 Venue: Camping World Stadium, Orlando TV Channel: DAZN or Channel 5 (UK)

Manchester United submit surprise offer to land Ivan Toney from Al-Ahli
Manchester United have made an offer for Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney, as per reports. United have been trying to find an agreement with Brentford over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo since early June, but the Bees have proven to be tricky negotiators. Advertisement The London outfit have turned down two bids from United, as they aim to exceed the figure Wolverhampton Wanderers got for Matheus Cunha. The Red Devils triggered a £62.5 million release clause to sign the Brazilian from Wolves. According to Fichajes, Brentford's reluctance to part ways with Mbeumo and their exorbitant demands have pushed United towards their former player. It is claimed the Mancunians are exploring the possibility of signing Toney from Al-Ahli this summer. The 29-year-old moved to Saudi Arabia from Brentford in a deal worth around £40m last summer. He has been a prolific figure in Saudi, scoring 30 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions. Advertisement He led the side to AFC Champions League Elite title and even earned an England call-up under Thomas Tuchel recently. Now, Toney has attracted United's interest. The Spanish outlet suggest the Premier League giants have tabled a €35 million offer, including bonuses for Toney. United are understood to be huge admirers of the England international's physicality and goalscoring instincts and there is a belief that he could effectively lead their line. Initial contacts have allegedly already taken place between United and Al-Ahli, with the player open to returning to the Premier League. It is reported that the club's hierarchy are optimistic about finalising his signing 'in the coming days.' Advertisement Toney is certainly a top striker but he should not be viewed as Mbeumo's alternative, as Ruben Amorim wants to sign the Brentford right-winger to play as one of the two number 10s in his 3-4-3 formation.
