Riyadh to host WWE SmackDown in June
RIYADH: Riyadh is gearing up to host two World Wrestling Entertainment events at the Kingdom Arena: its first-ever SmackDown on June 27, and Night of Champions the following day. For the latest updates, follow us @ArabNewsSport The events are being organized jointly by Riyadh Season and WWE, and are sponsored by the Esports World Cup. Wrestling fans will be eagerly anticipating the events with the confirmed appearance of global icon John Cena. SmackDown will feature a star-studded lineup including Cody Rhodes, Omos, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair, in a show to be broadcast live on USA Network in the US. Night of Champions will stream exclusively on Peacock in the US, while fans in Saudi Arabia and most international markets can watch both events live on Netflix, as part of WWE's new partnership with the platform. Tickets are now available for purchase through the Webook platform. Both events mark major highlights of Riyadh Season, which was launched in 2019 and has rapidly grown to become one of the largest entertainment festivals in the world, attracting millions of visitors to premier sports, entertainment, and music events.

RIYADH: World Wrestling Entertainment, in collaboration with Riyadh Season, will host the Night of Champions event at the Kingdom Arena, part of the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to creating international entertainment, the Saudi Press Agency has reported. The SmackDown show will take place on Friday, June 27. The event will be exclusively live on Peacock in the US but will also be available on Netflix and other outlets for people in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier tonight on Backlash, WWE aired a commercial for the upcoming Night of Champions premium live event in Saudi Arabia on June 28. You can check out that advertisement in the embedded video below: While this typically isn't a surprise, CM Punk being featured in the commercial was. Advertisement Punk has been very outspoken in recent years about WWE's relationship with Saudi Arabia and claimed he would never do an event there. One of the most infamous instances of Punk's disdain for WWE's relationship with Saudi Arabia came back in 2020 when he took shots at The Miz for taking part in these events.
