Andhra Pradesh govt inks tourism project deals worth ₹500 crore
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Corporation inked these deals with Ease My Trip, Hilton Hotels and others for tourism projects at various locations.
"These agreements have been inked in the presence of the CM to set up tourism projects at various places in the state. Ease my Trip, Hilton Hotels and several other organisations inked deals worth ₹500 crore with Andhra Pradesh Tourism Corporation," said an official press release.
Besides building hotels, these deals are also aimed at setting up facilities for adventure sports, kayaking, jet skiing and others at Gandikota, Srisailam, Mantralayam, Tirupati and other places.
Naidu virtually laid the foundation for a string of tourism projects at Gandikota, Borra Caves, Ahobilam, Nagarjuna Sagar and others under Central Government schemes such as Swadesh Darshan and SASKY.
CM gave a call to investors to make use of a plethora of opportunities under the state's tourism policy, adding that tourism projects are being accorded infrastructure status.
"There are ample opportunities in the state for eco-tourism, adventure, cruise, wellness, caravan, golf, heritage and temple tourism projects," said Naidu.
According to the CM, Visakhapatnam, Araku Valley, Rajamahendravaram, Amaravati, Srisailam and Gandikota will be developed as seven anchor hubs.
Likewise, he said 25 thematic circuits were also announced, among other initiatives, adding that eight state-level tourism events will be held, along with district-wise programmes.
Further, Naidu announced the formulation of a master plan for the development of Gandikota as a prominent tourist destination.
Highlighting Gandikota's natural beauty, he noted that it has earned fame to be recognised the 'Grand Canyon of India'.
Laying the foundation stone for a tourism development project under the SASKY scheme with an estimated cost of ₹78 crore, he stated that the government has concrete plans to transform Gandikota into a world-class tourism destination, including the construction of luxury hotels to accommodate visitors.
Moreover, he noted that the state is working toward the development of 50,000 hotel rooms across various tourist hotspots, among several other initiatives.

Jammalamadugu: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reiterated his commitment to transforming Rayalaseema into a hub of prosperity. Speaking at Praja Vedika event in Jammalamadugu, YSR Kadapa district, the Chief Minister said the government is fast-tracking projects like Handri-Neeva, which will provide irrigationto six lakh acres and drinking water to 33 lakh people in four districts of Rayalaseema. He announced that Jindal Group has come forward to establish the Kadapa Steel Plant, with work beginning in two phases at a total cost of Rs 16,350 crore. 'This project will be operational by 2029 and will bring development to Jammalamadugu and surrounding areas,' he stated. The Chief Minister also announced plans to develop Gandikota as a major tourist destination with a central government grant of Rs 80 crore under the PRASHAD scheme. 'We will make Gandikota, with its beautiful canyons, even more attractive and install a 100-foot-tall statue of Sri Krishnadevaraya,' he said, adding that connecting Gandikota, Ontimitta, and the Kadapa Fort will boost tourism in the region. He then announced that the government will deposit money under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme on Saturday. Each farmer will receive Rs 7,000 in the first installment, with the state's share being Rs 5,000 and the central government contributing Rs 2,000.

Turkey, a long-time favourite among Indian travellers, has witnessed a significant decline in tourist arrivals from India this year. The latest data from Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism reveals a sharp drop in Indian visitor numbers in June 2025. This downturn appears to reflect recent shifts in public sentiment and travel choices, even as the country remains a popular destination for global tourists. According to official data, only 24,250 Indian tourists visited Turkey in June 2025, a 36% drop compared to 38,307 visitors in June 2024. This decline follows a similar downward trend observed in May 2025. Data for this month shows that arrivals were down 24% year-on-year, with 31,659 Indians travelling to Turkey in May. The broader picture for the first half of 2025 (January to June) also shows a decline. A total of 139,215 Indian tourists visited during this period. This is a 15% reduction from 164,373 in the same time period last year. Indian travellers still make up only a small portion of Turkey 's overall tourist base (they account for around 0.6% of all international arrivals). The country had seen growing interest from India in previous years, especially after the launch of direct flight connections. The sudden reversal in travel numbers indicates a marked shift in preference. In April-May 2025, the events of the Pahalgam terror attack and the India-Pakistan conflict impacted Indians' travel decisions in several ways, which included calls to boycott Turkey as a tourist destination. Popular travel portals like MakeMyTrip, EaseMyTrip and Cleartrip voiced their support for this decision. Some of them later also reported notable drops in Turkey bookings on their respective sites.
