Strict compliance with RERA provisions crucial to restoring trust in housing sector: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on state governments to ensure the mandatory registration of all eligible real estate projects under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA). He emphasized that strict adherence to RERA provisions is essential to rebuilding homebuyer confidence and restoring trust in the housing sector.
PM Modi, during a PRAGATI meeting on May 28, emphasized the importance of strict adherence to Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) provisions to restore trust in the housing sector. He highlighted the need to enhance the quality and timeliness of grievance redressal to ensure justice and fairness for homebuyers.
The remarks came as Modi reviewed three major infrastructure projects worth over ₹62,000 crore under the PRAGATI initiative—an ICT-based multi-modal platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation.
According to an official statement, the projects span the road transport, power, and water resources sectors across various states and union territories.
During a review of public grievances linked to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), Modi emphasised the need to improve the quality and timeliness of grievance disposal to ensure justice and fairness for homebuyers.

He asked state governments to ensure the mandatory registration of all eligible real estate projects under the RERA Act. Strict compliance with RERA provisions is critical for restoring trust in the housing market, he said.
PM Modi highlighted that project delays not only lead to cost overruns but also deprive citizens of essential infrastructure and services.
Emphasising the strategic importance of these projects, he called for concerted efforts to overcome implementation of bottlenecks and ensure their timely completion.
He urged all stakeholders to prioritise efficiency and accountability, stressing that timely delivery is critical to maximising socio-economic outcomes. In the PRAGATI meetings held so far, 373 projects worth around ₹20.64 lakh crore have been reviewed, the statement said.

Katra: To make the vision of "Kashmir to Kanyakumari" come alive, the project team behind the construction of the Chenab bridge faced several challenges. Among them was how to reach the location surrounded by the steep slopes of the Himalayas. The team had only one option -- horses and mules. According to Afcons Infrastructure Limited, the top infrastructure company that constructed the bridge, one of the main and earliest challenges was access to the bridge location, to transport equipment and construction materials. "Initially, mules and horses were used by the project team to reach the location. Slowly over a period, temporary roads were created and access was made available to the site," a spokesperson from the company said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the iconic Chenab Bridge, Anji Rail Bridge and Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project and flagged off Vande Bharat trains, connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The spokesperson added that eventually on the North side of the river bank, an 11-km road was constructed and a 12-km long road on the South side. Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Executive Vice Chairman, Afcons, said the Chenab Railway Bridge is more than just a marvel of engineering. "It is a symbol of India's resolve to conquer the most formidable challenges with ingenuity and courage," Subramanian told PTI. The company used the world's tallest crossbar cable cranes and specialised heavy machinery as tools for this ambitious project. "The ancient and steep slopes of the Himalayas were tamed using massive consolidation grouting, making them sturdy for the colossal arch foundations," the company said, highlighting challenges it faced. "With the foundations set, the erection of the arch from both sides was planned by cantilever construction technique. The first big moment of triumph came on April 5, 2021, when a single majestic arch approaching steadily from both banks met at the crown," it added. "The viaduct construction was another unique challenge. There were multiple transition areas. Keeping this in mind, the launching sequence was meticulously planned in four sections," the spokesperson. Giridhar Rajagopalan, Deputy Managing Director, Afcons told PTI that for the first time in Indian Railways, incremental launching was done on transition curve and a longitudinal gradient, both occurring at same location, for the deck launching of the viaduct portion of the Chenab Bridge. S Paramasivan, Managing Director, Afcons, "For Afcons, it represents our unwavering commitment to nation-building and our ability to reimagine infrastructure in the toughest terrains. This bridge will inspire generations of engineers and stands as a tribute to the power of Indian engineering and teamwork." For the first time in the Indian Railways' history, a laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration (NABL) was set up to ensure that quality was being monitored at every stage of the project. Situated at a height of 359 metres above the river, the Chenab bridge is 35 metres higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab river. After inaugurating the Chenab bridge, the prime minister walked on it holding the Tricolour high. He travelled in a rail engine coach to reach the spot.

Deputy CM lays stone for residential township in city
Patna: Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Thursday laid the foundation stone for 'Bonus Capital Heights', a residential township coming up in Khagaul area of the state capital. Touted as state's tallest residential project, this township marks a significant milestone in the state's urban development. Spread over 14 acres, Bonus Capital Heights is being developed by real estate company Venus Star Construction Pvt Ltd. The project comprises 10 high-rise towers with around 1,100 flats, and it has received approval from the Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Designed to strike a balance between urban living and environmental sustainability, the township will feature approximately 85% open and green spaces, said an official of the firm. The architectural design for the township has been prepared by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor. Vastu consultancy for the project is being provided by 'The Vedic Vision', he added. The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by several senior ministers, former Lok Sabha MP Shahnawaz Hussain, senior govt officials and representatives from Venus Star Construction Pvt Ltd, including its managing director Sanjay Kumar Singh, CEO Vinay Pruthi and COO Rishi Choudhary. According to the company, the project is slated to be completed before Jan 2030. Venus Star, has previously completed residential projects such as Landmark Gold, Venus Paradise and Venus Empire in the state capital. Katra (J&K), June 6 (UNI) Asserting that the hilly region of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir has lot many assets that are contributing in fulfilling the dream of 'Viksit Bharat', Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday said that the deposits of huge quantity lithium found in this belt will play a major role in achieving PM Modi's net-zero carbon emissions target by 2070. 'Just few kilometres away from the place we are sitting right now in Reasi, lithium mineral was found in a huge quantity and I am sure whenever it will comes into use, this region will contribute and pave the way for achieving PM Modi's target of net-zero emission by 2070,' Dr Singh said addressing a huge gathering here at the Sports Stadium. PM Modi after dedicating Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail-Link (USBRL) to the nation by flagging of Vande Bharat on Katra-Srinagar rail link and inaugurating world's highest train bridge on Chenab in Reasi here addressed a public gathering. He further said that in the tenure of PM Modi, two Vande Bharat trains started operating between Delhi-Katra, it is in his term, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Corridor started and it is in his term, civilian flights will operate from Udhampur airport. 'We witnessed that our forefathers never saw much transport in the hilly belts but these mountains now have a network of roads and rail tracks,' said the Union Minister. 'These are the same mountains that once heard bullets of terrorists and now have been replaced with train horns,' he added.
