'I wore Oodie's new pyjamas for a fortnight and I'm desperate to buy more'

Daily Record05-05-2025

"They're genuinely astonishing and I'm already eyeing up a second pair."
The cold winter months might be over, but you never can tell in Scotland. For all that we've just had the warmest April on record in the UK and we are looking ahead to summer, that doesn't mean there aren't cold nights to come.
When we get a bit chilly in the evenings, there's nothing quite like sticking on a toasty pair of pyjamas and relaxing on the couch before heading to bed. But what about when you get there?
Big, fluffy PJs can make things hot and sweaty in the bedroom - and not in a good way. So you're left either feeling the chill with a lighter pair, or waking up in the morning drenched.
But that tricky dilemma may not be an issue for much longer, thanks to Oodie. The loungewear brand became a huge name after lockdown, when their oversized fluffy hooded blankets were a staple for keeping warm in households across the country.
The Aussie brand has diversified over the years and has recently launched a line of pyjamas, some to ensure you stay nice and warm and others to keep you cool. Alongside this, they currently have a competition running to try and win a free pair and an introductory 20 per cent off deal for those buying two items.
Self-confessed Oodie superfan Narin Flanders was straight in there to pick up both cooling and warming sets, with one being "the real star of the show". She was so impressed that she is "already plotting to buy more".
Writing for our sister title The Mirror, Narin said: "Having worn them every night over a couple of weeks and seen how well they wash along the way I think they have the potential to be one of my favourite items in Oodie's entire range.
"Coinciding perfectly with UK weather hitting that troublesome point in spring where you never know whether you're going to be kicking the covers off as it's too warm or arguing with your other half about needing to put a quick heating boost on to take the edge off the chill of the room, Oodie's newest launch offers both heating and cooling options that aim to regulate your body temperature while you sleep.
"There are five different prints available, with each coming in a range of styles as well as hot and cold versions. Buyers can pick a new version of Oodie's ever-popular pale blue cloud print, alongside a Love Heart inspired candy, a bright tie dye, a confetti print on a black background and a purple check. Each style comes in short-sleeve pyjama tops, long-sleeve pyjama tops, shorts and cuffed or wide leg trousers, making for the ultimate mix and match loungewear.
"But it's not just down to whether garments have long or short arms and legs that helps shoppers regulate their temperatures. You wouldn't imagine pyjamas could ever be particularly high-tech but this is no-pseudo scientific mumbo-jumbo, Oodie has put a lot of thought into the fabrics they use for these new styles and how they work with the human body to make sure the people wearing them feel comfortable."
Oodie's new cooling range is made from a modal blend fibre produced by spinning beech trees and is known to be one of the softest fabrics on earth. This makes the lightweight pyjamas 21 per cent more breathable than regular cotton PJs.
The warming versions are crafted from a brushed bamboo blend that is said to offer more than double the heat power of normal pyjamas. Odour-resistant and 85 per cent better than cotton at keeping sweat away, these are designed to stop you waking up wet and sticky.
Narin said: "Thanks to the changeable weather, I have tried both over the last few weeks, having opted for the purple check version of the range, both in long-sleeve and long-leg versions."
She said that the large bubble branding of 'Oodie Sleep Club' across the front "isn't subtle" and wouldn't have been her design choice - though the colour and style is a bit of her. Narin was also delighted to be able to go for wide-legged trousers, as she finds cuffed ankles "too constricting" while sleeping.
Narin continued: "The cooling PJs are perfect for anyone who wants the comfort of Oodie's sleep tees but with a slightly more flattering shape. I'm intrigued to see whether they are more cooling than the brand's previous bamboo option - I'm looking forward to the UK weather improving so I can fully test it.
Fashion deal of the week
Ahead of the summer season, Urban Outfitters has just knocked £20 off a popular dress - and it's perfect for weddings.
The high street retailer's Light Before Dark Bex Printed Midi Slip Dress has rave reviews from shoppers who say it is "flattering in all the right ways". Usually retailing at £62, shoppers can bag it ahead of the warm spell for just £42.
The midi-length dress boasts a few "romantic" details that make it perfect for wearing to fancy functions you have planned. This includes the all-over rose print and delicate lace detailing that both add a touch of femininity.
With its slip-style silhouette, lightweight material and shoulder straps, it is the ultimate breathable and breezy layer for the summer season. A classy v-neckline, cut-out back detail, side zip fastening and rear button fastenings complete the design.
Designed in a baby pink colourway, the Printed Midi Slip Dress will suit pretty much all skin tones and shades. It's also still available in quite a few sizes, with XXS to XL available on the Urban Outfitters website.
The dress averages a 4.3 rating on the Urban Outfitters website, and one glowing review read: " This dress is so gorgeous on! Definitely hugs your figure soooo nicely."
A second delighted shopper wrote in their review: "Fits really well, perfect for summer wedding."
"But for me, the real star of the show is the warming PJs. I get really cold in bed at times but find I can overheat in synthetic, super-fluffy pyjamas. These pyjamas don't look like you've made yourself an outfit from plush children's toys, but while the fabric is thin, it is incredibly soft and cosy without being bulky. Even my husband, who never notices such things, commented on how soft the pyjamas felt when I brushed past him."
Narin labelled the warming PJs "genuinely astonishing" and admitted that, despite the weather getting better she's "already eyeing up a second pair of trousers". She is considering a different print to match with other PJs she currently owns, adding: "The fact the tops, trousers and shorts are all bought separately makes this easily done, with prices starting from £35 per item."
Narin concluded: "While this does feel pricey for a pair of PJs, as any bargain hunters know, Oodie is always good for a deal or discount so it's always worth keeping an eye on their sales. Currently they're offering 20 per cent off when shoppers buy two pieces of the temperature regulating range, meaning effectively shoppers can save up to £15.60 on the total price of a pair. Elsewhere, their launch competition is also still live for shoppers who want to try and win a pair of the pyjamas."
So if you've been convinced by Narin's experience with Oodie's PJs and want to try them for yourself, click HERE to shop the new range.

Inside story of Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham sacking with Daniel Levy rift that worsened during Europa League run

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SO, Daniel Levy did kill off his main character in the second season finale of the Ange Postecoglou show. Postecoglou himself warned that could be the case just a day after teasing fans at Spurs' Europa League-winning parade that he could stay on for a third campaign with a prestige-telly analogy. It went down a storm, with many of those who had wanted the Aussie out for the woeful league form now fully behind him after he had ended the club's 17-year trophy drought. Their hope had been that Levy would perform a similarly emotional U-turn, and NOT go through with his pre-final plan of wielding the axe whatever the outcome in Bilbao. How can he possibly ditch the guy who has delivered our first piece of silverware since the League Cup in 2008, and the first European trophy in 41 years, they asked themselves. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL NOW WE'RE BOTH POSH! David Beckham to be awarded knighthood after string of near misses In fairness, Levy did pause for thought, albeit briefly. But Postecoglou always knew the chances of the long-serving Spurs supremo doing an about-face were slim, given how their relationship had frayed in the previous months. So it will have come as no surprise to the former Celtic treble-winner - even if it did to millions of Tottenham fans across the globe. Levy turned to Postecoglou in the summer of 2023, after being snubbed by Arne Slot who had decided to stay at Feyenoord for one more season ahead of his switch to Liverpool. JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS Postecoglou even described himself as 'the last man standing' in the race to succeed Antonio Conte. But the Athens-born Aussie, who had never previously managed in Europe's top five major leagues before, got off to a stunning start by taking 26 points from his first 30 available. That was despite the club selling their record goal-scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich on the eve of the season. After an unbeaten first ten Prem games, Spurs were five points clear at the top of the table and anything seemed possible under Postecoglou. Fans took to singing a version of Robbie Williams' Angels regularly after matches, with the key lyrics altered to 'I'm loving Big Ange instead'. Levy seemed giddy with excitement too, proudly declaring at a fans' forum in September 2023 that 'we've got our Tottenham back' in reference to Postecoglou's thrilling style of play. 6 Daniel Levy has wielded his axe again Credit: GETTY 6 Fans and players appeared with him after the Europa League success Credit: Getty But then came THAT 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea in November 2023 - the bonkers game Postecoglou may be best remembered for, even more so than the Europa final win over Manchester United. Having had two men sent off and having lost James Maddison and Micky van de Ven to serious injuries, Spurs, amazingly, continued to attack and almost nicked a 2-2 draw. But then Nicolas Jackson completed what was dubbed the worst hat-trick ever in injury-time - before Spurs were treated to a standing ovation by their fans as they left the pitch. It was unprecedented - yet after that game, things were never the same. Teams started to wise up to Spurs' style of inverted full-backs and clever cut-backs - as well as exposing the gaps they left at the back. Eric Dier, who left to join Kane at Bayern Munich in January, later claimed that Postecoglou 'really doesn't do barely any tactical work, what he does is every single training drill from Monday to Friday is drawn up to represent the way he wants to play.' Van de Ven and Maddison being sidelined disrupted the team's rhythm and they ended up being pipped by Aston Villa to fourth spot and Champions League qualification. Injuries decimated Postecoglou's squad in his second season - with the Aussie's intense pressing style accused of being a contributing factor - and the league campaign began to unravel. Raw teenage talent had mainly been added in the summer - although £65million was spent on striker Dominic Solanke - and it told. Postecoglou hoped for more experience to be added in January but out of the three arrivals, only Kevin Danso fitted that description. Spurs went on to finish 17th after losing 22 league games - the most a Prem team has ever managed and NOT been relegated - including embarrassing defeats to Ipswich and Leicester who both went down. The AngeOut army grew among the fanbase, who had been irked by his misreading the previous season of their desire to lose against Manchester City to deny rivals Arsenal the title. In another clash, Postecoglou mockingly cupped his ear in the direction of Spurs away fans at Chelsea in April. 6 Postecoglou appeared to cup his ears at fans against Chelsea Credit: Getty But all was forgiven when he ended the trophy curse in Bilbao. Ironically, it was done in a defensive style akin to predecessor Jose Mourinho, with the team having just 27 per cent possession and completing just 184 passes. It was more Ange Wall than Ange Ball, which suggested Postecoglou was capable of adapting when many pundits suggested he could not. That feat was not enough though to convince the higher-ups, who had not agreed with Postecoglou's decision to prioritise the Europa League from February onwards. It is understood the club began talking to representatives of other managers from the start of the year, underlining the shaky ground Postecoglou has been on for some time. Now it has collapsed from underneath him, to his disappointment as he felt the job in N17 was not done. But at least he walks away a hero, having finally changed the narrative to one of rare trophy success during the silverware-starved Levy story of the last 25 years.

Love Island star's secret link to former Islander and mum's unlikely job

EXCLUSIVE: Love Island 2025 star Blu Chegini has raised eyebrows with his incredibly honest and open attitude towards sex - and it turns out it's all thanks to his mum's very unusual job Incoming Love Island star Blu Chegini is already turning heads ahead of the show's explosive return on Monday, June 9 for its 12th series, but it's not just his piercing eyes or his shredded physique that have people talking. The 20-year-old, who hails from London and is a construction project manager, is packing a past that's guaranteed to raise eyebrows – from his secret connection to former Islander who appeared on the All Stars series earlier this year, to his rather unexpected upbringing inside his mum's sex shop in Spain. ‌ In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, Blu revealed that although he hasn't yet met Kaz, who famously appeared in Love Island 2018, their paths have more than just crossed in spirit - they both train at the same Muay Thai gym on the Costa Blanca. ‌ 'I haven't met her, but she trains at Real Paddy Club in Spain – the same gym I go to,' Blu explained. 'She trains with someone I know.' Blu, who's been boxing since he was a teen, credits Muay Thai for keeping him focused and humble. It's part of what he hopes to bring to the villa – discipline, confidence and a whole lot of charisma. But if you thought training with a former Islander was wild, wait until you hear about his home life. Blu's mum runs a sex shop in Spain – and not just any backstreet boutique. It's a fully-fledged, advice-giving, no-judgement haven for couples and curious minds alike. Asked if he ever got a family discount, Blu laughs: 'Yeah, pretty much. Anything you want!' ‌ While some might be mortified, Blu speaks candidly about what it was like growing up surrounded by adult toys and open conversations about sex. 'It was cool,' he says. 'Back then it was more taboo, but people eventually realised it's actually pretty awesome. A lot of my friends go to my mum for advice - it's a very open relationship.' ‌ His grounded, no-shame attitude towards sexuality could serve him well in the villa – especially now that ITV has confirmed it won't censor sex scenes in the 2025 series. For the first time since the show toned things down in recent years, producers say islanders who hook up will be shown doing so, sparking a major conversation online. So what does Blu – whose own mum gives out sex advice – make of it all? ‌ 'She hasn't asked me, but it wouldn't surprise her if it happened,' he admits. 'I'm not going in expecting it – whatever happens, happens.' ITV insiders say the move reflects a more 'authentic' approach to dating on screen, but for Blu, it's just another part of being open and honest about intimacy. That openness, he says, was modelled early on by his mum – and he's not shy about it. 'Oh yeah, full tour,' he chuckles, when we ask if he's ever taken a date to the family business. 'The shop gives everyone a whole experience – education and the shop assistants make you feel comfortable.' ‌ Blu's already won fans over with his straight-talking, down-to-earth charm. Describing himself as 'energetic and bubbly,' he's going into the villa hoping to be 'someone who can be there for others when they're having a tough time' – and says he's not the type to play games. Keeping coy about his type, and not specifying looks when speaking about his type, he is mostly into 'Someone who is family oriented, has a lot of love to give and a lot of love to receive. Personality goes a long way." With a connection to past royalty, a refreshingly honest view on modern love, and an upbringing like no other, Blu is about to make waves in Love Island 2025 – and we'll be watching every second. Love Island 2025 begins Monday 9 June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

Corrie star's true feelings on Swarla twist as she shares wedding theory

Coronation Street's Betsy Swain actress Sydney Martin has shared both her and her character's thoughts on that Lisa and Carla proposal, and if a wedding could air on the ITV soap One Coronation Street star has shared a new theory about something that could happen if Lisa Swain and Carla Connor did end up getting married. Amid hopes from Swarla fans for a wedding for the pair after a recent proposal, actress Sydney Martin, who plays Lisa's daughter Betsy Swain on the ITV soap, has had her say. She shared her character's true thoughts on the romance and how she would react to the proposal, and a possible wedding. ‌ She also shared her own thoughts on Swarla, acknowledging the fictional couple's international reach while sharing what she thinks could happen where the wedding is concerned, with her thoughts on both the likely bridesmaids and whether they will make it to Ibiza. With Lisa and Carla sharing their hopes for a future ceremony, and Carla saying now was not the right time, the pair are not currently engaged. ‌ But fans are sure it will happen soon, amid the characters plotting an Ibiza wedding. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, actress Sydney shared her thoughts on the twist and what's ahead. She spilled on how Betsy would react to them being engaged if it happened: "I think secretly she would love it. Sydney would absolutely love it, but Betsy I think internally she would too. "She knows the dynamic really works and she does truly see Carla as a stepmother and as family. But I think she would still be Betsy wouldn't she, and she would probably be embarrassed by them both." Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton on the show, joined in with the Swarla chat and confessed she was hoping her character would bag an invite to the big day. She told her co-star: "I need to be there!" It's then that Sydney shared a possible prediction about the big scenes, if not a hope, as she told Cait that Lauren could well be a bridesmaid for the pair. She told Cait: "Don't worry, you will be there with Betsy in the bridesmaid dresses. Hopefully one day." ‌ We also got their thoughts on the possible wedding location being Ibiza, and it is safe to say both Cait and Sydney were down. Sydney said: "I wish we were going Ibiza! I mean you know what, if they're not going to take us to Ibiza... we'd so be there." Cait added: "I would love that." Sydney shared her support for the couple, as did Cait, while acknowledging the fan base for Swarla had gone international. It wasn't just Cait and Sydney that wanted the trip to Ibiza meanwhile, as when we spoke to Lisa actress Vicky Myers she was ready for the petition to get going. She joked: "I think it would be very good. Shall we see? We can put it out there."
