DENVER (KDVR) — Firefighters stabilized a Lakewood home after a car smashed through the wall and into a living room.
On Wednesday night, firefighters with the West Metro Fire Rescue responded to the 100 block of South Upham Court, in the Villa Homes residential community, after an SUV went into a house.

The crew said the car took out the wall between the garage and the kitchen and rolled into a family room. West Metro grabbed a few photos of the damage, which shows the car halfway into the family room, taking out the wall and several items in the home.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
The fire rescue said members of its technical rescue team consulted with the Lakewood Building Department and put up shores to stabilize the damage.
At this time, it's unclear who the driver was, and if this was their house.

BMW Charity Pro-Am raises over $16 million for S.C. charities

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — At the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, their mission is all about giving back to local charities. For 25 years, the BMW Charity Pro-Am has been in 'full swing,' bringing a fun tournament to the Upstate while raising money for charities across the state. 'Oh, they love it,' Jeff Morris, Executive Director of Folds of Honor for the Palmetto State also said. 'They are calling me as soon as we are finished,' Chrystal Assadzandi, Charity and Volunteer Coordinator for the BMW Charity Pro-Am, said. 'I get a lot of calls saying 'how can we participate? How can we be a part?'' In 2001, the tournament was created to showcase the beauty of the South Carolina Upstate, while bringing locals, celebrities, and professional golfers together. It's aimed to raise money and awareness for South Carolina charities. One of those charities that has been impacted is Folds of Honor. 'I have had many veterans come up to me and they are so grateful to have the opportunity to come watch a golf tournament, come into the hospitality suite, interact with other veterans,' Morris said. 'It is amazing when you hear them, and they just go in there and they swap stories.' Morris said since Folds of Honor's involvement with the BMW Charity Pro-Am began in 2018, their group has been awarded around $250,000. The charity offers educational scholarships to the children and spouses of military and first responders. Funding for Folds of Honor, along with the more than 50 charities involved in this year's tournament, is raised in many ways, including through donations, ticket sales, and volunteer programs. BMW leaders said hundreds of charities have been impacted through this tournament over the past 25 years, and the money raised for them has not slowed down. 'We have given back in the past 25 years over $16 million to charities right here in the Upstate,' Assadzandi said. The BMW Charity Pro-Am will run through Sunday, June 8. For the final two days of the tournament, it's being held at the Thornblade Club in Greenville. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Colorado State Patrol asks drivers to respect lane filtering motorcyclists

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado State Patrol is urging drivers to respect motorcyclists engaged in lane filtering, with summer riding season officially underway. First and foremost, CSP said it is important for drivers to understand the difference between lane splitting, which is illegal, and lane filtering, which was legalized last year and took effect last August. What's the difference between lane filtering and lane splitting — and which one is legal? 'The first thing Coloradoans need to understand is that there is a seemingly small but important difference between lane filtering and lane splitting,' CSP Chief Col. Matthew C. Packard said in a statement. 'One maneuver is legal, and the other remains prohibited, so let's all start by getting on the same page.' Lane filtering is when a motorcyclist passes other cars that are at a complete stop. Lane splitting, meanwhile, is when a rider rides in-between cars that are in motion. According to the new law, the CSP says these five rules must be followed: To pass, traffic in the rider's lane and adjacent lanes going the same direction must be at a complete stop The lane must be wide enough to fit the vehicle and motorcycle while passing The motorcycle must go 15 mph or less The rider must pass safely and control the motorcycle The rider must pass on the left and not enter the oncoming traffic lane Sign up for the FOX31 Denver Guide weekly newsletter for events and activities 'It's up to the rider to assess each situation and determine if the conditions are safe and legal to filter – it's an option, not a requirement to filter,' Packard said. 'It is also the responsibility of every motorist to share the road. Drive with etiquette and with the law in mind. Respecting each other and driving without distractions will make our commutes faster and safer.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Rope in gearbox, bald tires: Thornton police show unsafe vehicles on Colorado roadways

DENVER (KDVR) — The Thornton Police Department said it removed several vehicles and drivers from Colorado roadways in a recent commercial vehicle operation. The efforts were part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance International Roadcheck, a three-day effort for law enforcement to focus on commercial vehicle safety, compliance and education. FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inbox The police department said it uncovered 68 violations in the course of the event and removed seven vehicles and five drivers from service. The agency also found a vehicle with fictitious plates, as well as three unlicensed drivers and one driver who was in possession of drugs. 'The photos show just how dangerous some of these vehicles were — from bald tires to a steering gearbox held on with rope,' the agency said. Last month, Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Colorado State Patrol troopers partnered on an operation to remove unsafe commercial vehicles and drivers from the state's roadways, ultimately taking seven commercial vehicles and four commercial vehicle drivers out of service. In 2024, a commercial vehicle crashed on U.S. 285, killing one person and injuring others. A trucking industry expert told the Problem Solvers that the crash shows that enforcement of the vehicles is crucial to road safety. An arrest affidavit said the driver told troopers his brakes went out, but investigators measuring skids on the pavement determined the truck's brakes were working, although well below the minimum requirements. Investigators also reported that the truck had not been inspected since 2020. Colorado State Patrol said that the driver was convicted of speeding and operating without lawfully required equipment in 2022. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
