Kimberly Guilfoyle, nominee for ambassador to Greece: About Trump Jr.'s ex-fiancee, her new job

Yahoo02-04-2025

Kimberly Guilfoyle, former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., will be living the Greek life — when her new position announced by his father officially starts.
When photos surfaced online of Donald Trump Jr. kissing socialite Bettina Anderson, it made global news.
Then his dad, President Donald Trump, announced days later that Guilfoyle would be his new ambassador to Greece during his second administration.
That made global news, too.
However, it's been more than two months since Donald Trump's inauguration and months after Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. called off their engagement. Is Guilfoyle, a former Fox News TV personality and member of Donald Trump's inner circle, headed to Greece? When does the ambassadorship start?
It could be soon.
Recently, Guilfoyle participated in a Greek Independence Day celebration at the White House with President Donald Trump. She shared footage of her March 24 speech to her social networks with one caption stating, 'Today, we celebrate and cherish our rich history and ensuring bond, the United States and Greece.'
Here's what we know.
Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of Donald Trump and the late Ivana Trump, was born on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 1977. His siblings are Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, half-sister Tiffany Trump born to Donald Trump and Marla Maples, and half-brother Barron Trump, born to Donald and Melania Trump.
Donald Trump Jr. previously was married to former model Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018. They have five children: Kai Madison Trump, Donald Trump III, Tristan Trump, Spencer Trump and Chloe Trump. Currently, Vanessa Trump is dating golf legend and Donald Trump's longtime friend, Tiger Woods.
Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle started dating in 2018 after his divorce was finalized from Vanessa Trump. The pair were engaged and bought a house together in 2021 and split sometime in 2024.
In December 2024, Donald Trump Jr. was publicly spotted with model Bettina Anderson of Palm Beach, Florida. The pair attended Donald and Melania Trump's annual New Year's Eve party at Mar-a-Lago, Inauguration Day 2025 festivities in Washington, D.C., and Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans with the Trump family.

Kimberly Guilfoyle is a former model, attorney and Fox News host from San Francisco, California. She's been a familiar face in the Trump circle since 2018. Guilfoyle previously appeared on "The Five" and "Outnumbered" on Fox News. Before her relationship with Donald Trump Jr., Guilfoyle was previously married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, for four years while he was the mayor of San Francisco. They divorced in 2006, and she married furniture heir Eric Villency the same year. They had a son, Ronan Villency, but divorced in 2009.
In December 2024, photos of Donald Trump Jr. and Palm Beach, Florida, socialite Bettina Anderson were published online. Days later, Donald Trump appointed Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece. According to an April 2, 2025, record search, Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle's home in Jupiter is off the market and both names appear on property records.
On Dec. 10, 2024, then-President-elect Donald Trump nominated Kimberly Guilfoyle, his son Donald Trump Jr.'s former fiancee, to be US ambassador to Greece. A Senate confirmation is required, but as of April 2, 2025, one has not been scheduled. Guilfoyle's Instagram description mentions her new post: "Public figure. Appointed by President Donald J. Trump as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece."
Ambassadors typically are based at the U.S. embassy of the host country, or in this case, 91 Vasilisis Sophias Ave., 10160 Athens, Greece.
Though she and Donald Trump Jr. are no longer dating, Guilfoyle continues to be a strong champion for his father and uses her various platforms − her X presence, Instagram and Rumble podcast − to spread Trump administration news. Recently, Guilfoyle:
received an award at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club (see below)
attended Inauguration Day 2025 events in Washington, D.C. (along with Donald Trump Jr., his ex-wife Vanessa Trump and their children, and his girlfriend Bettina Anderson)
attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana, as did the Trump family (including Donald Trump Jr., three of his children and Anderson)
attended Palm Beach, Florida, society functions and galas
George Tsunis served as US ambassador to Greece from 2022 to 2025. He was nominated by former President Joe Biden on Oct. 8, 2021, then confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 10, 2022. He began serving as ambassador to Greece on May 10, 2022, until Jan. 20, 2025, the date of President Donald Trump's inauguration.
During his term, Tsunis had frequently posted messages under the @USambassadorGR handle on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. On Jan. 17, 2025, he delivered a farewell tweet: "Serving as U.S. Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime. As a Greek-American, returning to serve in the land where my parents were born has made this journey even more meaningful. The philoxenia, wisdom, and enduring spirit that shaped my childhood were magnificently strengthened during my time here. Every corner of Greece − from its storied past to its bright future − has offered lessons in leadership and friendship I will carry forever. Our Chargé d'Affaires Maria Olson will assume leadership on January 20 and continue advancing our shared goals. Please continue following @USEmbassyAthens for updates on our vital bilateral relationship."
As of April 2, 2025, there has been no mentions of Kimberly Guilfoyle's appointment on the official X handles for the Greece ambassador and the U.S. Embassy in Athens account, except for the Greek Independence Day celebration on March 24, 2025, at the White House. On Instagram, the U.S. Embassy in Athens account has posted a Reel about Inauguration Day and a photo of Super Bowl LIX, which Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle and Bettina Anderson attended.

SLO County's Juneteenth event canceled after local NAACP president is suspended

This is a developing story. Check back to for updates. To get breaking news alerts, click here San Luis Obispo County's Juneteenth celebration was canceled after the president of the local NAACP was permanently banned from the organization, according to a now-deleted social media post. The San Luis Obispo County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People posted on social media that the event, which commemorates the end of slavery each year on June 19, was canceled because of 'recent actions by the NAACP, in addition to the suspension of Ms. Cheryl Vines, the former president.' The post was deleted from Facebook and Instagram in the late-morning on Tuesday. It is unclear exactly when Vines became president of the organization. Tobin Johnson signed a letter as president condemning racist graffiti at San Luis Obispo City Hall in February, and a May 29 letter states Vines was secretary for the San Luis Obispo branch. Neither Vines nor Johnson immediately responded to The Tribune's request for comment. The Tribune also reached out to the local NAACP via phone, email and social media but has not received a response. 'We recognize the importance of the SLO Juneteenth event and in the community's anticipation. However, due to these circumstances and our commitment to upholding the NAACP's values and integrity, we found it necessary to cancel the event,' the social media statement said. The organization also posted a statement on its Instagram story that said the event Monday evening, which was scheduled for June 14, was canceled 'due to certain circumstances.' 'Just be mindful of Ms. Vines and in addition I don't want to appear I am speaking for the president and CEO, as well as for President Callender,' Instagram story said. It's unclear who made that comment on behalf of the local group. Instagram stories automatically delete after 24 hours, but this story was still up as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The decision to cancel the event was difficult, the organization said on the event's website. It was scheduled to take place on June 14 in Mission Plaza, featuring musical performances, speakers, resources, a silent auction and a bake sale, as well as a gumbo cook-off and creole dinner. Around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, after the post was deleted, the organization posted a vague statement on its Instagram story that said all events were canceled but did not say why. It also did not name Vines in the statement. 'The NAACP's mission is to secure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights for everyone. We remain steadfast in its commitment to upholding our core values and integrity,' the new post said. Identical statements were also posted to the organization's Facebook story, which also automatically deletes after 24 hours. The organization posted a third statement on its Instagram story with more vague language, this time not mentioning Vines at all. According to the cease-and-desist letter sent from NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson to Vines and obtained by The Tribune, Vines' membership of the NAACP was 'suspended for life' on May 17 following a complaint made against her on Dec. 27. The NAACP National Board of Directors held a hearing regarding an unspecified complaint on April 28 and submitted its findings to a three-person committee. The committee then made recommendations to the NAACP National Board of Directors, which made the final decision to suspend Vines' membership. The letter directed Vines to 'immediately cease and desist from acting or holding yourself out as an NAACP member and as the San Luis Obispo County Branch secretary.' It also ordered Vines to return all her NAACP property. It is unclear at this time what allegations were in the complaint that led to Vine's permanent suspension.

National Guard troops arrive in Los Angeles on Trump's orders to quell immigration protests

LOS ANGELES (AP) — National Guard troops began arriving in Los Angeles early Sunday on orders from President Donald Trump in response to clashes in recent days between federal immigration authorities and protesters seeking to block them from carrying out deportations. Members of California's National Guard were seen staging early Sunday at the federal complex in downtown Los Angeles that includes the Metropolitan Detention Center, one of several sites that have seen confrontations involving hundreds of people in last two days. The troops included members of the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, according to a social media post from the Department of Defense that showed dozens of National Guard members with long guns and an armored vehicle. Trump has said he is deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell the protests, which he called 'a form of rebellion.' Early Sunday, the deployment was limited to a small area in downtown Los Angeles. The protests have been relatively small and limited to a downtown section. The rest of the city of 4 million people is largely unaffected. Their arrival follows clashes near a Home Depot in the heavily Latino city of Paramount, south of Los Angeles. As protesters sought to block Border Patrol vehicles, with some hurling rocks and chunks of cement, federal agents unleashed tear gas, flash-bang explosives and pepper balls. Tensions were high after a series of sweeps by immigration authorities the previous day, as the weeklong tally of immigrant arrests in the city climbed past 100. A prominent union leader was arrested while protesting and accused of impeding law enforcement. On Sunday morning, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the National Guard would 'keep peace and allow people to be able to protest but also to keep law and order.' In a signal of the administration's aggressive approach, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also threatened to deploy active-duty Marines 'if violence continues' in the region. The move came over the objections of Gov. Gavin Newsome, marking the first time in decades that a state's national guard was activated without a request from its governor, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Newsom, a Democrat, said Trump's decision to call in the National Guard was 'purposefully inflammatory." He described Hegseth's threat to deploy Marines on American soil as 'deranged behavior.' Trump's order came after clashes in Paramount and neighboring Compton, where a car was set on fire. Protests continued into the evening in Paramount, with several hundred demonstrators gathered near a doughnut shop, and authorities holding up barbed wire to keep the crowd back. Crowds also gathered again outside federal buildings in downtown Los Angeles, including a detention center, where local police declared an unlawful assembly and began to arrest people.
