Veteran Telugu actor GV Babu passed away on May 25, 2025, in Warangal. Director Venu Yeldandi confirmed the news and paid tribute.
Veteran Telugu theatre and film actor GV Babu passed away on May 25, 2025, while undergoing treatment in Warangal. He had reportedly been battling age-related health complications for a while.
The news of his death was confirmed by Balagam director Venu Yeldandi, who paid tribute on social media. Talking about Babu's legacy, Venu wrote on X, 'G.V. Babu is no more. He spent his entire life in the theater. In the last days, I was fortunate enough to introduce him through Balagam. May his soul rest in peace."
Babu was last seen in Balagam (2023), a poignant family drama set in rural Telangana. The film, which marked Yeldandi's directorial debut, featured Babu in a supporting role that resonated with audiences. The story centers around the death of Komurayya, a village elder whose passing unearths long-buried family tensions.
As the family navigates grief, estranged members clash over personal grievances, with unresolved issues surfacing amidst the funeral preparations. The narrative is both touching and tense, with Sayilu, Komurayya's grandson, attempting to exploit the situation for financial gain. Misfortunes in the village are soon blamed on Komurayya's unsettled spirit, leading to a Panchayat intervention and, ultimately, an emotional family reconciliation.
