‘Miami Vice' Redo Revs With ‘Top Gun: Maverick' Helmer Joseph Kosinski, Dan Gilroy Script

Yahoo28-04-2025

Universal Pictures has set Joseph Kosinski to direct Miami Vice, a Dan Gilroy-scripted drama based on the iconic '80s NBC series about undercover cops taking down drug dealers. No cast yet. Dylan Clark is producing along with Kosinski.
They've been percolating this one for a bit, and Kosinski has one of the summer buzz titles in the Brad Pitt-starring Formula One movie F1 made by Apple and headed for theaters through Warner Bros. He's expected next to reteam with F1 producer Jerry Bruckheimer for an untitled UFO project at Apple, and this will come after. Kosinski and Bruckheimer also teamed on Top Gun: Maverick.

Hatched by NBC topper Brandon Tartikoff, who sent a note essentially asking for a cop drama with the flash of MTV that was so popular at the time, the series was created by Anthony Yerkovich. Michael Mann turned it into a visually iconic zeitgeist cultural symbol of the 1980s, as undercover cops Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs — Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas — dressed in cool pastel wardrobes driving fast cars and taking down drug dealers smuggling in cocaine supplied by the Mexican cartels in the neon-soaked vistas of Miami with a cutting-edge synthesizer soundtrack and the top 40 songs of the moment.
The show lasted five Mann turned the series into the 2006 film for Miami Vice for Universal that starred Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as the undercover duo. Gilroy wrote and directed Nightcrawler, and most recently worked on the Lucasfilm series Andor for Disney+.
Kosinski is repped by CAA, Untitled and Sloane Offer; Gilroy is CAA, LBI and Howard Abrahamson. Uni EVP of production/development Sara Scott is overseeing for the studio.

Everything we know so far about Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Show Caption Hide Caption Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights tips for scaredy cats You don't have to like haunted houses to have fun at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. We have our first Halloween Horror Nights theme for 2025. "Five Nights at Freddy's is coming in a whole new way to this year's Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights in both Hollywood and Orlando," the social media accounts for both events posted Sunday night. "More details coming soon." First a video game and book series, then a 2023 Blumhouse and Universal Pictures film with a sequel due to premiere this December, "Five Nights at Freddy's" follows animatronics from an abandoned children's pizza restaurant that come to life and kill. Universal has featured several Blumhouse films in Halloween Horror Nights experiences in recent years. So far, details on this year's other themes, ticket prices and more remain under wraps, but we already know answers to some of the most popular HHN questions. Here's what we know about 2025's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. Start date of Halloween Horror Nights Universal's fan-favorite event will start a day earlier than last year, on both coasts. This year's Halloween Horror Nights will start on Aug. 29 in Orlando and run on select nights through Nov. 2 Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights will begin Sept. 4 and run on select nights through Nov. 2 What does Halloween Horror Nights consist of? Halloween Horror Nights is best known for its immersive themed houses and open-air scare zones. Each year, a few themes span both coasts, though they may be executed differently. Last year's shared themes were A Quiet Place, Insidious: The Further, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines. Remaining house and scare-zone themes are location-specific. Orlando usually has more houses and leans into more original content, while Hollywood tends to embrace more IP. Hollywood is also the only place guests can experience the Terror Tram, an HHN-specific twist on the World-Famous Studio Tour. Both events offer live entertainment, themed food and access to select park attractions with generally shorter waits times than during the day. How scary is Universal Halloween Horror Nights? Scary is subjective. Some guests aren't phased at all. Others can barely stand to open their eyes. Most guests are somewhere in between, enjoying a good scare in a safe space. Don't you dare look scared: How I survived Universal's Halloween Horror Nights Can the actors touch you at Halloween Horror Nights? They're not supposed to touch you. They may accidentally brush against you in a crowded scare zone, but they won't reach out and touch you on purpose. By the same token, guests should never touch scareactors, which is what Universal calls HHN actors. What can you not wear to Halloween Horror Nights? Guests are not allowed to wear costumes or masks at Halloween Horror Nights. Does HHN have an age limit? No, but the event's webpage says it 'may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for children under the age of 13.' Is Halloween Horror Nights worth it? It's not yet clear how much this year's tickets will cost, but many fans return year after year and sometimes multiple times within a season because they love HHN so much. For reference, last year's single-night tickets started at $82.99 for Orlando and $77 for Hollywood. Multi-night passes are also available. Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event that is not included with standard park admission.

How to Turn Your Pet's Pictures Into Emoji on Your iPhone

I love my dog, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She's brown and white and precious, and I want to show her to the world. And Apple makes that easy with a feature called Live Stickers, which turns photos of her into emojis and stickers I can text to others Apple introduced Live Stickers in iOS 17 as an evolution of the tap-and-lift feature from iOS 16, which lets you cut out subjects from photos and Live Photos. Now, you can save those cutouts as emojis and stickers. That way, you can turn photos of your pets, family and friends into stickers to send to others in Messages. Read more: Everything You Need to Know About iOS 18 Here's how you can take your pictures and make them into emoji and stickers to send in Messages and other apps. How to make Live Stickers and emoji from pictures 1. Open your Photos app. 2. Tap the photo you want to turn into an emoji or sticker. 3. Tap and hold the item in the photo you want to turn into an emoji or sticker until you see the white outline. 4. Tap Add Sticker. Make sure you select the folded-over circle (selected above) to view your new emoji. Apple/Screenshot by CNET Your iPhone will then add the Live Sticker to your Stickers drawer, and it will also appear in your emoji keyboard. If you tap the new sticker, you'll be given the options to Rearrange, Add Effect or Delete it. Tapping Add Effect will let you put an effect on your sticker, like a white outline to make it look even more like a sticker. The next time you go into Messages, you can use your new sticker as an emoji by tapping the emoji keyboard in the bottom-left corner of your screen, tapping the folded-over circle and tapping the emoji you want to use. According to Apple, you can use your new Live Sticker anywhere you can access emoji. I tried to use my Live Stickers on the messaging app Slack, but they wouldn't appear in the app. I also couldn't access my Live Stickers in some third-party apps, like TikTok, so you might run into some issues when using your Live Stickers outside of Apple apps and devices.
