Rollover crash on Rt. 26 in Nanticoke leaves one dead

NANTICOKE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – New York State Police confirmed with News 34 that a one-car accident on Route 26 in Nanticoke Thursday night resulted in the driver's death.
NYSP says the report for a one-vehicle crash northbound on Route 26 came in at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, March 6. Police say the Ford F-250 pickup left the roadway, hitting the guardrail and flipped over.
Responders to the accident say they found 22-year-old Sethe Menta, of Lisle, pinned underneath the truck when they arrived. Menta was declared dead at the scene.

ERWIN, N.Y. (WETM) — A Virginia man was arrested in June on illegal weapons charges after an incident in the Town of Erwin, according to a release from the New York State Police. Clarence J. Payton, 30, of Virginia, was arrested on Thursday, June 5, on several felony charges including: Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree: loaded firearm, not in home/business, a class C felony. Criminal possession of a firearm, a class C felony. Two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, not in the home, a class B misdemeanor. Police investigating gunshot after overnight incident in Elmira Payton was arrested after an incident inside a home on Thursday where troopers said Payton was asked to leave the residence and reportedly had a gun. Troopers found Payton at the home and saw he had a pistol and an additional extended magazine. It was later learned that Payton did not have a valid New York State pistol permit. The following items were taken from Payton: Clock 17 pistol Two Glock-17 magazines One KCI USA 33-round magazine Various 9mm Luger ammunition Payton was arrested on the charges and taken to the state police barracks for processing before he was moved to the Steuben County Jail for further proceedings. BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An eight-year-old girl has died and two men are in critical condition after a head-on crash with a driver who was allegedly impaired, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, troopers responded to the crash on US 70 near Sundown Road. Officials said a 2017 Ford F-150 was going east on US 70 when it crossed the centerline and crashed head-on with a 2022 Kia Forte, which then collided with the guardrail and overturned. Bicyclist fatally struck in York County crash: SCHP The driver of the Ford, 43-year-old Benjamin Jacob Willis, and the driver of the Kia, a 30-year-old man, were both taken to local hospitals in critical condition. Sadly, an eight-year-old girl sitting in the backseat of the Kia died of her injuries at the scene, officials said. Investigators believe Willis was impaired at the time of the crash, and charges against him are pending, according to NCSHP. A child is dead and two others are hurt after a collision in Burke County Sunday evening, police said. The accident happened on Highway 70 near Sundown Road in Burke County around 6:30 p.m. The NC State Highway Patrol said a Ford F-150 crossed the centerline and hit a Kia head-on. The crash caused the car to collide with the guardrail and overturn. The driver of the truck, Benjamin Willis, and the Kia driver, Jacob Ferguson, were transported to the hospital in critical condition, officials said. Police said the child was in the backseat of the car and died at the scene. Officials believe impairment played a role in the crash, and charges are pending against Willis.
