SSI beneficiaries to receive two payments in May 2025, none in June—Here's why
Millions of Americans receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will see two deposits in May 2025 instead of the usual one. The US Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed that SSI beneficiaries will be paid on both May 1 and May 30, due to a calendar adjustment caused by June 1 falling on a Sunday, as reported by USA Today.

While this may appear as a bonus or a special stimulus, the second May payment is actually the advance deposit for June. This long-standing SSA practice ensures that recipients are not left waiting if a scheduled payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, as reported by CNET.
This means there will be no SSI payment in June, so beneficiaries are encouraged to budget carefully. The increased monthly benefit—$967 for individuals and $1,450 for eligible couples—reflects the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%, helping recipients cope with rising expenses and inflation.
*May 1 – Regular monthly SSI payment
*May 3 – Social Security payments for those receiving both SSI and Social Security
*May 8 – Social Security payments for individuals with birthdays between the 1st and 10th
*May 15 – Social Security payments for birthdays between the 11th and 20th
*May 22 – Social Security payments for birthdays between the 21st and 31st
*May 30 – Early SSI payment for June
These payment dates include both SSI and Social Security distributions. Those receiving multiple benefits may see deposits on more than one date.
With two SSI deposits landing in May, it's crucial for recipients to budget the second payment to last through June, as there will be no deposit that month. Recipients are also advised to keep track of the schedule and monitor their bank accounts to ensure payments arrive as expected.
Direct deposit continues to be the safest and most efficient method for receiving payments. For those relying on mailed checks, delivery may take longer and should be accounted for when planning monthly finances.

This dual-payment month is a normal occurrence within the SSA's system, not an anomaly or mistake. However, it serves as a timely reminder of the importance of financial awareness—especially for seniors, people with disabilities, and others who depend on fixed monthly income.
For millions across the United States, the SSI program is a lifeline. Understanding the timing and structure of these payments is key to navigating the months ahead with financial stability.

Social Security June 2025: Stimulus checks could be delayed this month - Here's why
Workers at the Social Security Administration (SSA) are raising concerns that some people might see delays in their payments over the next few weeks. The warning comes as the agency shifts its focus to nearly 900,000 complicated cases. SSA employees told USA Today that this change in focus could mean late or missing checks for thousands of Americans. These delays could affect people making routine updates to their accounts, like changing a bank or home address. This is important because nearly 70 million Americans depend on Social Security each month for essentials like rent, groceries, and healthcare. The agency is currently carrying out changes tied to the Social Security Fairness Act, which was passed under former President Donald Trump's administration. The law gives benefits to people who paid into the system but were previously not eligible—such as teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other public workers. Also Read: E-Verify mismatch case issue: What exactly happened at the SSA and how to resolve? Drew Powers, founder of Illinois-based Powers Financial Group said, "More than 2 million of these cases were straightforward enough to be automated, but the remaining 900,000 claims are more complicated and must be approved by hand," as quoted by Newsweek report. Although the White House says these updates should not affect current Social Security payments, SSA workers say there may still be delays for routine changes, like updating direct deposit info or sorting out Medicaid billing. Employees have been told to prioritize the remaining cases under the Fairness Act. "Using automation, SSA has already expedited over $15.1 billion in long-delayed retroactive payments to more than 2.3 million individuals affected," White House spokesperson Liz Huston said previously. SSA workers also say they've been given a deadline of July 1 to complete the updates, which is creating a backlog and slowing down responses to other types of requests.

Who Is James Fishback? DOGE Architect Quits Initiative After Musk-Trump Row
Last Updated: Fishback, the key figure behind the 'DOGE checks' initiative, has announced his departure from the project James Fishback, the key figure behind the 'DOGE checks" initiative, has announced his departure from the project, citing billionaire Elon Musk's criticism of US President Donald Trump as the reason. In a lengthy post on X Saturday, Fishback said he was 'disappointed" by Musk's behaviour and demanded an apology to Trump and his family. He wrote, 'I believed in Elon Musk's vision to shrink government and make it work better for Americans. I'm proud of the DOGE Dividend proposal I developed and will keep working with the administration to return savings to taxpayers." I believed in Elon Musk's vision to shrink government and make it work better for Americans. I'm proud of the DOGE Dividend proposal I developed and will keep working with the administration to return savings to truth is that Elon set expectations that he relayed… — James Fishback (@j_fishback) June 6, 2025 He also expressed concern over Musk's actions, stating, 'Elon set expectations that he relayed to the President, me, and the country that he did not come close to fulfilling. That's disappointing, but okay. What's not okay is his baseless personal attacks against President Trump." Calling Trump a 'once-in-a-century leader," Fishback praised the US president's leadership and patience, especially in light of Musk's public comments. 'It's time for Elon to apologize to the President and his family, cool off, and get back to work on inventing the future at Tesla and SpaceX," he added. Who Is James Fishback? Fishback is also known for founding Incubate Debate, the fastest-growing high school debate league in the US. A former national debate champion himself, he launched the initiative in 2019. The idea for the 'DOGE Dividend" reportedly came to him in a dream. He had told Newsweek that he quickly drafted the concept with Azoria's head of research. Although he never officially joined the DOGE project, the proposal was endorsed by Musk and gained interest from Trump, who supported the idea of a citizen dividend scheme.

Nano urea revolutionised agriculture sector slashing chemical fertiliser use: Mansukh Mandaviya
New Delhi: Nano urea, based on nanotechnology, has revolutionised the agriculture sector, and has slashed the use of chemical fertilisers that are harmful to soil and health, Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya said. In a video shared by Modi Story, a handle on social media platform X, Union Minister Mandaviya narrated how a simple suggestion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by a young scientist paved the way for the development of nano urea in the country. Mandaviya said that this led to the development of the world's first nano urea plant in India, in partnership with the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). IFFCO launched the world's first 'Nano Liquid Urea' fertiliser in June 2021 and came up with Nano-DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) fertilisers in April 2023. Besides local farmers, the technologies are also being recognised internationally. 'I still remember how PM Narendra Modi Ji turned a simple suggestion into the revolutionary breakthrough of nano urea. Modi Ji doesn't just listen; he transforms ideas into impactful solutions. That's true leadership!' Mandaviya said, in response to the post on X. He stated that nano urea, developed using nanotechnology and which contains plant nutrients in very small particle sizes provides a safer alternative to the chemical fertilisers that can contaminate soil. 'Today, a 100 ml Nano Urea bottle replaces a full sack of urea, slashing transport costs, protecting soil, and helping farmers,' said Mandaviya, who was earlier the Fertiliser Minister. Today, the country has the potential to develop 2-3 lakh bottles of nano urea, he added. IFFCO's Nano Urea is widely recognised as a game-changer in fertilisation. It improves nutrient use efficiency, enhances nitrogen absorption, and significantly reduces nitrate leaching. Additionally, it promotes soil health, requires less water, and has a lower carbon footprint than conventional urea.
