Something surprising just occurred in the world of baseball, and it's not only sports enthusiasts who are emotional about it. For one family, this news has brought tears, memories, and renewed hope. A daughter received the call while getting ready for a flight and what she learned about her father left her speechless. What did Major League Baseball do, and why does it mean so much to her?
Fawn Rose shares her feelings after Pete Rose's MLB reinstatement
Major League Baseball officially removed Pete Rose from its list of players permanently banned on May 13, 2025. The baseball hits record holder Pete Rose was banned for life from the game in 1989 for betting on games. His daughter Fawn Rose was set to fly from Seattle to Cincinnati when she got word of it.
During an emotional interview with The Athletic, Fawn explained,
"The emotion just kind of came over me. I didn't think the commissioner's decision was going to affect me as much as it did."
She went on to say that although her dad made errors, he's still her father and he's human.
Fawn, the eldest among Pete Rose's five children, was a major factor in having her father's case helped. In December of 2024, she saw MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred personally to discuss the case of her father.
She wanted the league to understand not only as a player who disobeyed the rule but also as a human, a father, and someone who had learned the lesson from past mistakes.
"He's in the wrong. But he's our father. And he's human,"
she said to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Their attorney, Jeffrey Lenkov, also said to The Athletic, "It was crucial to listen to Pete's voice through his children."
Pete Rose now hopes for Hall of Fame after 36-year wait
Now that Pete Rose's suspension has been removed, he is on the ballot for Hall of Fame selection. The Classic Baseball Era Committee will once again vote in 2027.
This relieves his family and fans that the player with more hits in the history of MLB than anyone else can at last be celebrated.
In 2016, Pete Rose,
"Charlie Hustle"
was honored by the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. The team hooked him on May 14, 2025, when he gave the number 14 jersey to fans at Great American Ball Park.
Fawn Rose
commented,
"There's never going to be another Pete Rose, someone who played with that kind of heart and grit."
She is now hoping this action on the part of MLB brings something her dad has been waiting for decades: a spot in Cooperstown.

Rishabh Pant's Post For 'Brother' Markram After SA's Win In WTC Final Goes Viral
Last Updated: Makram scored 136 runs for South Africa in the 2nd innings of the WTC 2025 final and, for his super show with the bat, won the POTM award. Aiden Markram scored 136 runs from 207 balls for South Africa in the second innings to help them chase down the target of 282 runs and secure a famous win by five wickets over Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final. For his super batting show at the Lord's, the 30-year-old right-handed batter won the Player of the Match award. During his stay at the crease, Markram hammered 14 fours and added 147 runs for the third wicket with captain Temba Bavuma (66 runs). The record stand between the two batters helped South Africa end their 27-year-old long wait for a second ICC title. After South Africa stunned Australia at the Home of Cricket to become the third team to win the WTC title, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant took to X to share a post in which he congratulated 'brother' Markram for his 'great knock.' 'Well played, Aiden brother . I am so happy for you—what a great knock under pressure. You have made us all proud and congratulations to South Africa on lifting the WTC mace," Pant captioned the photo tweet. Well played, Aiden brother . I am so happy for you – what a great knock under pressure. You have made us all proud and congratulations to South Africa on lifting the WTC mace.👏🏆 — Rishabh Pant (@RishabhPant17) June 14, 2025 Markram was part of the Lucknow Super Giants team in IPL 2025 and played under Pant's leadership in the cash-rich league this year. The captain of South Africa's T20I team was on fire for the Lucknow-based franchise in IPL 2025, and with the help of five half-centuries, he amassed a total of 445 runs in 13 matches and also picked up four wickets. Markram creates history Markram failed to open his account in the first innings of the WTC 2025 final, but in the second, he made the opportunity count by keeping Aussie bowlers at bay. He completed his century by hitting Josh Hazlewood for a four on the fifth ball of the 55th over on Friday. The century at Lord's helped Markram become the first South African batter to score a century in the final of any ICC event. A total of 15 batters have scored 16 centuries in ICC finals, but Markram is the only one to achieve the feat for the Proteas. First Published: June 15, 2025, 19:33 IST

Shubman Gill gets vote of confidence as captain days ahead of England series: ‘He has been in discussions with Rohit…'
The transition is here and a new-look Indian side is gearing up for the challenge of playing against England in the five-match series, beginning June 20 in Headingley, Leeds. Shubman Gill is all set to take charge of the side following the retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin. Rishabh Pant will serve as Gill's deputy and all eyes are on Gill on how he leads from the front in the series against Ben Stokes and co. Ahead of the first Test against England, Kuldeep Yadav spoke to reporters on Sunday, and it was then that he gave a glowing review of Gill, saying he could not wait to play under his leadership in the longest format. Just days before the squad announcement for the England series, Rohit and Virat announced their Test retirements. The selectors have now named Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair, and Abhimanyu Easwaran to the jumbo 18-member squad. Shubman Gill recently led the Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2025 playoffs. However, his side lost the Eliminator against the Mumbai Indians in Mullanpur. One needs to see how the right-handed batter leads in the longest format. Gill is yet to set the stage on fire with the bat in overseas Tests so the England tour is expected to challenge him in all aspects. "As you have seen, Shubman knows how to lead the team. He has worked under a lot of seniors as well. For the last couple of years, he has been in a lot of discussions with Rohit Bhai. Not only in ODI but also in Tests. I am sure he has learnt a lot," Kuldeep said. "As a leader, he is very motivated. The way he thinks is very important. He has helped the team a lot. In the last 3-4 sessions, I have seen the qualities of the leadership group. I have seen that in Shubman as well. He is ready to lead the team," he added. Also Read: 'No expectations': How Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir reacted after Shubman Gill was named India captain The 25-year-old Gill has played 32 Tests so far, scoring 1893 runs at an average of 35.05. He is yet to score a century in the SENA countries. It needs to be seen whether he sticks to his old No.3 slot or whether he drops a slot to a position that Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli made their own. The Shubman Gill-led side are currently playing an intra-squad match against India A in Beckenham. Kuldeep Yadav spoke to reporters midway through Day 3 of the ongoing contest. Speaking about the upcoming England series which will be played across Headingley, Birmingham, Lord's, Manchester and the Oval, Kuldeep said, 'When there are no seniors, there is always a shortage. The players like Virat and Rohit, who have done so much for the team. Their importance will always be there. It is an opportunity for the youngsters to perform well. They have a chance to settle in the team.' 'That is very important. I am sure everyone feels their absence. But the youngsters look very excited. They are ready for it,' he added. Kuldeep Yadav also said that he is missing the presence of Ravichandran Ashwin after the latter retired from international cricket in December 2024 midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 'I am spending a lot of time with Ravindra Jadeja. He is very important to me as a spinner. I have learnt a lot from him. Obviously, I am missing Ashwin Bhai. But I am lucky to have Jaddu bhai around. I am enjoying everything so far,' he added.

Surinder describes Delhi's best pitch award in IPL 2025
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director Shyam Sunder Sharma lavished praise on the impact Delhi Premier League (DPL) has made and outlined steps being taken to promote women's cricket and its growth. According to Sharma, 14 players earned a spot in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and turned into prospects for the Indian team. 'The first season of DPL went very well. Everyone praised DPL. Fourteen youngsters went into IPL because of it. Everyone is saying that Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni and Digvesh Rathi are being seen as future prospects for India. This is because of DPL and this tournament was the brainchild of our president, Rohan Jaitley,' he told ANI. Sharma also revealed that subsidy is being offered to the clubs under DDCA to promote women's cricket and added, 'We have a special focus on women's cricket. There has been an addition to our subsidiary; whichever club plays a women's team will be given a subsidiary of Rs 1 lakh.' Former India cricketer Surinder Khanna hailed the DDCA for being awarded the Best Pitch and Ground Award of the Season in IPL 2025 and described the milestone as 'special.' Surinder credited the DDCA management and the ground in-charge, Ankit, for providing top-class wickets, especially in Delhi's scorching heat, which offered enjoyable conditions for both sides. 'I think Rohan Jaitley, his team and Ankit, the ground in-charge, who made pitches and gave top-class wickets. When the BCCI gives you an award, your batteries recharge. Earlier, these awards were handed to two or three centres, but this time, they were awarded to Delhi, which is special. I know it is not easy to provide quality wickets where both teams enjoy it. I am very happy, and I hope they continue to do it in the future,' Surinder told ANI. Last year, the DDCA launched the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL). This year, Women's DPL is set to arrive, which would be a 'great platform' for the rising talent to climb the ladder of success and earn a spot in the India Women's team, according to Surinder. 'Our young girls have great talent, and they could be selected for the WPL and the Indian women's team. It is a great platform. You are being watched by so many people all around the world, and so many franchises can pick you,' he added. (ANI)
