Bingeable RTE cooking show delivers over-the-top and oddly satisfying recipes
But being famished to the point of being grumpy - known by the playful portmanteau "hangry" - has resulted in some of his best recipes, which millions of people now watch him whip up online.
"I deep fried a piece of cheese covered in Doritos one night and I got a million views," says the TikTok star and host of new RTÉ Player series Look Who's Hangry.
"It's just kind of changed my life."
Lambert - a classically trained chef by trade - turned to TikTok during the COVID-19 lockdowns, shortly after leaving his job. What started as a passion project quickly caught on with the app's millions of users - Lambert now boasts more than 300,000 followers on TikTok alone, something he attributes to his "emotional" cooking approach.
"I like making people emotional - often they're waiting for me to say it at the end of the video!", he says.
Look Who's Hangry hit our screens at the beginning of the month. The show sees two creators pitted against each other to create unconventional yet appealing dishes, with Lambert lending his culinary expertise to both contenders along the way.
Highlights so far include deep-fried pistachio and sundried tomato ice cream, as well a jerk prawn sushi roll. Aside from these (often unholy) combinations, Lambert sees the show as an opportunity to broaden his gastronomic horizons.
"The highlight of making it would probably be learning different cultures and different cuisines, and seeing how people react to different things," he says.
"The response has been insane," he says, since the show debuted on the RTÉ Player. "My inbox was full of people saying 'What's this?' - because we released it so quickly, everyone keeps rewatching the episodes. It's great."
Hanger is a real emotion - not eating enough can lead to low blood sugar, which in turn releases stress hormones. The brain can often crave salty or fatty foods in this state - luckily, Lambert has plenty of recipes ready to meet these needs.
"What I do is get Koka noodles and make them into a wrap," he says. "Then I fry them in a pan with butter and make cheesy enchilada wraps, they're unbelievable - great for a hangover!"
The link between hangovers and hanger is strong, and the mind can often crave the same kind of unhealthy meals. "You lose a lot of salt when you're out drinking," Lambert says.
"You're then replenishing that salt the next day - that's why we crave those kind of foods!"
Daniel's shared two of his favourite hangry recipes down below - perfect after a night out, a night in or when any hunger pangs kick in!
Look Who's Hangry is currently available for streaming on RTÉ Player.

Die-hard Oasis fan goes viral after sneaking into Croker gigs by hiding in loos
A die-hard Oasis fan has gone viral after he shared how he snuck into the band's Croke Park gig without a ticket. Oasis performed two nights at the northside Dublin venue on Saturday and Sunday. And while hundreds who were left ticketless outside the stadium enjoyed the concert in their own way, one fan decided to chance his arm by sneaking into Croke Park disguised as bar staff. The young fan uploaded a reel on TikTok showing how he managed to gain entry into the GAA stadium with a fake wristband. He revealed he hid in a toilet for three hours, even boasting how he managed to 'sneak past the Guards". 'This may be the greatest masterplan,' he began. 'My fake worker outfit,' he said as he showed off his all-black get-up. He shared his wristband 'I got a worker wristband by queuing for one or then using a fake name. The view before crowds arrived 'I then snuck around the boss and found my way around the stadium to hide in the toilet. 'Spent three hours here. Trying to find my way to standing. Harry hid in a toilet for three hours 'Finally found a way, after sneaking past the guards and pretending I work in the front standing bars using the wristband. 'The masterplan was complete.' Harry makes it to the standing area In July, another die-hard fan snuck into one of their gigs by posing as a litter warden. UK fan John Spilsbury marched through the gates of Heaton Park in a hi-vis vest in Manchester. He said at the time: 'Transport planner John, 42, said he had arrived in Manchester ticketless but with a "master plan' after borrowing a yellow hi-vis vest and litter grabber from work. 'I took it with me as a last resort. They'd been lying around in one of the warehouses so I borrowed them for a bit,' said the transport planner from Alfreton, Derbyshire. I was quite lucky. 'It was just unbelievable really. From a security point of view, it was easy to get in and they didn't check for any tickets. 'I was acting very casual and when I saw the security guys I started picking up litter around them, saying 'Mind if I grab that mate' and I walked through. 'I did a half hour shift of picking, filling a bag with beer cans and plates. 'It was well worth it. I didn't get paid for the work but I got a free concert.' Aubrey Plaza details 'daily struggle' after death of her husband Jeff Baena
Aubrey Plaza has said it is a "daily struggle" following the death of her estranged husband Jeff Baena. The filmmaker died in January at the age of 47, with the Los Angeles County medical examiner concluding he took his own life. The director and screenwriter was found at a home close to the Fern Dell Nature Trail near the Hollywood Hills. Plaza discussed dealing with grief during an appearance on her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler's podcast. She said: "Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. "Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I'm ok, but it's like a daily struggle, obviously." She told Poehler's Good Hang podcast that she compared her grief to the 2025 movie The Gorge, which stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy. She said: "This is a really dumb analogy and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it. Did you see that movie The Gorge? In the movie, there's a cliff on one side and there's a cliff on the other side, then there's a gorge in between and it's filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them. "I swear, when I watched it, I was like that feels like what my grief is like … or what grief could be like. "At all times, there's like a giant ocean of awfulness, that's right there and I can see it. "Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just like be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But, it's always there." Plaza separated from Baena in September 2024, according to a report by the Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator. The couple had been in a relationship since around 2011 and they married a decade later. Plaza told The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December 2021 that they made the decision to tie the knot after getting "a little bored one night" during the Covid pandemic. The pair worked together on the 2014 horror film Life After Beth and 2017 historical comedy The Little Hours. Plaza is best known for her role as April in the workplace comedy Parks and Recreation, in which Poehler played politician Leslie Knope. She is also famous for her role in the second series of The White Lotus and the Marvel series Agatha All Along. She has also starred in Hollywood films including Megalopolis, My Old Ass, Ingrid Goes West, Dirty Grandpa and Emily The Criminal. Baena wrote 2020 thriller Horse Girl, starring Alison Brie, and 2022 dark comedy Spin Me Round, both of which he also directed, as well as 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees, starring Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Dustin Hoffman and Mark Wahlberg. He also created the anthology comedy series Cinema Toast, which had an episode directed by Plaza and another starring Community actress Alison Brie.
