Bhopal Metro rail service to launch by October
The Bhopal Metro rail service is set to begin its commercial operation by Oct 2025 in Bhopal, with PM Modi expected to dedicate it to the people of Bhopal.On Sunday, chief minister Mohan Yadav inspected the Metro work underway while he rode from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS station.During the inspection, Yadav said, "We have invited the PM to inaugurate Bhopal Metro. The project is in its final stage, and other cities in Madhya Pradesh will soon have the metro rail facility as well." Officials from the MP urban development department and MPMRCL were also present during inspection.The initial priority section spans 7 km and links eight elevated stations between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS Bhopal. Some of the main features of the Metro services include lifts at stations and facilities for physically challenged passengers.Bhopal Metro project, valued at around Rs 6,941 crore, includes 27 train sets, with eight already delivered. The Metro recently received its first essential certification after a successful evaluation by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow. The final authorisation from the Commissioner of Railway Safety will enable the service launch.The CM highlighted the administration's focus on improving urban transport in Bhopal and Indore. With Indore Metro already operational, complete corridor connectivity is anticipated by year-end. Additionally, he confirmed that Bhopal Metro's Phase I and II, comprising the Orange and Blue lines, are targeted for completion by 2030.

Academy Empower your mind, elevate your skills The government has approved financial support for 23 companies to develop chipsets under the design-linked incentive scheme , Parliament was informed on of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, in a written reply to Lok Sabha , said that 10 companies have raised venture capital (VC) funding for scaling up their design prototypes for commercialisation, and six companies have successfully taped out their prototype designs at advanced and mature technology nodes of various semiconductor foundries."72 domestic companies have been approved under the DLI Scheme for access to state-of-the-art Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. These companies are at different stages of developing semiconductor designs for various applications. Out of these, 23 companies have also been approved for financial support for developing SoCs for surveillance cameras, energy meters, microprocessor IPs, networking applications etc," the minister said that the DLI scheme provides financial incentives of up to 50% of eligible costs, with a ceiling of Rs 15 crore per application for design prototyping, scaling-up and volume production."To enable companies to deploy and commercialise their Intellectual Property (IP) cores, chips, and System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions, the scheme offers financial incentives ranging from 6 to 4% of net sales turnover, up to Rs 30 crore per application over five years," Prasada said.

BMC extends deadline on EOI to set up textile museum in Kalachowki
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) plans to rope in an external agency to restore the old mill structures and develop a textile museum at Kalachowki in Byculla East has drawn feeble responses from eligible parties, nudging the civic body on Wednesday to extend the deadline on its Expression of Interest (EOI) by 15 days to August 13. Earlier on July 3, the BMC's heritage conservation cell department floated an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting eligible and reputed public companies, charitable trusts or society to develop the textile museum. According to officials, the scope of work for the agency will include the redevelopment of the old structures earmarked for restoration as well as overlooking its operation and maintenance over the next 20 years. Estimated at a cost of between Rs 80 and 100 crore, the entire project cost will be borne by 'a reputed company or charitable trust or society' who can invest through their CSR model. However, civic officials said the project EOI has presently received response from only one external agency. Owing to insufficient response, the BMC has revised its EOI deadline upto August 13, in a corrigendum issued Wednesday. As per the initial tender, the deadline was expected to close for bidders on July 28. Sprawled over an area of 44,000 square metre within the compound of the India United Mill No. 2 and 3 at Kalachowki, the civic body in 2019 charted plans to redevelop the space as a textile museum. The project aimed at restoring the old mill buildings–whose history dates back as early as 1869–into a textile museum while also developing recreational spaces within the compound with the aim of educating the citizens about Mumbai's rich industrial history. So far, the BMC has launched work on the establishment of a musical fountain over a pond, murals, amphitheatre among other recreational spaces within the compound of the mill. With the first phase of works nearing completing, the civic body has now taken up the cudgels to restore the old, dilapidated structures into a museum.
