Garden Reach Shipyard to construct Rs 25,000 crore next-gen Corvettes for Navy
The GRSE in a statement said, "The shipyard participated in the competitive bidding process and has emerged as lowest bidder. GRSE will thus be awarded the contract to build five (05) Next Generation Corvettes at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 25,000 crore."
As per GRSE, "These Next-Generation Corvettes shall be capable of fulfilling the roles of Offensive SSM attack, Anti-Missile Defence, Surface Action Groups for Maritime Strikes, ASW and many other Maritime Operations. The warship will also incorporate Green Warship design features, energy efficient & environment friendly technologies."
GRSE is already building four Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV) for the Navy, apart from three Advanced Guided Missile Frigates, eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts of which one has already been delivered to Indian Navy and four Survey Vessels (Large) of which two have been delivered.

Ahmedabad car showroom staff sold 68 vehicles, cheated company of Rs 9.71 crore

Ranchi: As approaches, women from self-help groups (Sakhi Mandals) across Jharkhand are crafting unique handmade rakhis under the state's flagship 'Palash' and 'Adiva' brands. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now From eco-friendly threads to silver and oxidised designs, these rakhis are not just enhancing the festive spirit but also empowering rural women with self-employment. With training and support from Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), women are using traditional, silk, and organic materials like paddy, rice, mauli thread, cotton, beads, haldi, and aalta to prepare over 25 variants of rakhis. These are now available at Palash marts and special stalls in the district and block headquarters. This initiative has opened new income avenues for rural women while reviving traditional crafts. Last year, women from 115 Sakhi Mandals across five districts generated around Rs 10 lakh in rakhi sales. In Khunti district, Sakhi Mandal women are producing premium silver and oxidised rakhis under the 'Adiva' brand. The oxidised ones are priced between Rs 150 and Rs 200, while the silver rakhis range from Rs 800 to Rs1,200, offering customers elegant, handcrafted alternatives. "Our women have acquired design skills and confidence. This is not just about income, it's about identity," said Nidhi Narsariya, a group leader from Ranchi. In the state capital, these fancy rakhis are available at the Palash mart near Hehal and district stalls at affordable prices. Many buyers are opting for these eco-friendly and artisan-made options over factory-made products. Launched in 2020 by chief minister Hemant Soren, the Palash brand now covers over 30 food and non-food products.
