‘He's going to call it a day' – Ex-Red Bull mechanic claims Max Verstappen will quit F1 THIS YEAR

MAX VERSTAPPEN has been sensationally tipped to QUIT Red Bull at the end of the season by a former team mechanic.
The Dutchman has won four drivers' titles in a row and is hunting for a fifth this year - which would see him match a feat only achieved by Michael Schumacher in Formula One history.

However, Verstappen has fallen 49 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri amid huge performance struggles with the Red Bull machinery this season.
Verstappen has continued winning races despite the issues and even the power struggle which hit the team last year.
He has been linked with an exit from the Racing Bulls, with a team transfer to the likes of Mercedes or Aston Martin.
But ex-Red Bull mechanic Calum Nicholas believes Verstappen - who became a dad for the first time last month - could QUIT F1 entirely, if he wins a fifth World Drivers Championship.

Speaking on Lucas Stewart's YouTube channel as he played a round of golf, Nicholas was asked how many titles Verstappen would win in his career.
He gave his answer before revealing what he thought lay ahead for the 27-year-old.
Nicolas said: "Five. I think Max is going to win the Drivers' this year, and then I think he's going to call it a day."
Despite his answer, the mechanic insisted he didn't "know anything" extra about Verstappen's career plans.

Nicholas added: "To not back Max is just like lunacy, I think. The guy is just really really good.
"Not in terms of just his technical skill and his talent, but I've watched Max grow into this guy that can do everything.

"He does everything well now."
Verstappen's last race win this season came at the Imola Grand Prix on May 18.
He finished fourth at the Monaco Grand Prix a week later before inexplicably ramming his car into George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix.
That earned him a 10-second penalty - demoting him from P5 to P10 - and three penalty points on his licence to put him on the brink of a race ban.
Verstappen has 11 out of 12 points needed to earn a race ban across the 12-month rolling system for the penalty points.
He will need to be on his best behaviour at the Canadian and Austrian Grand Prix to avoid a ban in the following race before he sees two penalty points expire on June 30.
SunSport looked at five potential replacements for Verstappen if he is banned from competing for one weekend.
Names include impressive F1 rookie Isack Hadjar, Red Bull flop Liam Lawson and F2 prodigy Arvid Lindblad, who recently raced against Leeds United stars on the Elland Road pitch.

The Silver Arrows believe the Italian teenager has the potential to go on to be a superstar of the future. Up to now, his debut season in the sport has been something of a mixed bag. There have been a some highs which have shown the obvious talent he has, such as his maiden pole position in the Miami Grand Prix Sprint race, and his first podium in F1 when he finished third at the Canadian Grand Prix. There have also been tougher moments, particularly since the start of the European section of the season. His home race at Imola was a chastening experience and, in the seven Grands Prix held in Europe so far this year, he has managed to score only one single point. Having admitted that he is suffering from a lack of confidence, the summer break has come at the perfect time for the youngster. And Antonelli has been making the most of his time, spotted this week enjoying some time out to see with friends. But he suffered some unwanted technical issues on a jet ski which grinded to a halt having ran out of fuel. Footage of the aftermath was later shared on social media by one of his friends. In the footage, Antonelli is seen standing on the stricken jet ski which is tied via rope to the back of another vessel and being pulled along. The caption, written in Italian, translates to: "Point of view: Transporting Kimi Antonelli because he ran out of gas." Despite the unfortunate incident, Antonelli is still seen smiling as he speaks to his friends who are in the speedboat which is pulling him and the jet ski along. The footage is believed to have been captured off the Greek coast, where Antonelli has been holidaying with friends and his girlfriend Eliska Babickova. Babickova, who goes by the forename Eli, posted a series of snaps of their holiday on Instagram on Wednesday. The post included several sweet snaps of herself and Antonelli embracing one another as they enjoy their downtime. The pair have been together since 2023 and Babickova has attended several F1 races so far this year to watch her boyfriend in action. She and her sister, Petra, are both experienced in karting themselves, having represented their native Czechia.

Michael Dunlop to pay homage to his famous father Robert by riding legendary bike at Classic TT
The 33-time Isle of Man TT winner has taken over the ride in place of fellow Northern Ireland man Shaun Anderson, who raced the rotary machine to victory in the Classic Superbike race at the Tandragee 100 in June. The Classic TT has been reinstated this year for the first time since 2019, with Dunlop due to line up on the Norton in the Formula One race. He is among a host of leading TT names in action at the event, including Davey Todd, John McGuinness, Dean Harrison and Conor Cummins. Dunlop's late father Robert famously won on the factory JPS Norton at the North West 200 in the 1990s, creating some of the most iconic moments in the storied history of the Northern Ireland road race. Robert also finished on the podium for Norton at the TT in the 1990 Formula 1 TT and 1992 Senior TT, while Scottish legend Steve Hislop famously won the '92 Senior race riding a Norton after a battle with Yamaha-mounted Carl Fogarty. The Dunlop and Norton reunion will be one of the big talking points at the Classic TT where practice is scheduled to commence on Wednesday. In 2024, Dunlop was out of luck after opting to ride a Ducati 916 at the Manx Grand Prix for the first time, with the machine plagued by problems from the beginning. The 36-year-old will be up against it on the Norton as he goes head-to-head with rivals including Todd on a Ducati 916, while 2024 winner Mike Browne and former Classic Superbike race winner Rob Hodson are also riding Ducati 916 machines. With Dunlop drafted into the team, Anderson has been left without a ride and admits he is unlikely to secure an alternative machine with only days remaining before practice begins. The Banbridge man said he had been left 'gutted' and 'let down' in a post on his Facebook page. However, Wiz Norton Racing said Anderson remained part of the team and that the chance to have Dunlop on their machine was too good to turn down. A statement read: 'We have worked with Shaun for a number of years, both at the Classic TT/MGP and at the TT, where we have run him in the Supersport and Superstock classes. 'We understand Shaun's disappointment to miss out on riding the Norton again on this occasion, but we discussed it with him as a team, and he understands that running Michael was an unmissable opportunity for us. 'Shaun will still be riding our DKW W2000 in the Historic Junior class, and he firmly remains part of the WizNorton Racing team.' Trevor Nation, who also rode for the JPS Norton team alongside Robert Dunlop, will take part in a special parade lap featuring famous machines from the 1980s and 1990s. The 2025 Classic TT will also pay homage to Joey Dunlop, marking the 25th anniversary of his victory in the Formula One race in 2000. Dunlop won three races at his final TT before tragically losing his life in a racing incident in Estonia shortly afterwards. His nephew, Michael, will ride a replica of Joey's Formula One race-winning Honda on a tribute lap to mark the occasion.

Rest well, Sammy." Another added: "Was a special player for the Saints. That goal he scored at Ayr in front of the fans is etched in my memory forever. "Through the worst period in the club's history and then getting us out of it again." Like many on here, Sammy was a real hero to me when I first started supporting the Saints. So many memories. A true great from that era." Sammy's younger brother Allan started his career with Hearts and famously scored a hat-trick at Ibrox against Rangers before moving to French club Rennes. He then joined Sunderland the following year and won the First Division with the Black Cats in 1998-99. He also earned 18 caps with Scotland and had various spells at other clubs, including over 100 appearances for Kilmarnock during a five-year spell at Rugby Park. Johnston finished his career at Queen of the South where he would have a stint as boss, winning the Scottish Second Division earning him the PFA manager of the year award in 2013. He also had spells at Kilmarnock and Dunfermline before returning to Palmerston in 2019. His son Max currently plays for Sturm Graz and has broke into the Scotland squad, earning two caps under boss Steve Clarke.
